position? Local

government issues and engaging with the public were something that interested me from a young age. The contribution to the issues that concern my hometown and in particular to the issues that concern the youth, the involvement with the strengthening of the tourism product, have been the driving force for me to submit my candidacy.

Tell us about your role as a councillor for the Ayia Napa?

We have to face important responsibilities and challenges on a daily basis. As Chairman of the Youth, Sports and e-Government Committee, we promote the development of programs and actions to unlock and develop the potential of the new generation of the place, but also their creative contribution to the formulation of youth policies focused on modern challenges. As a Municipal Councilor in a Municipality that has a huge contribution to the economic development due to the huge tourist attendance that it

has every year, the development of the tourism industry and the strengthening of our tourism product, which bring new jobs and more working positions, has a significant part of my actions on a daily basis. Also, e-Government was an important step for the modernization of our Municipality, which we implemented to a large extent, helping the citizens, especially since the pandemic began. Finally, let me mention that I am a member of the Personnel Recruitment Committee.

What responsibilities

do you have? In

addition to my duties as Chairman of the Youth, Sports and E-Government Committee and member of the Personnel Recruitment Committee, I am Chairman of the Ayia Napa Youth Council, which produces work independently of the Youth, Sports and E-Government Committee. The Ayia Napa Youth Council has set a goal to offer to the community and to support in every way the young people of the Municipality. We carry out activities, such as tree planting, social donation, support for vulnerable groups, the Youth Festival, etc., which encourage our youth to offer and support each other and also to be active in many ways. Also, until the arrival of the pandemic, we organized information events to enhance the tourism product. For example, we had organized the 1st Tourism Conference and for the first time, people that they were involved in tourism, could participate for free and be informed about digital tourism, new techniques, marketing issues etc. All of these, are an important step for us, because the ultimate goal is to support young people and give them access to the new techniques, in order to help them to improve their job, their knowledge and generally the society.

What do you love about Ayia Napa?

such a beautiful place. The natural beauties are innumerable. Cape Greco is one of the main hot spots of Ayia Napa that emphasizes the majesty of the landscape. But what I love most is that the people of Ayia Napa has not changed, despite the changes brought about by the development and strengthening of the tourism product.

What are your hopes for the resort for the 2022 season, do you see an economic

improvement? My wish

for 2022 is the pandemic to have an end soon. We hope that in 2022, after the financial difficulties caused in all sectors in the previous two years, the tourism industry in our country will be strengthened, which is also the main source of income. Through the Recovery and Resilience Facility plan for Cyprus, the economy will become more sustainable and more resilient to future challenges. The investments and reforms that will be made will significantly strengthen the economy. The Plan, which was approved by the EU as a workable and sustainable plan, includes investments and reforms, which concern the significant support of small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as the diversification and strengthening of the tourism product. Gradually, they will contribute to the further development of the local community and improve the quality of life of young people.

Youth? An important goal is the active participation of our young people and to help and support them, by finding efficiency solutions. Every year we organize a festival, organized by the youth for the youth, with events, concerts, activities, social messages and charity. The Ayia Napa Municipal Youth Council (AYIA NAPA YOUTH) immediately after its founding, set a grandiose goal, the organization of a Pancyprian Youth Festival in the Municipality of Ayia Napa. The main idea behind the festival is to attract as many people as possible, from all over the world, since Agia Napa is one of the most beautiful hot spots in the Mediterranean. The festival was established as an annual institution and was embraced not only by the young people of Ayia Napa, but by all parts of Cyprus.

What is the purpose

of this group? To

support our youth, to strengthen the tourism product, which is the backbone of our economy, to have the active participation of our young people in actions that improve their daily lives. We carry out voluntary actions, actions that improve the environment, actions that motivate young people to actively participate in the community. The active participation of our youth is the driving force for our society and it is our duty to encourage it through our actions and examples. It is our duty to stand by to the young people in every way we can.

What encouragement do you give to youths

in Ayia Napa? To be

themselves, to remain loyal in their values and to be active citizens. To participate in training programs, educational programs, so that they can strengthen and develop their business activity. Be optimistic and never give up.

Are there any developments in Ayia Napa we can look

forward to? The project of Ayia Napa Marina is one of the most important real estate projects in Cyprus and is expected to significantly enhance the tourist profile of the island.

What are your

passions? What excites me most as a person is engaging with the public and taking active action. I am not a complacent character; I have always been a restless spirit and I have always been interested in the society issues and the active participation and improvement of my home town. I am a person of the front line and I believe that the challenges we have to face are what keeps us awake every day.
