Overview
The Tungsten Oxide Powder is categorized on the basis of formula, appearance and APS. The formula, appearance and APS are further segmented into different types. On the basis of formula, the three types are tungsten dioxide (WO2), tungsten trioxide (WO3) and tungsten pentoxide (W205). On the basis of appearance, it is divided into Blue tungsten oxide (BTO), Yellow Tungsten Oxide (YTO), Violet Tungsten Oxide (VTO). On the basis of APS, it is divided into 0100 nm, 100 nm-1 ums, 1um-100um. Tungsten trioxide is produced as a fine film by atomic layer deposition at temperatures range from 130o to 250o Celsius with the help of a forerunner compound. Tungsten trioxide is an aggressive oxidative agent and it reacts with various rare-earth elements such as copper, aluminum, iron, zinc, manganese, chromium, molybdenum, carbon, hydrogen and silver to form the pure tungsten metal. Tungsten trioxide reacts with gold and platinum to make the tungsten oxide. Due to its rich yellow color, tungsten trioxide is used as a pigment in painting and coating industry. In addition, tungsten trioxide has also proven useful in the production of smart windows or electro chromic windows. Tungsten dioxide is a strong compound with the chemical formula of WO2. The color of the Tungsten dioxide is brownish or bronze- colored. The compound crystallizes in a monoclinic cell. Tungsten dioxide structure assimilate warped octahedral trioxide tungsten centers with alternate short bonds. Tungsten pentoxide is a compound with a formula of W205. It has a rich blue color. Tungsten pentoxide is formed with the reaction of tungsten trioxide, WO3, and tungsten metal at 700° C. Tungsten pentoxide is massively used in medical and firefighting industry. Blue Tungsten Oxide (BTO) is a typically insoluble oxide. It is stable thermally and is used for glass, optic and ceramic applications. Blue tungsten Oxide compound are not conductive to electricity. BTO compounds have minimum one oxygen anion and one metallic cation. It is used in ceramic applications because it is highly insoluble in aqueous solutions. . Blue Tungsten Oxide can be found in the form of pellets, pieces, sputtering targets, tablets, and nanopowder. Yellow Tungsten Oxide (YTO) is also thermally stable and highly insoluble compound. Calcination of Ammonium Paratungstate is done for the production of Yellow
Tungsten Oxide. Yellow Oxide compound are majorly used for the Production of Tungsten Metal Powder by Powder Metallurgical Methods. Violet tungsten oxide (VTO) is a finely segmented crystalline powder. The production of Violet tungsten oxide (VTO) is done in a reducing temperature by rotary calcining ammonium paratungstate at closely controlled temperatures. It produces two basic types which mainly differs in oxygen content. Violet tungsten oxide is basically used for the forming of tungsten metal powder and tungsten carbide.
The Tungsten Oxide Powder is applied used in various industries namely Color and Pigment, Semiconductor and Electronics, Optics and Chemicals. The Tungsten Oxide Powder have different forms and each form has different or unique properties and color. Because of the various and strong colors, the tungsten oxide is highly used in color and pigment industry. As the forms of tungsten oxides are thermally stable and are not soluble in aqueous solutions, they are being used in semiconductor and electronics and optics. The Tungsten Oxide Powder reacts with most of the rare- earth elements which makes it popular in chemical industry. It is not soluble in water and is used in the production of x-ray screen phosphors which makes it demandable in firefighting and medical industry as well. The Tungsten Oxide Powder sales market is segmented into 5 key regions: North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Africa and Latin America. The Tungsten Oxide Powder is expected to grow globally but Asia Pacific region will be the most
dominating market due to the rising consumption of semi-conducting compounds in emerging economies. The major market players are repositioning themselves to the Asia Pacific region due to the favorable manufacturing conditions such as cheap labor, infrastructure and beneficial government policies. The Majority of the Tungsten Oxide Powder was used by China in 2013. Other major consumers of tungsten oxide in Asia Pacific are Republic of Korea, India, Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia, Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka. The Major Market Players are Triveni Chemicals, Kurt J. Lesker Company, Metal Powder Company Limited and Chengdu Huarui Industrial Materials Co., Ltd.
