BIO, Amal A.A. graphic designer to be ,ninties kid, Eating is one of my hobbies , colset nerd family comes first to me , I thought i would explore my family history through the games that we used to play ... what else , did I mention food?

FAMILY like most emirate families , we have a big one, and we love to get together and celebrate for no reason ! my grandmother from my father side was the third wife to my grandfather, she got married when she was 13, gave birth at 14 to my father , the oldest of 4 kids, 2 boys and 2 girls, i also have an aunt and an uncle from my grandfather›s other marriage. we have lots of girls in our family, 20 to be exact , and these are only my cousins! my mother›s side is not much different , my

grandmother was the first wife of 3 , she gave birth to 6 kids , before that she miscarried 3 times, i also have an uncle from my grandfather›s other marriage. i will stop writing and let the pictures speak of the good family times

my interviewees My father›s mother: the grandmother with the big heart, she loves everyone and everything.

my mother: the spoiled one, she knew how to have fun , and she did

My mother›s mother: she is the wise one ,we always go to her if we need advice ,comfurt, or home remdies

CARROM!

so mother, how did we get the carrom ?

it was a gift from your grandfather, you know he was the distrbuter for games stores in dubai, he got it for your brother because he sang him a lullaby about ÂŤgrandpaÂť , he was 5 years old

as kids you and your brother used to throw the carrom stones at each other , we always missed few piaces , i had to go buy them, in Dozens! it makes sence , it is a good size to throw at others! what else do you remember ?

after a while you turned it into a table ,and it was full of juice and bread cumbs your father and uncel used to play it all the time, it was a secert rivalry! yah i remember that

GLASS BALLS

grandma look what did i find ! that is really old do you remember it ? of corse , it was my faviorate , we used to get them from the grocery next door, we used to play it like golf, and the really cool kid was the one with the most colorfull ball

remember theses ?

your uncle stuck one of these up his nose

we used to put them in a countainer to make a musical instrumnt

you know my sister was playing with it , she throwed it in the air and it landed in her mouth, she chocked on it and i had to get it out , it was so scary!!

PILLOW HOUSE

grandma, remember when we used to build houses of those big pillows ? you used to make a big mess, and every time you tell me you will clean up and then fall asleep in your ÂŤhouseÂť you used to make a table and eat you lunch on it

sometimes i would find a stain on the other side of the pillow , do you anything about that?

EPILOGUE emotions are so strong, they are strong enough that they can tie them selfs to objects, have you ever looked at something and smiled inside , that connection we establish with material things are far greater than its real value. sometimes we would pay any price in the world because that carrom board was dad's favorite game , or because the glass ball was the game that my mother taught me how to play! it is then you realize that it is not the object, it is the people and the memories that attach them selves to that single -probably worthlessitem! and later on in life, when you are tired and frustrated of university ! and your teacher gives you an assignment that is basically a very colorful research‌you will remember those items , your brother's smirk , your father's laugh, the very annoying sound of your sister singing and you will laugh because those memories bring you joy , happiness , things that will make you forget about university and time management issues, you may even go back home, dust off the old carrom and challenge your arrogant brother for a rematch, yes i am still holding a grudge for the time he cheated ! so make healthy attachment to memories, unlike people, they stay forever !
