INVOLVEMENT IN PROJECT: 4th year school project The structural strength of the project is in the tensile members anchoring the building to the ground, but the strength of the design is in repetition. Just like the repeating rows of trees in the arboretum, the curved trusses repeat down the building creating a monumental structure inspired by greenhouse design. The heavy exterior shell is juxtaposed by glass stairs and channel glass partition walls that compose the interior spaces. During the day these floating glass elements receive filtered light from fabric wrapped steel trusses. By night the artificial light inside the glass rooms transfmit light through exterior form, making the arboretum complex a glowing focal point in the arboretum.
SECTIONS CUT
The outer shell creates a thermal barrier for the channel glass rooms inside. The middle section of the building features integrated ventelation in the outer shell to help regulate t e m p e r a t u r e s i n t h e s u m m e r.

Drama on the High Line N ew Yo r k , N Y
INVOLVEMENT IN PROJECT: 4th year school project The 10th Ave Tower is a mixed use high rise building along the New York High Line. Relationship of the building to the High line, views of the city, space planning of the apartments, interaction in a dense urban setting were all factors of the utmost priority in this project. The building responds to the site’s unique condition of passing under the High Line by wrapping around it with a dramatic cantilever which functions as a bar and tourist attraction. With two rooftop terraces, shops and restaurants in the commercial floors, and other amenities, provides a complete environment for the residents.
Central Concept A continuous ribbon ties together the dynamic High Line and the disjointed site with a guesture as dramatic as the High Line itself.

Bailey’s Supportive Housing Falls Church, VA
INVOLVEMENT IN PROJECT: Modeling/rendering, builing design, interior design This 21,000 sqft, three story building with a full cellar, sits tight against the property lines of a half acre site. The building serves as both a shelter and transitional housing. The cellar and ground floor hold shelter beds and showers while the second and third floors feature personal living quarters for individuals transitioning out of homelessness but not yet ready for independant living. One of the main features of the building is its sunken plaza that brings ample light into the large acitvity rooms in the cellar.

City of fairfax Fire Station #33 City of Fair fax, VA
INVOLVEMENT IN PROJECT: Aided in plan layout, modeling/ rendering, aided in builing design Fire Station 33 is a three story fire and rescue facility located in the historic City of Fairfax. The station will replace their existing facility which they have outgrown. The central design concept for Station 33 was to create a traditional building that can blend into its historic surrounds without looking antiquated. The red brick façade pays homage to the original structure while allowing the new station to feel at home on Fairfax Blvd. The building features large, contemporary windows that span multiple floors, and lend a modern element to the building. These windows are detailed with heavy trim work to tie them back into the building’s predominantly traditional aesthetic. The grand brick arch over the bays calls acts as the main feature, calling attention to the apparatus.

This proposal for the replacement of the Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Station includes the demolition of the existing fire station and replacement with a new two story fire station. The new station will include five drive through apparatus bays, bay support spaces, residential areas, fire department administration, a public lobby and public training room. The major exterior skin materials shown in this rendering include ground face masonry, accents of flush metal panel, and aluminum curtainwall and storefront systems. This design takes standard sizes of ground face block in a range of colors and arranges them in a creative a pattern to create a dynamic skin. The tall slender windows give the illusion of height to an otherwise low, and wide building footprint.
