Anbuildingsarchitect

When she moved to LA in her early 20s she started to appreciate architecture – the modernist Case Study houses in particular captured her eye. This led her to study architecture in the UK but from the beginning she always approached it from an artistic rather than technical angle The tension between her passion for drawing and the demands of her career was always present. It wasn’t until she moved to Brighton that she finally realised that she didn’t have to be torn between architecture and drawing and that she could, in fact, blend them. The city’s landmarks, local architecture and history viewed with her newcomer’s eye had given her an idea Her distinct style could represent the clichéd in a fresh way And then she expanded her idea to include buildings not just in Brighton but further afield resulting years later in a collection of over 70 illustrations of iconic buildings. She also carries out commissions for private individuals, businesses and cultural organisations

Despite the disparate ages, types and styles of the architecture she has drawn, Amalia's background as an architect and consequent attention to detail and her trademark style ensures that her illustrations sit well together in an elegant and understated collection. We hope you enjoy them! For Linescapes' full collection of products visit www.linescapes.co.uk Email Amalia on contact@linescapes.co.uk if you are interested in her bespoke comissions.

and illustrator with over 20 years’ experience in Spain, USA and UK, and with has a Master’s degree from the Royal College of Art, Amalia has always loved drawing. She was at her happiest as a child when drawing and she continued to draw all through her life. However, as with most people she put aside her passion to pursue a ‘proper’ career.

Linescapes' aim is to tap onto people's emotional relationships with buildings. Architecture can evoke memories, a sense of belonging and relate to our aesthetic sense That's why Linescapes collections are constantly growing with drawings of buildings that mean something to people, whether it's a cultural landmark, an architecturally significant structure or a bespoke house portrait.

In Amalia’s own words: “Architecture is a highly functional creative expression so for a while I was able to fulfill my artistic needs to a certain degree But after years of being an architect I realised that it wasn’t enough. I realised I was an artist doing an architect’s job! So I left to pursue my passion: to draw buildings that fascinate me but in my own style”
