PANAMA BREEZE SENIOR LIVING FACILITY
The New Classic
OBJECTIVE
Design a 3,500 square meter senior healthcare facility catering to assisted living and memory care residents. Located in the Panama Pacifico development near Panama City, the facility needs to be in compliance with IBC and ADA codes and universal design solutions should be implemented.
SOLUTION
Create a community for the residents where they are provided spiritual, emotional, and physical support while feeling independent in their home-like environment. Special attention was given to the surrounding buildings and forest when designing the building’s layout and placement on the site to increase light entering the building and views from the interior.
CONCEPT
An open environment where residents feel at home and in the heart of Panama by bringing tropical colors in to create an oasis. Designing the facility in three main areas - a secured memory care wing set up as a small-house model, assisted living apartments with main gathering spaces, and a main socializing area for residents and the community allows residents distinct areas to live in and enjoy.

NEXT STEELCASE COWORKING OFFICE
The New Classic
OBJECTIVE
Design a 11,000 square foot coworking office for Steelcase, located in Atlanta.
SOLUTION
The layout takes advantage of the structural grid of the building, enhancing the openness of the space while allowing separation of louder/collaborative spaces vs quieter/focused working environments. Optimizing natural light and views of the outdoors is achieved through closed off areas being located centrally in the space. The use of transparent walls in places as well as most walls not reaching the ceiling allows ambient daylight to travel throughout. Collaboration is encouraged, especially with the Work Cafe being located centrally for an easy break spot to work and mingle. The NEXT environment increases productivity through its vast offerings - private spaces where you can focus on work, video conferencing rooms, project rooms, and so much more to insure your working needs are met in a space you enjoy coming to every day.
CONCEPT
The NEXT coworking space is an environment to assist workers in their professional and social needs through working in an invigorating and comforting place. The openness and natural light showcased in an old industrial building is used as inspiration in the space’s layout to create an open, bright environment for workers. A subtle color scheme hints at industrialism to help workers feel at home and comfortable.

CEDAR RAPIDS CARNEGIE LIBRARY REHABILITATION OBJECTIVE
Preserve the Carnegie Library while rehabilitating it into a private residence, following the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards
SOLUTION
Through researching the library by creating a Historic Structures Report, our design decisions ensured the original integrity of the library was maintained. Classically designed furniture ties the residence to its architectural style and the colors selected come from a period appropriate color scheme.
CONCEPT
An open-plan residence maintains the original feel of the space, along with arrying the classically-designed theme throughout with furniture, color, and material selections.
