Theories around which the Design Dissertation of ‘ A Cooperative Winery’ revolves.

Architecture and Terroir

Phenomenology

The primary concern that inspired this study is the growing gap between product and source in contemporary culture. The modern consumer culture pays little attention to the origins of products. This phenomenon is prominent in architecture; too much contemporary work is solely image-based, following constantly shifting worldwide trends, resulting in buildings that are often unsuited for their surroundings. The architectural question that feeds off the previous problem is how a space can reveal process. This notion of process includes both facets of this project, wine and design. Processes that wish to be revealed within this space include wine but also construction, materiality, circulation and spatial integration

Aim: To design a tourist recreational hub with wine-making space which affects the economic growth of farmers and entrepreneurs.

10

Multi Stage Gravity Flow diagram for the Design to proceed.

SITE PLAN AND SCHEME

01

The plots are allotted by the MIDC in Additional Vinchur Industrial belt.

02

Massing of the functions are extruded according to the respective site.

03

The functions are divided into public, industrial, private zones.

04

The main zones are further sub divided into sub zones.

05

The massing o fthe functions are pushed back inorder to the create the vineyards’ experiential space.

06

Creating a final massing for the functions to house.

The roof of the winery is a sloping, in order to gain maximum north light into the industrial as well as public zones and then harvest the maximum sunlight for solar generated electricity.

The approach is futuristic imagining the situation around 30-40 yrs down the line, where the communities reside in secularism. Considering the acceptance of new things, the programs are proposed (but the symbiotic relation brings the connect of retaining the traditional values in the new techniques). Assuming the millennials and the Gen-Z to be more aware of the environment deterioration, they will always opt for an eco-friendly lifestyle and for that matter their “DEATH” too. Thus the project aims changing the way we (Indian population) accept “DEATH” and the process of the funeral/ burial/ cremation of the dead. The project does not say that the traditional practice and rituals are wrong in any manner, but tries to imagine a modern and an advanced process of “DEATH”.

03. JAPANESE FINE DINE RESTAURA Interior Design - Sem 05

Site: BKC Complex, Mumbai

The interiors of the restaurant should reflect the culture and the cuisine and also live up to the international standards. The design space should be functional, aesthetic and should endure in the contemporary context. The restaurant’s theme was inspired by sushi restaurants found in the backstreets of Japan’s major cities. “Atisuto,” meaning “artist” in Japanese, is filled with graffiti stricken walls which were inspired by avant-garde artists who admired Japanese culture and expressed themselves freely by painting directly on the walls

07 (a). INSTALLATIONS Kala Ghoda Arts Festival 2018-19

The installation expresses the importance of time defining and capturing events that can be created in the exact same manner. A union of space and time creates an event. Event cannot individually exist without time. This pavillion is a pause in the event. The change of time transforms the space and this idea is amplified through the play of light and shadow within the pavillion and in a manner that the pavillion gets inhabited by the people. The perception of this break in the event through the passage of time is unique for each individual, thereby getting inscribed in ones memory as a moment in time.

58

07 (b). INSTALLATIONS Dalal Street Lit Fest Exchange 2019

The installation expresses the importance of water and its sources. Various installations and Danglers were placed in and around the building during the fest symbolising the water conservation and its needs and water source as the treasure. This Live project was a part of the DSLFX as the main theme for the year 2019. These installations were made out of waste platstic water bottles.
