Being the young, impressionable, hopeless romantics we tend to be, it’s very easy to get wrapped up in putting someone else’s happiness before our own. I mean, who doesn’t want to fall in love? Growing older, the yearn for solid and like-minded friends can lead us to go an extra mile for those who wouldn’t go an inch. Keep these in mind when navigating relationships, both old and new:

Set internal boundaries on what you’re willing to give.

Understand and enforce your limits.

Remember, time does not equate to loyalty.

It’s not a crime to put yourself first.

Redirect unrequited energy and pour it into yourself.

Your definition of love/friendship will not always align with the person you want to be with/befriend.
