KWTS 91.1 FM The One to participate in College Radio Day

Release Date: 11/3/2016 CANYON, TEXAS- Students from West Texas A&M University’s radio station, KWTS 91.1 FM will participate in the 6th annual College Radio Day. On November 4, 2016, hundreds of college radio stations across the world join to celebrate the unique medium of radio. “College radio is one of the few remaining branches of creative radio programming where it is free from commercial restraints,” Anthony Miller, KWTS station manager and WTAMU senior said. “It fosters a place where students involved in its programming believe passionately in its mission.” KWTS staff members and on-air personalities will host a public, all day event at WTAMU in the JBK Legacy Hall inviting students and community members to learn more about radio, programming and audio production. The station will broadcast a 24-hour marathon filled with special programming, listener participation and surprise guest appearances. About College Radio Day College Radio Day raises international awareness of education-based radio stations that operate around the world by encouraging those who would not normally listen to college radio to do so on this day. About KWTS KWTS is a fully functional and student-operated college radio station at WTAMU that reaches approximately nine counties in the Texas Panhandle, operating at 6,000 watts. The station began broadcasting in 1972. KWTS is located in the Sybil B. Harrington Fine Arts Complex within the Schaeffer Studio, housing offices, recording studios and a green room.
