This competition tasked architects with creating a series of cost effective, environmentally responsible, and energy efficient cabins along the eurovelo 6 route. The prompt asked that the cabins be easily constructible and space efficient, while still making for a comfortable stay.

Our design and construction method is simple. The cabin is designed to be a light wooden structure that sits atop a screw pile foundation. The walls of the cabin will be made by locally sourced, renewable timber.

The shelter is intended to be constructed in 3 prefabricated parts - secured sleeping, living, and wet room - allowing for easy transportation to the site. The kit-of-parts assembly process allows for easy removal or addition of parts to accommodate each specific site and land area. A sliding screen door transforms the space into and enclosed area for the colder months, while allowing it to be open to the elements in the spring and summer time. The center of the space holds an adjustable table that can be pulled down to gather and eat around, or folded up against the wall to create more floor area for travelers and their belongings.
