Description:
‘Autopoietic Gate’, a project based on the site that has the potentialities in becoming the gate of Johor Bahru’s Ibrahim International Business District (IIBD). It is a project to recaliberate people’s perspective of this site from being located at the most end of IIBD, to the front.
In opposition to the increasing number of population in Johor Bahru, some places are getting gradually abandoned from time to time. Nevertheless, due to the higher cost of living in the city center, locals tend to live in the outskirt of JB City, causing the abandonment of malls and commercial areas. This has lead to the situation where foreigners dwells in JB City instead of locals, and the city center becomes empty, lifeless, and lack the essence of Johor culture itself.

Hypothesis:
Autopoietic Gate main purpose is to celebrate the people of Johor Bahru and to rebuild its’ diversity in order to rejuvenate the city that has slightly lost its identity thus, creating a city that is more resilient and would be able to adapt new (either good or threatening) development or system.
