by Seth Halpern, Editor As I considered the cover story for this issue, I was burdened by the top stories in the news these days. Politically, there is upheaval. Our president is facing accusations at every turn. Gun violence is resulting in marches and protests (often punctuated by violence). Sexual harassment allegations (often confirmed) at Christian leaders as well as high profile celebrities seem to becoming the norm. We’ve all watched the 24 hr news or even the local nightly newscasts to see a continual downward spiral of ungodliness. Unfortunately, recent development in our own region has brought us into the national spotlight. So, “where is God?” we may ask. If He’s

here, then why are these things happening. Well, He IS here and these things ARE still happening. Yet, there are things happening that don’t seem to make the news. Tragedy, slander, accusationsthese make “ g o o d ” news. For some reason, h u m a n s “itch” to hear about such things, much in the way that we slow down to look at car accidents.
Sure, we say that it’s terrible, yet these are the things that sell newspapers and increase TV ratings. All you have to do is look at the TV lineup on most channels to find a never-ending listing of crime, murder, g h o s t s , zombies and other “dark” programs. D o n ’ t

the plethora of shows about real-life tragedy, murder, adultery and the like. Fortunately, there is some “good news”. It may not sell well but just ask Ashley Ehlert. Her mother, Marysville’s Sheryl Lynn Donovan was in the news recently for being a missing person for 10 days. Thankfully, she didn’t end up on the news or TV show as a tragedy or cold-case investigation years from now. Instead, she found her way back home. It’s a great story and one that puts a smile on our faces. But there’s another part to this story. Ashley, the daughter of the missing person, wants people to know that her mother’s return was because of prayer.

••• Best Day Ever •••
Easter’s in the Bible by April James I have a headache, too much reading me thinks. I had thought of writing how Easter or Resurrection Sunday fell this year on April 1st, April Fool’s Day, but that what Jesus did on the cross was no joke. I wanted to give perspective of how Easter itself came to be, so I googled “what does Easter mean?”. To my surprise, the first answer given was “the most important and oldest festival of the Christian Church, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ”. Well, that is not what I expected; I was expecting bunnies, eggs, a pagan fertility goddess, etc. Then I was further surprised to find “Easter” is in the Bible, in the King James version to be exact, Acts 12:4 “…intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people”, speaking of Peter. I might have thought the word to be in more modern versions, not King James. I looked at a variety of translations including the New King James Version; they all used the word “Passover” instead of Easter; Easter may be found in other translations, just not the ones I looked at. I started looking into the pagan origins of the bunny and other customs associated with Easter but didn’t want to get too far off the topic of Jesus. Jesus is the reason we acknowledge Resurrection Sunday, after all He is the one who died and was resurrected, not the bunny. When delving into Christ’s death and
The Voice of the Christian Community, Serving Yuba, Sutter, and Butte Counties
resurrection, Romans 6:3-5 (AMP) tells us, “…the fact that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? We have therefore been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory and power of the Father, we too might walk habitually in newness of life [abandoning our old ways]. For if we have become one with Him [permanently united] in the likeness of His death, we will also certainly be [one with Him and share fully] in the likeness of His resurrection”. To me it sounds like we have something to celebrate every day, the great hope we have in our new life in Jesus. Yes, there are pagan influences tied with some Easter tradition. How we observe the day, as with all things, is best covered in prayer and led by the Lord. We need to be careful not to throw the baby out with the dirty bath water. Let’s consider the opportunity we have to share the true message of Jesus Christ and how to do it without compromising biblical truth. Jesus was the master story teller using everyday things in life to give thought provoking and life changing spiritual object lessons. What Jesus did that famous Passover is no joke, He did not shed his blood for no reason; the question is how will we, you and I, present it as relevant for our culture today? www.beyondthesilvercoin.org
by Christy Boals www.gracefilledpurpose.com Is this your best day ever? Recently, I handed my five-year-old three marshmallows and he proclaimed, “This is my best day ever!” Wow. Wouldn’t it be great if we as adults could allow the happy little things to influence our days like that? What if when we woke up in the morning our first thought was, “This is great, I have another day on planet earth! I can’t wait to see what happens today.” Better yet, what if we actually looked for the happy things, the blessings, hiding throughout our days. Ann Voskamp’s book, “One Thousand Gifts” made a huge impact on me in this area. She was challenged by a friend to write down one thousand blessings. The book is about her journey as she pursued that challenge and how it changed her outlook on life. As she started writing things down, she was able to see the blessings hiding in plain sight. As I have written my own list of gifts, it has helped me see good things even in days that I would not necessarily call my best. That list has also helped me see God’s faithfulness in showing up over and over to surprise me with blessings: the sun shining through an oak tree; a perfect spider web covered in dew drops; a little
boy excited about a few marshmallows. But what about the days that are really hard? As Ann continued on her journey of discovering gifts, she learned about seeing the blessings even in the dark times. I also believe God is still there in those times waiting to show us the good gifts He has put throughout our days and help us look at situations from His point of view. Someone told me about a video they saw about a mom having what she thought was a rough day. Then she overheard her daughter tell her daddy about the day from her point of view and everything “bad” that had happened was actually “happy” in the little girl’s eyes. May we not be so caught up in the perfect that we fail to see the best. My challenge to all of us is to look for the gifts in each moment, “good” or “bad” and maybe this will be our best day ever! “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23 I would highly recommend Ann Voskamp’s book, “One Thousand Gifts: A Dare To Live Fully Right Where You Are” published by Zondervan. Available at Crosspointe Christian Books.

TODAY’S THOUGHT by Bill Crossley “But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” Samuel 16:7 Today’s thought: I truly am my worst critic. I would berate myself over the least littlest things. I would say to myself: “I was ugly because I wasn’t tall enough” or “my hair wasn’t cut a certain way” or “my clothes weren’t a specific style.” I used to
convince myself I wasn’t valuable because I never attended college, or I never scored high enough in school. I personified the word defeatist. Until one day God reminded me my identity is not based upon artificial and superficial means. God reminds Samuel, that all such exterior appearances are futile. That a person’s true worthiness comes from the heart of an individual. Just think how different life would be today if humanity would take this truth to heart. I challenge all of us to make today be the day for the beginning of new beginnings. Let’s leave the judging to the One who judges all righteously.

CBA MARKETPLACE MONTHLY NEED + DEPENDENCE = PRAYER
Most of you know that NDP is actually the acronym for The National Day of Prayer. There is a full-page ad on the back of this issue of the Ambassador giving full details of the event. Please check it out and plan on joining with many people from the community. We are blessed by the fact that both Christians and nonChristians (traditionally) have attended past NDP events. As far as my alternate acronym for NDP, it is critical for us to recognize two key issues as it relates to prayer. First is the fact that we are easily motivated to pray when we have some desperate need. Secondly and more challenging is our desire to pray when life is going great. The principle is this; prosperity breeds complacency (in many
areas in our lives) but specifically as it relates to our relationship with God. Want multiple examples? Read the Old Testament. Sources suggest that an average Christian prays 3-7 minutes a day (including meal time prayers). Quite often when I talk to believers about time in prayer, I hear this comment. “I run out of things to pray for.” My response,

“read the news.” There are unlimited items to pray for both in this country and abroad. In my opinion, the reason people run out of things to pray for is because they are praying about issues related to themselves or people tied to their own network of family and friends. I hope that challenges you to be move committed in your personal prayer life. I know it
challenges me as well. (Editor’s Note: If you are in need of prayer topics, look no further than the monthly Ambassador Prayer Calendar. It’s on p. 7 in this issue) Back to NDP. We have the opportunity to gather at the National Day of Prayer breakfast on Thursday, May 3rd to pray about a variety of topics that impact our nation and the world. Won’t you join us? In addition to prayer, we have two great speakers who will be challenge us as believers to live out our faith and be “salt and light” in this very dark world. LIFE MATTERS presented by Yuba-Sutter Right To Life Supreme Court Justice Elana Kagan: California Law “Gerrymandered” to Force Pregnancy Centers to Promote Abortion by Steven Ertelt LifeNews.com You know an abortion law is bad when pro-abortion Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan condemns it during oral arguments. But that is just what happened at the Supreme Court this morning when it considered a lawsuit over a California law forcing pregnancy centers to promote abortions. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in National Institute of Family and Life Advocates v. Becerra, a lawsuit brought by pregnancy centers that don’t want to be compelled to advertise abortions. During the arguments, Kagan, an abortion activist appointed by former proabortion president Barack Obama, says the law was specifically written to target pro-life pregnancy centers. As Bloomberg reports: U.S. Supreme Court justices cast doubt on California’s requirement that licensed pregnancy-counseling clinics tell patients they might be eligible for free or discounted abortions. Hearing arguments in Washington, justices from across the court’s ideological spectrum suggested the law might violate the speech rights of clinics that oppose abortion and promote childbirth. Justice Elena Kagan said the law appeared to be “gerrymandered” so that it targeted those facilities. “If it has been gerrymandered, that’s a serious issue,” said Kagan. Kagan was not the only judge on the high court’s pro-abortion side to condemn the California statute. “Even some of the liberal justices voiced concern over parts of the law during an hour-long argument in an appeal by a group of non-profit facilities called crisis pregnancy centers of a lower court ruling

upholding the Democratic-backed 2015 law,” AP reports. And it reported that one key Supreme Court justice appears inclined to rule against the law. The centers seemed to have a strong supporter in Justice Anthony M. Kennedy, who is normally the deciding vote when the court considers ideologically divisive issues. He asked only questions that were hostile to the law, and at one point said he thought at least one of the law’s requirements was a clear “undue burden” on the clinics. Alliance Defending Freedom President, CEO, and General Counsel Michael Farris argued in court on behalf of the pregnancy centers. “Today, before the United States Supreme Court justices, I argued on behalf of the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates that the California law forcing pro-life pregnancy centers to advertise for abortions is unlawful government-compelled expression,” he told LifeNews after the oral arguments. “A government that tells you what you can’t say is dangerous, but a government
that tells you what you must say— under threat of severe punishment—is alarming.” Farris continued: “When the government decides what people should and should not say, other freedoms are sure to disappear soon after. The government exists to serve its people, and not the other way around. Even if you are not pro-life, do you want the government setting up its own advertising mandates for nonprofit organizations and then punishing any who disagree? The First Amendment does not allow the government to force you to speak its message. That’s especially true when you are pursuing a religious mission of simply providing resources and support to women free of charge.” “California has the heavy burden of justifying its law under the Constitution or else the law must be struck down to give freedom back to the people. After arguments this morning, I am optimistic the justices will find that the state has not carried this burden and will continue their long tradition of giving speech the highest level of protection it deserves,” he concluded.
The case, National Institute of Family and Life Advocates v. Becerra, challenges a 2015 California law that forces pro-life pregnancy centers to advertise abortions. Oral arguments will be heard Tuesday. Thomas Glessner, president of National Institutes of Family and Life Advocates, told the McClatchy News Service the law forces about 200 pregnancy centers in California to be “abortion referral agencies.” Abortion activists with NARAL and the Center for Reproductive Rights argue that the law is necessary because pregnancy centers “manipulate and deceive” pregnant women. But Jay Hobbs of Heartbeat International pointed out these pro-abortion groups have not produced one single testimony from a woman who has been harmed by a pregnancy center (other than a few abortion activists who were trying to trap pregnancy centers). The law charges a cumulative fine of $1,000 for every repeated instance that the notice is not communicated to a client. This law sabotages freedom of speech by forcing organizations to encourage actions that are in direct opposition to their religious beliefs and counter the mission and purpose of their organizations. Similar government-sponsored speech for pregnancy centers has been struck down as unconstitutional in Austin, Texas, Baltimore and Montgomery County, Maryland, and New York City. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit upheld a federal district judge’s decision to allow the law to remain in effect in October. The Supreme Court will decide whether to reverse the ruling, halt the law, and affirm that forcing the centers to provide the free advertising contrary to their core mission is a violation of their constitutionally protected freedoms.

Finding Freedom in God’s Perfect Peace If you would like to experience the peace and transformed life that God can provide through Jesus Christ and you are willing to commit your life to the only one who can truly set you free from your sin, you can pray to the Lord right now and ask Him to forgive you of your sins. Because of what His Son, Jesus, did by dying on the cross, your sins will not be held against you by God anymore. You can experience freedom for the rest of your life on earth and then have a life in Heaven with God for eternity. God’s part of the deal is already done. Your part is to confess your sins, repent (or change your ways) and believe that He is Lord. If your life is out of control, let Him take over control. Why Do Men Risk It All? by Chuck McCaul Recently the governor of New York resigned as a result of being caught in a sex scandal Gov. Eliot Spitzer allegedly was involved in hiring a prostitute on several occasions. TIME, in partnership with CNN makes this observation: “Thus ended a public career that had once seemed promising enough that Spitzer was discussed as a potential 2012 Democratic presidential nominee. Spitzer apologized for his “private failings,” but he said nothing to explain why he would have thrown it all away, why he risked so much. He had built a reputation as an ethical crusader, and as a former prosecutor, he knew well the myriad electronic and surveillance tools that reveal hidden arrangements for crimes like prostitution. Just last year, Spitzer had signed a law that lengthened jail time for johns from three months to as much as a year.” An article in the Philadelphia Inquirer asks this question: “Why would someone as rich and powerful as Eliot Spitzer put his family, his job and his promising future on the line for an alleged $4,000 date with a prostitute?”
Why indeed! I’ve asked myself that question many, many times in light of my own failings. One psychologist commenting on the issue chalks it up to man’s nature since prehistoric days. “The desire is not a function of status or power – it’s a question of availability.” He’s not far off. The problem is with men (for that matter, mankind altogether). There is darkness and the potential for the worst kind of evil in all of us. I didn’t used to believe that as strongly as I do now; however, I’ve seen and experienced it first hand. Brother…don’t think for a

moment that you are above temptation. Don’t think for a moment you are strong enough, holy enough, educated enough or protected enough. Given the right circumstances you might be surprised what might come out of you. Look down through history and you’ll see that the best of us have fallen. So why do men risk all for a moment’s pleasure? It may be a prostitute, a glimpse at porn on the internet, in a magazine or on hotel room TV. It may be drugs, cheating or deception. It’s not within the scope of this short article to explore all
the possible reasons (perhaps I’ll write a book someday), but here’s one thought: PRIDE. Pride in our victories; pride in our successes; pride in our humility! Pride causes us to think that we are above others. How many times have you looked down on someone else because “you were right”, or you perceived them inferior in some way – skill, knowledge, doctrine? How many times have you inwardly gloated a little because of another person’s failure? How many times have you scoffed at someone who failed morally, thinking “What a jerk? What a wimp? What a sinner?” Come on, be honest. Let me ask you this: What are your secrets? What are your hidden struggles? You see, pride will also cause you to keep them to yourself for fear of being revealed or looked down on. I would highly recommend to you, my friend, not to let those things that are secret strongholds or what the Bible calls “little foxes” remain. Deal with them. Find another man to whom you can pour your heart out and be accountable. Much more can and should be said, but this is enough for now. Don’t risk all that you are or all that you could be because of pride.

Missions to Russia? Really?
Does it really make sense to include Russia as a country to reach for Jesus? The quick answer would be found in these scriptures: Matt. 28:19 and Mark 16:15 – “Go into all the world and preach” and “make disciples of all the nations.” But is it practical and reasonable to go to this country? The population is 144 million in 6.6 million square miles. Mr. Putin does not allow open evangelism and public distribution of religious materials by outside visitors. Since 1989 the Gideons have distributed over 52 million copies of God’s Word to their own people. We’re not sure how

much long this will continue, but they praise God for what He has allowed them to do and trust Him for the future. The mission organization E3 Partners. org is active in sending short-term mission trips to Russia. They have 6 trips planned for 2018. E3 stands for evangelize, equip and establish. They focus on partnering with local Christian pastors such as the Russian Baptist Union. They are careful to follow the rules of the land but be assured that God is alive and well in Russia. Please be in prayer for those who follow God’s call to reach the lost in this huge land.
Continued From Page 1 - “Prayers Answered“ Yes, prayer. God still hears our prayers and answers them. Ashley and others were praying for her safe return and God heard and responded. She wanted people to know this and shared an eightminute Facebook Live video thanking God and those who prayed because she fully believes that those prayers brought her mom back home. You can watch the video at Ashley Ehlert’s Facebook profile. We don’t know how and why God answers the way He does. We know that many devout, sincere and faithful Christians pray for something and it does not come to pass. We probably will never know why this side of Heaven. We know that we live in a fallen, sinfilled world and the choices that people make result in harm and tragedy. Can God stop it? Is He able? Does He care? The answer to all of those questions is “YES”. However, our finite minds cannot understand the “Why” of our Creator’s decision. That’s when we must trust. Our faith is about just that, Faith. True, we have a Creator, Designer

who calls us to trust and worship Him. He wants to be our Father and gave His own Son to make that happen. It is, in fact, the only way that can happen. We don’t know why it took God having to send Jesus to be tortured and murdered so that we can become children of the His. There is a lot we don’t know or understand. Yet there is also a lot that He has revealed to us in His Word and by His Spirit. The bottom line is this. This world has fallen away from it’s creator and owes us nothing. We can try to make our space on the planet a little brighter, but the world is fading away and will end in destruction one day. We, however, are children of Father God who beckons us to call Him Daddy and tell Him our thoughts and needs. He will hear us and act appropriately. If we watch and listen closely, we will see His hand at work in our lives and the lives of others around us, even through the cloud of tragedy.

Leading Your Grandchildren To Christ
Much has been written about how parents can help lead their children to Christ, but have you ever thought about what role you, a grandparent, can play in leading your grandchildren to Christ? One visitor to our website recently shared her own experience in this area: “I must tell you that after reading Joy in the Journey to my five grandsons, they each asked Jesus to be Lord of their life. We read aloud the sinner’s prayer and invited Jesus to take over their lives. This was after much discussion and a lot of questions to which they needed answers.... Your site was an instrument used to save souls of five young men from ages 10–16. We hope you don’t mind that we printed out copies of the journey for each boy for reference.” Leading her grandsons to Christ must have been a tremendous experience for this grandmother, as you can imagine. And there’s no reason why you can’t have this same experience too. You may not actually get to be there when your grandchildren make the decision (although you may), but you can
definitely play a key role at every stage along the way. Here are some ideas: 1. Get Down On Your Knees. If you want to become a tool in the hands of God, the first thing you need to do is get down on your knees and pray. Intercede on behalf of your grandchildren. Ask God to provide you with opportunities to share the gospel with them or to be a Christian role model. The key is to let God know you’re available and then to keep an eye out for the opportunities He opens up. 2. Be A Positive Role Model. After prayer, one of the surest ways to get your grandchildren interested in the gospel is to begin living it out yourself. This means more than simply going to church. It means modeling the character of Christ in through your love, encouragement, and wisdom. If you live out your faith, over time, your grandchildren will come to see that something is different about your life. And you can count on their inquisitive young minds to begin asking what it is.
3. Talk About Your Faith. Don’t be shy about your Christian faith, but don’t be pushy about it either. Look for opportunities to draw conversations with your grandchildren back to God. For example, if you’re out on a nature hike with your grandkids, use the splendor of creation to direct their attention back to the One who made it all — God. Children are looking for this sort of spiritual guidance, so don’t be afraid to give it to them. 4. Provide Y o u r Grandchildren With Christian Resources. Many excellent Christian resources exist today that help communicate the gospel to children, including books, music, games, and videos. Why not give some of these resources to your grandchildren as Christmas presents, birthday gifts or as a “just because” present? Of course, you’ll want to check with their parents first to make sure the resource is appropriate for the child and that they don’t already own
it. 5. Be Available. There’s nothing like being there. With so many dual-income families these days, parents often don’t have as much time as they’d like to spend with their children. This is where you can step in and help fill the gap: -Offer to babysit your grandchildren while their parents are at work. -Commit to being your grandchildren’s number one fan and show up at all of their sporting events. -Offer to help drive them around to their various activities after school. (This is a great opportunity to spend some quality one-on-one time with your grandchildren.). -Volunteer to be a sponsor at your grandchildren’s youth group or to teach your grandchildren’s Sunday school class. -Do anything you can think of to create opportunities to spend more time with your grandchildren. -You never know when such opportunities will turn into impromptu occasions to share the gospel with your grandchildren. Shared experiences like this also create a bond between you and your grandchildren that will make them much more receptive to the gospel when you do share it.

EDITORIAL GOD AND SCIENCE By Jon Skillman Shortly after the Parkland Florida school shooting, celebrity astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, tweeted: “Evidence collected over many years, obtained from many locations, indicate that the power of prayer is insufficient to stop bullets from killing school children.” Because he cites no such evidence, I’m left to assume his statement is a flippant, sarcastic and arrogant mockery of people of faith. Tyson, considered the most brilliant astrophysicist this side of planet Ork, maybe a brilliant scientist, but a theologian…not so much. Harvard cognitive psychologist, Stephen Pinker concurs with Tyson’s views, stating: “School shootings prove the absence of a benevolent God. Such events cast doubts on the idea that there is a benevolent shepherd who looks out for human welfare. What was the benevolent shepherd doing while the shooter was massacring school children?” My first reaction was; hey, you all kicked the Benevolent Shepherd out of school years ago…and now you ask, where was He? Academia may have removed any question of God from our public schools but He still remains the answer. It’s almost as if these scientists are saying, all we need to do to stop school shootings is; stop believing in God and stop praying.” But wait a minute, what possible correlation is there between believing in God, praying and school shootings? God
didn’t pull the trigger and my prayers came after the fact and were for those affected by this tragedy. Then I wondered…by following the same illogical logic…if science didn’t believe in gravity, would I weigh less? At least there is a direct correlation there. Then I thought, could this have been an unconscious admission, by science, that there is a God? I mean, think about it, if not believing in something changes the outcome of events…then there must have been something to believe in in the first place. Yikes! I’m starting to sound like an intellectual. So Here’s my hypothesis on how to stop school shootings: Everybody believe in God and follow the teachings of Christ. What do you think? I really can’t fault the intellectual elite for making such ignorant statements regarding God and prayer. Sadly, it is their pride of intellect that keeps them from knowing God. Good and evil don’t exist on their slide rules and God does not enter into their equations. Maybe that’s why they struggle so to find out how things work. Don’t get me wrong, I’m thankful for all the advancements science has made. But science is not the source...it simply discovers what God has already created. I believe God and science can coexist but science must first allow itself to discover God.

“I Can Only Imagine” a better Christian Movie I’ve seen many a Christian movie and I must say that although they mean well, many of them are just not very good. It is torturous to sit through two hours of bad acting and a predictable storyline. I used to say (tongue in cheek) that I think Christians are not allowed to make good movies. Thankfully, there have been some really good ones in recent years. And one of the best from my purely subjective viewpoint is “I Can Only Imagine”. Honestly, I was very unexcited about it while my friends were waiting with anticipation to see it. As I expected, they all raved about it and encouraged me to see it. Angie and I like true stories, so we went while it was playing in Yuba City. Wow! It literally took my breath away. I had trouble exhaling during some scenes because of the incredibly powerful father- son relationship. I don’t know if it would hit me quite so hard if I didn’t have strong feelings about my own relationship with my father. He’s gone now but we had a difficult relationship (at least that’s how I viewed it). Without giving away too much of the story, it’s about Bart Millard the leader of the band Mercy Me and what he went through emotionally (and physically) in his relationship with his father prior to writing the breakout song for which
Seth Halpern - Editor the movie is titled. I unapologetically share that I cried several times during the film and after. The best part of course was the forgiveness that resulted as Bart processed his wounds with the grace of God. The acting was superb and the story was so poignant that it provoked thought and discussion for days after. This is what a good Christian film should beone that engages our souls (mind, will, and emotions) and leads us to deeper relationship with the Lord without distracting the us with poor moviemaking. If it is still playing when you read this and you haven’t yet seen it, please do yourself a favor and go see it. Or you want to wait until it comes out on DVD so that you can get your box of Kleenex and cry in the comfort of your own home!

Joseph & Dana Brennan Joseph grew up in New Jersey. After graduating high school and a few years of college, Joseph then served his country honorably for almost six years in the United States Navy. After his enlistment, Joseph completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Education at Fresno Pacific University. He then went on to complete his Master’s degree in Political Science. Currently, Joseph works for Assemblyman James Gallagher in the 3rd Assembly District. Joseph attends weekly Yuba-Sutter Christian Business Alliance meetings as a representative of James Gallagher. Dana was born and raised in Bakersfield, California. After graduating high school in 2003, she went on to Eastern University, just outside of Philadelphia, PA. Following her college graduation, Dana moved back to Bakersfield. She has been working for Senator Jean Fuller since 2007, first as her Press Secretary and Field Representative in the State Assembly, then as the Senator’s Deputy Chief of Staff overseeing the district operation. Joseph and Dana moved to the greater Sacramento area in December of 2015 so Dana could serve as Senate District 16 Chief of Staff when Senator Fuller became Senate Republican Leader. They have been married for over six years and have two beautiful children, Isabella and Joseph. The Brennan family currently attends Adventure Church in Yuba City and lives in Plumas Lake.
