STUDIO PRACTICE Statement of Intent Name Blog Address Aggie Date 16/03/2016 a-‐mardiyah1316.blogspot.com Rationale During this module I'd like to take on projects that will propel me in the direction of my chosen future career; to gain more experience and develop a portfolio that will be relevant for what I want to be doing in a few years time (Vis Dev artist & Children’s Book Illustrator). I would also like to take on projects that will allow me to explore my other interests outside of the animation industry and further improve my problem solving skills. This will further diversify my portfolio and as a result will make me more adaptable to different types of design work and make me more hirable. Brief 1: (Final Major Project)
Deadline
9th May 2016
Race You To The Waterhole! (title TBC) Description: Children’s pop-‐up book that encompasses the theme of nature and environmental awareness, as well as to encourage readers to appreciate and embrace other countries/cultures and their wildlife. The book will also focus on (the two main characters; Kito and his dad) the relationship between the parent and the child as this is one way that children can see the many ways people around the world are alike – to improve parent and child interaction and communication. Brief 2: Deadline Summer 2016 Layla’s Liver Transplant (Completed) Description: Continuing from the success of the first book about having a kidney transplant, Leeds Children’s hospital have asked me to work with them again to illustrate the second children’s book that they will be producing about having a liver transplant. For the purpose of this module I will be submitting 4 double page spreads and cover. Brief 3: Deadline Feb 2016 Damous Adventure Shop (Completed) Description: 3 t-‐shirt designs based on the theme of ‘adventure’. This is something that quite excites me as I have a passion for travel, exploring new places, sights and going on adventures. They’ve given me the freedom to come up with anything I want, so I will use this opportunity to explore more into traditional processes such as screen-‐printing. Brief 4: Deadline 9th May 2016 Paper cut Yearbook Description: To improve my character design and papercutting skills, I will be making papercut portraits of my course mates (31 portraits) and compile them into a book at the end of it! A little bit like a yearbook (but not really) its perfect since it’s our last year! Brief 5: Deadline 24th March 2016 YCN -‐ Royal Opera House (Collaborative -‐ Completed) Description: The brief is to come up with a creative concept or idea to encourage young people aged 20-‐30 to experience opera for the first time. Taking on a YCN brief requires me to conduct myself more professionally, and to produce work and present them at a more professional standard. It will also push me to be more disciplined with my punctuality and time management, as they have a fixed deadline. Additional Project Proposals Brief 6 -‐ Valentines Day ‘Love Birds’ Papercut greeting cards (completed) Brief 7 -‐ AyasoBoutique Shell Scheme Graphics (Deadline: End of March)
