Welcome to Copenhagen! Dear preGA delegate, I am very pleased to welcome you to the wonderful city of Copenhagen - the capital of the country of fairytales! There is an amazing programme waiting for you and it will all happen at the Faculty of Health Sciences at Copenhagen University - the environment of the every day life of Danish medical students. You should feel very privileged to be joining the preGA! All the workshops have had a tremendous amount of applications and it is wonderful that so many delegates from all over the world have wanted to spend an extra three days with hard work, discussions and tons of new knowledge on their favourite topics. Unfortunately, this also meant that many had to be rejected but after haven expanded our capacity twice, we are proud to announce that we have been able to accommodate 254 eager and interested participants for 10 marvellous workshops. You can read more about each workshop in this delegate programme. At night there will be an exciting social programme and should you feel for some fresh air you can borrow a bike and go for a stroll through the city like all the Danes do it.
With accommodation in the heart of the city and the spacious facilities at the Faculty of Health Sciences combined with the motivation of the OC and the creativity of the participants I believe we have the recipe for a perfect preGA. One of the priorities has been to create a green preGA with a very limited carbon footprint. All the workshop coordinators have worked very hard to ensure you the best and most rewarding experience and the OC will do their best to meet all your needs. Transportation - getting there, around and away Transportation to the preGA accommodation and venue is very easy, regardless whether you are arriving at the Copenhagen Central Station or by plane in Kastrup Airport. Transportation from the preGA to the GA venue is also a walk in the park with the Metro running directly between the two venues every few minutes.
Arriving at Copenhagen Central Station (Københavns Hovedbanegård) Volunteers On the preGA arrival day there will be volunteers at the Copenhagen central station from 7:00 to 21:00 assisting you to the preGA venue. The volunteers will be placed in the hall above the stairs of track 1-4. They will wear dark gray AM11 t-shirts, and be visible to you.By train:
Finding the volunteers when arriving by train or bus: Of you arrive by train you will already be in the Central Station. Just go up into the hall as specified above. If you arrive by bus, you will need to enter the main building of the Central Station, where you can find the volunteers in the hall. Arriving on your own (or earlier than 7:00 or later than 22.00 on arrival day) Take the S train, that operates on tracks (spor) 9 and 10 to Nørreport station. All the S trains (line A, B, C, E, H) running from these tracks stop at Nørreport station. At Nørreport Station you have to change to the Metro. There are visible signs pointing towards the Metro, if you have any difficulties finding your way, please do not hesitate to approach people at the platform. Take line M1 or M2 (direction Vanløse) one stop, and hop off at Forum station. From the station there is a two minute walk to Hotel Cabinn Scandinavia. (Sæt kort ind) Tickets If you arrive by train and your ticket has the destination mark A-F it is valid in both the S train and Metro, but if in doubt, please ask a volunteer if your ticket is valid or not. Please note that your bus ticket is not valid for further travelling beyond the Central Station. You can purchase a ticket with discount from the volunteers if you have 2€ or 15 DKK. There are plenty of ATM’s at the station and we only accepts cash.

Tickets on your own If you don’t have a valid ticket, they can be purchased at the ticket office at Copenhagen Central Station near the main entrance, or at the top of the escalator near track 9 and 10. You need to buy a 2 zone ticket for an adult (voksen) for the price of 24 Danish Crowners (Approximately 3,5 €). You can also buy tickets in ticket vending machines situated in several places around the station. You can pay with cash (only coins) and some credit cards
Arriving in Copenhagen Airport Kastrup Volunteers There will be volunteers will in the airport at preGA arriaval day from 7:00 to 21:00 on arrival day guiding you to the preGA venue. The volunteers will be visible to you in the arrival terminal. Tickets with discount can be purchased from the volunteers for 3€ or 20DKK. Please note that we only take cash Arriving on your own (or earlier than 7:00 or later than 21:00 on arrival day) The Metro line M2 (direction Vanløse) runs directly from the airport to Forum metro station, where hotel Cabinn Scandinavia is located. Tickets are avaliable in Terminal 3 (arrival terminal) at the DSB tickets office or at ticket vending mashines here or on the Metro platform. Mashines only accept coins and VISA card. The price for a one-way ticket is approximately 5€ or 36DKK.
From the hotel to the venue The faculty is situated at a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Volunteers will guide you there on the night of the opening ceremony and in the first morning of sessions. From the PreGA to the GA With volunteers Travelling from the preGA to the GA is very easy. The volunteers will instruct you on GA arrival day, and tickets with discount can be purchased at the OC desk during the preGA for 2€ or 15 DKK. On your own Take the Metro direction Vestamager (M1) and get off at Ørestad Station. The GA accommodation is a short walk from here (sæt ind kort)

preGA Accommodation All preGA participants will lodge at the modern and centrally located Cabinn Scandinavia. The hotel is located right in the heart of Copenhagen near the great lakes, and only 5 minutes walk from the city centre. You will sleep 3 or 4 persons in a room, and we will do our very best to keep NMO’s together. The hotel has a 24-hour desk where snacks can be purchased, and free WiFi is available in the rooms as well as in the lobby. All the rooms have their own shower and bathroom, television, telephone and a kettle, so it’s possible to brew a fresh cup of coffee at anytime of the day. The hotel is located at a 2 minute walk from the Forum Metro station, Check-in will be open at the hotel from 13:00 in the afternoon at the 28th of July. Luggage storage is possible from 8:00 and we welcome you to get in early and enjoy a day in our capital before the preGA programme begins. Copenhagen has a lot to offer, and the vibe simply has to be experienced. Check-out is at 11:00 at the 1st of August, where the volunteers will guide you via metro to the modern and newly build Cabinn Metro where the GA will take place. Please note that all indoor smoking including in the rooms at Cabinn Scandinavia is prohibited, and hence all smoking has to take place outside. If you fancy an evening out as a real Copenhagener, we have 40 city bikes available for loan. Please do not use these if you are not an experienced bicycler, and be very careful when you are riding around the streets of Copenhagen.
preGA Venue The workshops will be held at the Faculty of Health Sciences, called Panum, at the University of Copenhagen. It is situated in Nørrebro, one the most culturally diverse parts of the city. All the workshops will take place in spacious rooms which invite to creativity and productivity. PreGA OC
members will be around continuously to help you with anything you might need. The opening ceremony on arrival day will take place in an auditorium and all the workshop room are located on the 2nd floor in building 1 (rooms with the names 1.2.XX) just above the cafeteria. You will get login information for the wireless internet when you check in.
Meals Breakfast will be served at the hotel from 6:00 until the start of the sessions. Please keep in mind, that there is a 10-15 minute beautiful walk between accommodation and venue. After the opening ceremony on the night of arrival day, a light meal will be served. Lunch and dinner on the workshops days are all served in the cafeteria in Panum. Coffee can be purchased during the day at very low prices. Fruit will be available in breaks.
Social Programme We have ensured that you wont be be bored at anytime during the preGA. In the mornings, we have arranged presessional fittnes, biking and Zumba. If you want to participate in the morning fitness program you need to bring running shoes and gym clothes. In the evenings, the Copenhagen medical students’ favorite hang-out place, Klubben, will be open. You can buy beer and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages at very reasonable prices, remember to bring cash. On the night of the opening ceremony (this night only) you can also bring your own beverages. If the weather is good, there is also the possibility to enjoy the evening outside. Either on the lawn in front of Panum or in the close-by park “Fælledparken”. There will be different activities like soccer matches and traditional Danish outdoor-games.
Smoking and alcohol Smoking is prohibited in all public buildings and generally inside unless it is specified otherwise. Smoking outside is allowed though mind the smoking-free areas. Consumption of alcohol is allowed in public. The minimum age for buying stronger alcohol is 18 years.

Presidents’ Workshop IFMSA VPI - Caline Mattar - vpi@ifmsa.org NMO presidents in IFMSA work hard to lead their organization into becoming effective. They face many shared challenges, from within different national contexts. A great deal of potential support, both practical and motivational, lies within the Federation itself but it is not fully utilised when the Presidents are fully occupied with their national and international responsibilities. The Presidents’ workshop provides an ideal forum for the Presidents to come together with their peers. Here they will share their experiences and insights, acquire new skills and develop novel ideas and approaches to their tasks. Being highly-motivated, they will develop their leadership skills as they go along. The trainers at the workshop will give them the environment in which to reflect on their experiences and to learn new approaches. During these 3 days, trainings on leadership skills, team building, organizational and managerial skills, as well as topics for personal development of the presidents will be addressed. There will be also dedicated for experience sharing and problem solving.
Health 2.0 Miguel Cabral - miguel__cabral@hotmail.com Health and the Future, nicknamed Health 2.0 has been getting a huge amount of attention, not only from parts of the Medical Community, but also from the entire health community - Health care professionals, patients, professionals in other fields and so many other groups, including Medical Students. The nickname – Health 2.0 – is definitely suited to these times of unprecedented growth in the new technologies field, which has been and will continue to be one of the major influences for the anticipated change in today's way of dealing with Health. Additionally, these changes will also allow a different potential for the relationship between patients and doctors that can now be more regular and closer. The role of Medical Students in this process is particularly important, as they can easily adapt and use the different spectra of available media tools, which they are already conversant with. Although this movement has to be a collective phenomenon, it will still have to happen on an indi-

vidual basis. It will involve important self-management skills to handle all the stress, information and demands that the physicians of tomorrow will additionally have to handle. We hope that this pre GA can enable the participants to be active members of this change not only in their personal and academic life, but also in their NMOs and in IFMSA and also in their future tasks as a healthcare provider.
Training Old Trainers in Advocacy (TOTA) Training Supporting Division Director - Khoury Katia training@ifmsa.org If you are already a trainer and you want to: • Learn more about advocacy in the IFMSA, and how it applies on local, national, and international level • Learn how to train in advocacy, forwarding the knowledge on both the international level as well as the national and local level • Become a change agent of the movement in the IFMSA that aims to improve our external representation and give ourselves the capacity to advocate skillfully, • Be actively involved and to work on the team spirit in the IFMSA Training Division • Become self aware individuals using personal and group feedback, Then you have come to the right workshop! The Training New Trainers (TNT) workshop will not only give you the opportunity to get a lot of knowledge and skills but to also put it into practice by giving a training during the GA with a more experienced trainer.
Exchange SCOPE Director - Pablo Esteban Vega Rojas scoped@ifmsa.org SCORE Director - Jovana Nedeljkovic scored@ifmsa.org The exchange preGA will focus this time in train the exchange officers in oganize pre-departure trainings once they go back to their countries. You will be able to get training in intercultural learning which might make you more cultural senstive when it comes to work with foreigner students. Also we will discuss the ethical consequences of practice medicine abroad, focusing when students attend clerkships in countries with limited resources and we will cover topics of travel safety as well. The idea is to discuss diferent topics that you could share afterwards with your LEOs or outgoing exchange students in order for them to take the best from this experience. At the same time you will get train in organize such trainings back home and of course we will save some time to discuss crucial problems and solutions for SCOPE and SCORE. We are looking forward to share this experience with you and let's hope that all have a great journey during this training. Looking forward to meet you all in Copenhagen!!
SCOME - Changing health care through medical education SCOME Director - Ioana Goganau - scomed@ifmsa.org The continuous improvement and attaining excellence in medical education is an important goal of the Medical Education department of IFMSA on international level as well as local and national ones. However medical education does not stand alone, it is part of a wider interconnected system centered on health and health needs of the population and plays a crucial part in it. This workshop invites to look at things from the perspective of the way in which improvements in medical education can reflect into better health-
care and the need to adapt medical curriculum to local, national and global emerging needs and priorities of the medical systems. The content of the workshop includes different approaches students can use towards improving medical education, either involvement in curriculum development and colaboration with faculty or through extracurricular activities, and will touch several subject of interest for the relation between medical education and health care, with particular focus on patient safety and social accountability. Patient safety is defined as a health care discipline that emphasizes the reporting, analysis, and prevention of medical error that often lead to adverse health care events. Health care errors impact 1 in every 10 patients around the world, the World Health Organization calls patient safety an endemic concern. Social accountability is the common frame for the set of challenges medical schools face in the 21st Century as they were identified by an alliance of 130 organizations: “improving quality, equity, relevance and effectiveness in health care delivery; reducing the mismatch with societal priorities; defining roles of health professionals; and providing evidence of impact on people’s health status.
Think Global Think Global Initiative Project Coordinator- Usman A. Mushtaq - thinkglobal@ifmsa.org Im proud to tell you that The Think Global Team will continue with the highly successful workshop on Health, Advocacy and Climate Change. With some major improvements and new exciting high-level trainings. Also this time we will try to include potent externals from organizations such as the 10:10 campaign, Copenhagen School of PH and World Health Organization. We will look to continue and build on the successes from the previous workshops, this workshop is one of many integral steps currently being taken to up-skill IFMSA members to advocate on important public health issues. It will combine content based information on Climate Change, Health, and key factors in the ongoing international debate with practical skill-sets relating to campaigning and advocacy. New for this workshop will be to work on defined targets such as the build up to a very important COP17 in Durban (this December) and the Rio Earth Summit (early 2012), which is supposed to be the biggest UN meeting of the past 2 decades(!) Also to structurize IFMSAs efforts on Climate and Health.

A large proportion of the workshop will be dedicated to campaigning and advocacy, specifically campaign theory and planning. Participants will be encouraged to develop a campaign and continue to transfer the knowledge they attain at the workshop to other fellow medical students via peer-education after their return to their home country. This workshop aims to inspire and equip students to further global health education opportunities within their NMO's and the IFMSA in general. With the IFMSA involved so heavily in this important issue, we can't think of a better time to get people excited about this workshop!
International Peer Education Training (IPET) SCORA Director - Joško Miše - scorad@ifmsa.org IPET again became reality and for the 11th consecutive time, we offer you highly interactive and unforgettable training in behaviour change peer education. This, 11th time we decided to take it a step further and explore how far can we go with IPET! For the first time we have IPET with a special focus on Millenium Developmental Goal 5 – improving maternal health. We have been working for past 6 months together with IPAS on bringing you this unique IPET. IPAS is an organization working on promotion of women's health and advancement of women's reproductive rights. They have an extensive experience in delivering trainings aimed towards young people so having IPAS as collaborators on IPET 11 is an amazing opportunity to attend a high quality training on the issues of maternal health. Apart from having an amazing time, you will also learn how to develop projects with new techniques, ideas and outcomes and simply – how to create a peer education project on your local and national level aimed at improving health of mothers and women . Looking forward to meeting all of you in Copenhagen at the IPET 11!
Training of New Human Rights Trainers (TNHRT) SCORP Director - Beata Syzdul scorpd@ifmsa.org The workshop aims at providing participants with basic information and principles of human rights, vulnerable

populations and the right to health. This is basic knowledge of importance to every human being, but of even greater importance to future doctors, as in many cases they are the front line defending human rights. In some cases they could be the only ones present to stand up for those suffering from inequities. During this workshop, participants will develop better understanding of basic human rights and the magnitude of the problems vulnerable populations are facing. Participants will also be equipped with a set of skills to directly and actively spread the information they've learned and work towards resolving inequities in the recognition, protection and promotion of human rights around the world. This Pre-GA will deliver the aforementioned objectives by implementing a number of techniques including the use of audio and visual materials, participation in group debates, practical case studies, role plays and simulation techniques and the sharing of experiences in home countries to deepen our understanding of the problem. Finally, participants will be provided with the training and the materials necessary to run the training new human right trainers project in their home countries to continue their learning experience and encourage fellow medical students to join in.
Team of Officials Meeting 5 (TOM5) IFMSA President - Chijioke Chikere Kaduru president@ifmsa.org The Team of Officials Meeting is usually a three day meeting of the IFMSA international board, that allows for planning the work of the federation, discussing issues that affect the functioning of the federation, preparing for General Assemblies and team building. TOM5, as the 5th and last TOM of the term will be focused on preparing for the GA and reviewing the term. Since most of the officials are involved in coordinating other preGA workshops, TOM5 will designed to last for only a part of the day.
