“Happy Rooms For Happy Kids!” Artist Info: Lesley Ingham ~ I have always loved art. I have always loved creating, and I have always loved pretty things, but I had never experienced the kind of inspiration that I have now with my two precious children: Allison (3), and Kahlon (1 1/2). From the moment I knew I was expecting Alli, I began thinking of beautiful theme ideas for her nursery... and we ended up with a spring time type of theme, since her birthday is in April. Butterflies and bunnies in light pastels and sheer draperies is what I came up with. I beamed with joy each time I walked into her room! It turns out that her room matched her - light and blonde-headed, and pretty!

KEEP YOUR CHILD’S SAFETY IN MIND Halloween is a fun time for kids and parents alike. You can make sure it’s a safe Halloween for your children by following these simple safety tips: • Add reflective material to custumes. • Masks can obscure vision. Exercise a bit of creativity and use nontoxic makeup instead. • Send your children to trick-or-treat while there’s still some daylight. Make sure they have a working flashlight to use at night. • Insist your children travel in groups with an accompanying adult. • Turn on outside lights to welcome trick-or-treaters to your house. • Check all treats before they’re eaten. For even greater safety, throw out fruit and any candy that isn’t wrapped.

During 2005, Panhandle Assessment Center provided services to more than 300 young victims and their families in crisis situations throughout Amarillo, Lubbock and the surrounding communities of the Panhandle and South Plains. These children had been referred by law enforcement or Children’s Protective Services and other various government agencies all working together to comprehensively aid the abused child to prevent trauma and revictimization by the system.

Go Green at the Green Expo This Year! By Cherisa Felder These Days there are more people realizing that it is time for us to take action when it comes to preserving our environment. KVII channel 7 is hosting it’s 2nd annual Green Expo, October 3rd at the Civic Center in the the North Exhibit Hall from 9am - 4pm. There will be a showcase of eco friendly products and educational tools. From Home Improvement to Organics. Children 12 and under will get into the event free and adults will be $3 at the door. All proceeds made at the door will be donated to an environmentally based charity. Last year all proceeds went to Keep Amarillo Beautiful. Are you looking to buy a new Hybrid Vehicle this year? The Green Expo will have a showcase of some of the newest and most efficient vehicles the industry has to offer. In Fact, KVII has recently purchased a Mercedes that doesn’t run on gas, it runs on French Fry Grease. How Cool is that? And you thought Ethanol was going to be the next big thing. Did you know that they are now using algae for a Biodiesel. You can practically use anything for a biodiesel. There are going to be so many different vendors out there that all have something to offer that will help keep Amarillo and your homes eco friendly. For Example, Countertops of Amarillo has a new countertop material that is made completely of recycled items, I hear that it is absolutely beautiful. Then we have Thermo Dynamic Insulation which is said to seal up your home so well that it actually cuts down on your dusting. Clayton Mobile Homes will be out there. They are one of the manufactured homes that have the Energy Star certification. This is a home that is 30% higher in energy efficiency. So as you can see, there is so much that we can learn

We Help Families With Children Who Have a Chronic Illness or Disability Uniting Parents provides families in the upper 32 counties of the Texas Panhandle the resources they need to help their children.

The program is designed to empower families and enhance their children's quality of life providing information, education, training, referrals, networking and support to their families.

about how to keep our world green. Hope to see you out there. Sponsors for the event are Big State Remodeling, A&R Mechanical, Energy SEALutions and of course the main host is KVII channel 7.
