Meet the Instructor: Bryan Cook: Cowboy and Project Management Expert Bryan Cook teaches Amarillo College’s Project Management Certification Preparation course. If you’ve taken it, I know you’ll agree with me that he is a dedicated and disciplined teacher of the craft of project management. Bryan has an impressive history of career excellence. After earning his B.A and MBA from St. Edwards University in Austin, he’s run numerous multi-million dollar projects for major companies such as Ford Motor Company, Knotts Berry Farm, John Deere, XCEL Energy, and HDR. In addition, he has completed an extensive list of professional development courses with a strong emphasis on project management, leadership and best practices. Bryan’s true passion for anything involving a horse exemplifies his dedication and passion. His rodeo career began while he was growing up on a ranch near Odessa, TX. After competing in high school and college rodeos, he joined the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and began his stint in rough stock events. After a severe injury, he decided it was better for his long term career to focus on roping skills. Countless awards, buckles, and saddles later, Bryan is still at it every day keeping himself and his horses in peak shape to get to the next competition. Bryan’s ultimate gift is his willingness to share his knowledge. Whether he’s in slacks and a suit coat teaching Project Management, or jeans and boots teaching kids horsemanship skills, Bryan has a passion for teaching. After becoming aware of a young lady who didn’t have a horse of her own for a Halloween contest, Bryan lent the young lady his very own Whiskey - one of the sweetest horses I’ve ever known. Never to shy away from an opportunity to give, Bryan later gave his ol’ faithful, award-winning “Whiskey” to a young boy in need of a roping horse for competition. He spent the time to teach him some of the basic roping skills any world champ needs to know, along with a brand new rope. It is special people like Bryan that really make us successful at Amarillo College and I hope if you ever have the pleasure of meeting this man, you will tip your hat and shake his hand!! Professional Driver Training The Transportation Industry is growing and there is a high demand for well-trained drivers. You can be one of them. This six-week course utilizes classroom instruction, range and road driving, and practical application of skills used in the operation of a tractor/trailer. Prerequisites: . Student must be 18 years of age at the commencement of the course . Student must have a current valid Texas Driver License . Student must have in possession first day of class a valid original Social Security Card . Texas Department of Public Safety fees for Commercial Driver License and Permit are included . Student will be required to take a DOT physical on the second day of class. Cost of the physical is included. If the student cannot pass the physical, they will receive a course refund, less the cost of the physical and the Defensive Driving Course. Students completing the course will have a Class A Commercial Driver License with tanker, doubles/triples, and school and passenger bus endorsements. DPS test for the Hazmat is included, but there is an additional cost for Federal certification. Students also trained by National Safety Council Certified Instructors on Defensive Driving for large trucks and forklift operation. To obtain a Certificate of Completion, the student must pass all Texas Department of Public Safety requirements for a Class A Commercial Driver. License issued by the State of Texas. Upon completion of the course, the student will be qualified to secure an entry level job as an over-the-road operator with a Commercial Driver License. Amarillo College is not an employment agency, nor do we guarantee the Texas Department of Public Safety will issue a license. However, students have ample opportunity and help to talk with visiting recruiters, apply for employment, and pass DPS written test and driving skills test with an Amarillo College vehicle.

Designed for those individuals with a current CDL and a minimum of 1 year driving experience. Applies mastery techniques to tractor- trailer operations. This can be obtain at Texas Department of Transportation · Must have in his possession a valid DOT physical · Must have in his possession a valid original Social Security Card · Must apply in person Receive Defensive Driving Training in the classroom to refresh driving habits prior to training in the equipment. Receive Advanced Simulator Training mastering all weather conditions and traffic scenarios. Receive E-log training used in the industry today, advanced backing scenarios to include S-backing, Alley Backing and offset backing. Includes extensive tractor-trailer operations in traffic focusing on maneuverability, awareness, with emphasis on safety. Advanced logistical training will be provided in the classroom, as well as the opportunity to obtain the Hazmat Endorsement to his/her current CDL. One CEU is defined as “10 contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education adult or extension experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction.” • Students in Continuing Education classes for which CEUs are awarded will qualify for one of the following: S — Satisfactory, U — Unsatisfactory. Students in non-CEU bearing classes, courses generally designed for the student’s personal enrichment and enjoyment, do not receive grades.

Enrollment Eligibility Notice

Students with outstanding obligations to Amarillo College may not be allowed to enroll in or complete a Continuing Education course until the obligation is fulfilled. Students who have received a Criminal Trespass Warning from Amarillo College will not be allowed to enroll in courses held on any AC campus unless the warning has been lifted.

Senior Citizen Tuition Waiver Policy

A Senior Citizen is defined as “any person 65 years of age or older.” Tuition will be waived on eligible courses on a SPACE AVAILABLE basis; however, the class must reach its minimum paying enrollment, but not its maximum, for the policy to apply. Proof of age and photo identification are required, and the student must pay all course/lab fees. Continuing Education Courses: A Senior Citizen must complete the “Continuing Education Registration Form.” Continuing education courses that do not meet the criteria for state funding must be self-supporting and are not eligible for the Senior Citizen Tuition Waiver. Ineligible courses include all Personal Enrichment courses and most Occupational Continuing Education courses that are less than seven clock hours in length.

TPEG Funding

TPEG funding for certain CEU credit bearing Continuing Education classes is available to eligible students. Student eligibility is based on demonstrated need and is limited to student enrollment in an occupation specific state funded course. TPEG funds do not cover textbooks or supplies. The Financial Aid Office will determine individual approval and oversee the disbursement of TPEG funds. Please contact the Continuing Education Office at (806) 371-2910 for more information. Note: Application does not guarantee payment of tuition, and the award is based on the availability of funds.

Linked Courses - If a student registers through Occupational Continuing Education, they earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for designated classes, not Semester Credit Hours (SCHs). If students wish to receive SCHs, they must enroll through the College’s credit registration process.

Class Cancellation - Amarillo College reserves the right to cancel a class or classes when necessary.

Inclement Weather - In the event that severe weather conditions are present, the President of Amarillo College may find it necessary to close the College. Students and faculty are advised to listen to local radio and television stations for announcements and updates. Refund Policy - Unless otherwise stated in brochures, flyers, or other promotional materials, the AC Continuing Education Refund Policy is as follows:

Students must initiate all refund requests and transfers from one class to another. Refunds are processed within 45 days. If a student transfers to a different class, any additional tuition due must be paid at the time the transfer is processed. If a class is cancelled, the student automatically receives a 100 percent refund.

Classes with fewer than three class meetings: Until the close of business the last working day prior to the beginning date of the class: • • •

100 percent refunds will be given. Class transfers are allowed. No refunds will be given on or after the first class day.

CE Online Registration Open the internet browser and go to www.actx.edu/ce

Enter the course ID or keyword in the search bar and click Search. You may also browse under Find Classes. Click on the course title and then click register/more info button Review course listing and click Add to Cart and then Proceed to Checkout. You may continue to check out or add additional course(s) at this time. Please note you may only register one student at a time. Once you have added all the course(s) to your shopping cart, Click “Check Out”. If you have never registered for a course before, you will need to proceed as a new student. If you are a returning student, please log on with your ACNet ID and Password to complete the registration.
