standing in a forest the patterned opening creates soft and varied light in the small chapel like the sun falling through the leaves of a forest.The idea of standing in a forest comes from the natural calming effect on the body of nature while remaining a non-denomenational element. This way the space has equal meaning and depth of experience for anyone who visits

the changing horizon this design focuses on capturing the best views of nature possible at all times of the day. During the day, this is the steep hillside down to the lake below, but in the evening this view is darkened and the drama shifts to the western horizon as the sun sets. The parti pulls apart and rotates to capture this dramatic shift in views from day to night

perspectival projection the slanted roof pushes the space open at the ends, and the structure and tectonics respond, dissolving away to allow a profound connection with the site as the occupant walks out onto one of the two balconies or steps out the fold away curtain wall on the lower level.
