CARE & USE OF SALT & PEPPER MILLS Peppercorns like coffee beans taste best when freshly ground! PEPPER freshly milled is clearly superior if you compare it to the ready ground varieties available from supermarkets. Whole peppercorns contain a natural oil which gives pepper its distinctive flavour and quickly oxidises and looses its pungency once the peppercorns are ground. For maximum eating pleasure the pepper is best ground coarsely so that the final grind is done with the teeth, releasing the pungent flavour direct into the mouth. SALT is an essential mineral component of a healthy balanced diet. Sea salt provides one of the simplest ways of meeting these dietary needs. As is the case with ready ground pepper, processed table salts are considered the least flavoursome by discerning cooks. This is because they often contain additives and anti-caking agents to provide easy flow. For these reasons salt and pepper mills are among the most popular kitchen tools! Never place a mill directly over open saucepans, casseroles or frying pans during the cooking process. The steam will dampen the salt and pepper grounds which can clog up the mechanism. Steam can also have a detrimental effect on the mill body and grinder. If the mechanism does get clogged empty the mill and clean the mechanism with a small brush. Mill bodies can be kept clean by wiping them over with a damp cloth. Wooden models will benefit from an occasional application of T&G’s food safe wood oil or mineral oil, to enhance the appearance and prevent the wood from drying out.

CRUSHGRIND ® SALT & PEPPER MILLS CRUSHGRIND ® Mills all have the CrushGrind ® ceramic mechanism which achieves a finer grind than conventional metal mechanisms. Furthermore this type of ceramic is an extremely hard material it guarantees excellent ongoing performance for many years. CRUSHGRIND ® mechanism has its own unique grinding system which requires no central spindle and delivers excellent performance grind after grind.

CRUSHGRIND ® is excellent for grinding dried herbs and spices which quickly lose both aroma and flavour once they are ground, because the essential oils very quickly evaporate. Buying coarsely ground dried seasonings and milling them when required releases the essential oils, restoring smell and taste to the level of freshly picked ones.

CRUSHGRIND ® is easy to use, simple to fill and regulated by a simple rotating wheel at the base or top of the mill to achieve a fine or coarse grind.

Proven performance; test results established the mill in perfect working order after grinding 50 kilos of pepper and 50 kilos of salt through the same grinder — the equivalent of 200 years of normal domestic usage! The mill stone can easily be removed making it ideal for cleaning and maintenance — the ceramic mill stone is dishwasher safe. As the mechanism is ceramic, it is also non-corrosive and non-porous and unlike metal it will not oxidise food.

CLASSIC SALT & PEPPER MILLS T&G’s Classic mills are available in a choice of different materials including crystal clear acrylic, stainless steel, hevea and beech wood, copper finish and coloured wood. All T&G Classic mills have fully adjustable ceramic mechanisms. There are no metal grinders to corrode and no plastic grinders to wear out, just ceramic. Add a spot of cooking oil to the top of the metal spindle where it meets the adjusting screw, this will prevent oxidation and keep the thread in good working order. It is advisable to repeat this occasionally throughout the working life of the mill. All Classic mills have a lifetime mechanism guarantee. Please ensure your customer's mill returns are checked to ensure the problem is with the mechanism and then send the mill back to T&G for either repair or replacement. If the mill is a discontinued model then the closest equivalent model will be sent if a replacement is required.

1. GENERAL Any contract for the supply of goods or services including any quotation, tender, sale or acknowledgement of order issued by T&G Woodware Limited (‘the Company’) shall, unless specifically agreed in writing by a Director, be subject to the following terms and conditions (‘Conditions’).

2. CARRIAGE UK Mainland Minimum order value £100 Orders from £100 to £300: £20 carriage charge Orders over £300: Free delivery to UK Mainland with the following exceptions

Isle of Wight Minimum Order value: £300 Order value £300 to £500: £6 carriage charge Over value over £500: carriage paid

Channel Islands Minimum order value: £800 Carriage: 5% of net invoice value

Northern Ireland Minimum order value: £300 Carriage charges: Order value £300 to £400: £20 Order value £400 to £600: £12 Order value over £600: carriage paid All other UK Islands & Highlands Minimum order value: £400 Carriage charges: Order value £400 to £500: £20 Order value £500 to £750: £12 Order value over £750: carriage paid

Republic of Ireland Minimum order value: €400 Carriage charges: Order value €400 to €550: €35 Order value €550 to €700: €25 Order value over €700: carriage paid

3. TERMS OF PAYMENT Payment of the contract price and any other charges shall be made promptly on a net thirty day basis from date of invoice. Interest on any overdue account shall be charged at a rate equivalent to four percent above HSBC plc base rate for the time being in force. 4. CONDITIONS The Conditions, together with specific conditions and terms set out in the Company’s quotation, shall constitute the entire Contract between the Company and the Purchaser of any goods, or receiver of any services from the Company (‘the Customer’). These conditions shall supersede: a. any previous agreements or arrangements whether written, oral or implied and b. any conditions at any time imposed or quoted by the Customer where inconsistent with these conditions and in any particular shall override any conditions that may be printed upon any order, request for quotation or other communication received from the customer or on his behalf. By accepting any tender or quotation for or placing any order for these goods or services the Customer shall be deemed to have accepted these conditions.

5. PRICES AND SPECIFICATIONS Whilst endeavouring to maintain prices, the Company reserves the right to alter prices and /or specifications without notice and the prices and specifications applying to any order shall be those applicable when the order is dispatched. The Company also reserves the right to add a surcharge and to charge for delivery where necessary. All sizes and capacities quoted are approximate.

6. QUOTATIONS Quotations only refer to goods and services specified therein and available at the time of quotation. Quotations shall only be binding on the Company if confirmed in writing. Notwithstanding any quotation the Contract Price shall be the price ruling at the date the order is dispatched. In any event quotations shall not be binding upon the Company if not accepted in writing by the Customer within 28 days of receipt of any quotation.

7. DAMAGED AND LOST GOODS Any damaged or faulty goods must be reported in writing as soon as possible and in any event within 7 days of receipt of any delivery or part delivery. No claims for compensation or replacement of goods will be accepted after the 7 day period. Non-delivery of goods must be reported in writing within 14 days of receipt of invoice.

8. RETURNS Goods cannot be returned without prior agreement by the Company in writing. A restocking fee may apply. To receive a credit (if agreed) goods must be returned in the same condition in which they were received and in their original wrapping and packaging. Returns will also only be accepted back at the Customer’s expense. 9. PART DELIVERY — UK MAINLAND ONLY The Company will make every effort to despatch an order complete, but reserves the right to make part shipment/delivery. Mainland Great Britain balances under the value of £75 will either be added to the next order or cancelled at the Company’s discretion. 10. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY a. the liability of the Company in respect of any defect or damage in goods supplied shall be limited to the replacement or repair of such goods at the Company’s expense (provided that the defect or damage shall have been reported promptly as required above). b. the Company shall not be liable for any consequential loss (whether direct or indirect) expense or damage of whatever kind arising as a result of any defect or damage in goods supplied. c. any date quoted for delivery of orders or consignments shall not constitute a term of contract between the Company and the Customer and any delay shall not constitute a breach of such contract neither shall the Company be liable for any indirect or consequential losses, costs or penalties incurred or suffered by the Customer as the result of any delay. d. time shall not be of the essence in respect of any contract between the Company and the Customer unless agreed in writing.

11. TITLE TO GOODS Until the Company has been paid in full for all goods: a. such goods will remain the property of the Company but the risk therein and all liability to third parties shall pass to the Customer. b. if the Customer incorporates goods supplied by the Company in other products then those products shall be the property of the Company. If the Company’s products are mixed with other goods belonging to a third party then the products shall be the property of the Company and the third party in proportion to the cost prices of the different goods. c. if the Customer disposes of the goods or products then the Customer shall hold and pursue claims for the proceeds of any sale on trust for the Company.
