Natural Dye

Scarves

These scarves speak much more than a fashion statement; they tell the stories of the artisans who produce them. Women use native plants found in their communities to create natural-tinted dyes. Fabric is then woven using a back-strap loom—an ancient Mayan technique passed down through generations. Wrap-up in one of our lightweight scarves and feel the beauty of the Guatemalan Highlands. Delicately soft, our scarves display stitching with intricate detail, resist design and braided fringe on each end. Each scarf measures 14 in. in width and 74 in. in length. Browse our variety of colors to learn what indigenous plants were used to create the natural-tinted dyes.
