01 02 03 04 05 06 Modero Alero Stack Terrace Project BirdFeed Fine Art

Modero is hydraulic braking system made for longboards.

Designed to be retro-fitted onto pre-existing boards, Modero allows the user to regulate speed, or come to a complete halt without taking their feet off the board, creating a safer experience.

This allows the traditional longboard to be used as an ecogically sound and safer mode of transport as it will requires no fuel or electricity and is entirely human powered.

How does it work?

Modero allows the user to regulate speed on his longboard by applying pressure on the handle.

Normally, a longboarder user will use his feet to reduce his speed in a manouver called foot - braking.

This is dangerous, as it lessens balance during high speeds, and often ends up damaging the users shoe.

Modero provides a safe and non-destructive way to regulate speed while in motion.

This is accomplished through a pedal towards the back that applies pressure to the brake plates attached to the wheels when stepped on.

A hydraulic system allows users to manipulate the intensity, choosing to either simple slow down the board or come to a complete stop

User testing and feedback

During the research stages of this project, the target market was identified and a control group was formed. This group was conferred with throughout the duration of this project and user suggestions were implemented in regards to comfortability/usability of the device, colour schemes and branding.

Stack

Stack is a wooden building toy designed to be part of the H&M collection.

To conceptualise this product, H&M, kids toys as well as wooden products were extensively researched.

Stack is designed to be an upgrade on standard stacking toys, encouraging problem solving skills, hand-eye coordination as well as fostering the importance of balance.

This product features soft wood grain colouring, comforting to look at whether in disarray or stacked up

Key research

Key research included making moodboards of H&M collections trying to capture the colour pallete and the general aesthetic.

Competitors were also researched, largely to gain insight towards characteristics that are successful in childrens toys.

Key points noted were:

• Different colours for visual stimulation

• Rounded corners

• Element of challenge

The Terrace Project

Over Covid-19 we were all confined to our homes, however I was fortunate enough to have a jigsaw, power sander, a few hand-held tools and time to source ample wooden pallets.

The terrace project was a personal project aimed at designing outdoor furniture for an otherwise, empty roof.

The project constraints were to design outdoor furniture for an otherwise barren terrace using wood only sourced locally while being as financially conscious as possible.

Using pallets meant every strip had to be removed, sanded, counted and measured prior to building, and inventory would dictate the contraints around this product

This project took a total of two months and the total cost for this project was 68.22 GBP

Building Process

Left over wood was used to create smaller side projects around the bench.

A dart board and bar area were constructed and fitted with LED lights for increasing ambience during darker hours.

A table a side chair were also contructed, the sidechair was designed to fit under the table without ruining the overall aesthetic What else?

BirdFeed

BirdFeed was a series of custom built bird feeders that were designed towards customers requests.

During Covid lockdown, with my few hand-held power tools and ample time I was able to freelance my skills and use my time designing bird feeders specifically geared towards customers request.

These bird feeders were designed based on initial parameters set by the client and continually refined using Solidworks and KeyShot to show real time renders, confirming client satisfaction before starting the building process.

• Large, like a ´building for birds´

• Enough area to feed multiple birds

• Gray to match the flooring

• Colourful but not too much.

• Entirely visible at all times

• Easy to clean
