By Seth Halpern Editor Years ago most of us could not conceive of the first three headlines. Unfortunately for our world, they are now a reality. A recently released hidden video, clearly shows a senior Planned Parenthood official in a negotiation with an “undercover customer”. Dr. Deborah Nucatola was recorded giving “prices” for organs and other parts of aborted babies. Selling human fetal tissue is a federal offense and congress has now called for an investigation. But this shows that the abortion provider is continuing their
efforts to line their pockets with “blood money”. If it wasn’t hideous enough to kill babies through abortion, the thought of profiting from the sale of their remains is more than most of us can stomach. Not many decades ago, this procedure was banned, but now it is a lucrative, albeit despicable, way to make a living. My, how we have “evolved”! In 1976, just three years after abortion was legalized, a strapping young heartthrob named Bruce Jenner brought a smile of American pride to the nation as he ran, jumped, and powered his way to the Gold Medal in the Olympic decathlon. Now, nearly 40 years later, after enduring
life with the Kardashians, Bruce has decided he is now Caitlyn going from being a role model on a box of Wheaties to a role model of gender confusion. This revelation comes on the heels of our nations Supreme Court overturning the natural pattern of families in most all cultures through thousands of years. Five appointed justices (only a single one more than the dissenting vote) has stripped away the rights of 13 states that did not want to bow to the tidal wave of societal peer pressure. Again proving that our nation and Bruce Jenner has “evolved”. (Please note the sarcasm here.) The latest news item on our list of
headlines involves the one of the business that helps cheating spouses to find their “match”, in other words, another cheating spouse! 37 million (yes, million) people who subscribe to the “dating” site Ashley Madison were shocked to hear that the site had been hacked and information about their sin, as well as personal photos, has been compromised. (I’m not sure how many readers are sympathetic). I was more shocked to learn that 37 million people subscribe to a site that helps people have affairs! The company boasts on their website that they are the most “reputable” company to provide this service. This is the kind of thing that used to take place

STO P, LO O K & L I ST E N By Paula McBride I thought of Marie as my right arm—I depended on her that much, certain she could read my mind. Marie was my classroom assistant for eight years and worked in that position before I came and remained for many years after I retired. Recently, however, circumstances changed, and she found herself looking for a new job. (Thankfully, she didn’t have to look long.) Bob is a short-term volunteer with the mission where I served. His work training fire-fighters has been sidelined while he recovers from heart surgery that required a four-way bypass. Patty went to the mission several times each year with handmade quilts and other donations. Suffering from thyroid cancer, she doesn’t know when her next trip will be. A precious family with deep roots in our community has found themselves following God’s call to the east coast. Everything for them will be new. Is there a life event that has redirected
the route of your life? Certainly, my return to “civilian” life after being a missionary is not as tragic as losing a job, being diagnosed with serious disease, or being uprooted from everything I’ve ever known, but there’s enough intensity to flood me with compassion for the uprooted and re-placed. Our minds know God is in control, but our natural self swings on the pendulum of faith and feelings. Sometime we just plain hurt. So, how am I handling re-entry into “civilian” life and secular activity? Starting immediately, I’ve had to stop, look, and listen. First, I had to stop faulty thinking. There are no civilians in the kingdom of God, only soldiers who dress for battle every day. And with the Christian soldiers, there is no secular activity. Whether I wash dishes, walk the dog, or read a book, I do all for the glory of God. Oswald Chambers says, “A spiritually vigorous saint never believes that his circumstances simply happen at random,

nor does he ever think of his life as being divided into the secular and the sacred. He sees every situation in which he finds himself as the means of obtaining a greater knowledge of Jesus Christ.” Then I had to look—or stop looking. I can’t compare myself to the missionaries who remain in Vicente Guerrero and consider that they are more spiritual than I. I have to look at Christ and look for what He has next for me. I have to look deeply into the wisdom of the Word and work it out in obedience while I wait for direction. Then I look at others to see what kindness and encouragement or word from the Lord I can give them in my everyday life. I have to listen to the voice of the Lord in my spirit. He says, “You are still valuable, influential, and useful. For now, wash the dishes, walk the dog, and read a book. Wait and pray. I’ll show you the next step when it’s time. You may think you’ve retired (again!), but there’s still work to do!”
Oh, may I be found faithful even in doing what I feel is so little for the Lord. May each of you who feel redirected or sidelined, know that God is at work now more than ever. Paul wrote in Philippians 1:6, “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” He’s not done with us yet, friends! Stop, look, and listen to Jesus!
He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he
hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

Let Go…Or Be Dragged By Ronnie McBrayer A friend who has some experience with rodeo horses sent me a most picturesque proverb: “Let go or be dragged.” Whether this phrase was first spoken by a Zen master who had achieved enlightenment, or by a battered cowboy pulling cacti from his backside, it is the unmistakable truth. Take my friend’s horses as an example. Training such animals requires lassoing, roping, and haltering. Incredible strength,
unwinnable war, and whatever we have dug our claws into will drag us into a bloody pulp. Or, we can accept our limitations and admit that we are not omnipotent. We can accept life for how it is, even when life isn’t fair (when is it really fair, anyway?). We can let go. And in this surrender – this little act of dying – we stop our suffering. We get to live again. For this is the counterintuitive way of the cross;
patience, and stamina are needed to match a horse. But sometimes, as the proverb goes, the breaker becomes the broken. A point is reached where the trainer must regroup, or risk being ground into the corral’s dust. Think of the little one who refuses to leave the playground. Haven’t you seen mothers and fathers, quite literally, hauling the kicking and screaming child to the car? What about the dog that finally catches the school bus he has been chasing for years? Now what does he do? Victoriously sink his teeth into the bumper like it’s a chew toy? This much is certain: We all will face situations, diseases, circumstances, relationships, people, challenges and conditions that are larger, stronger, and longer-lasting than we are. We have two options and only two options in such encounters. We can keep fighting an
the paradoxical power of Christ: We only live once we have died. We only gain by giving up. We only win if we surrender – let go or be dragged. At first blush this sounds something like “Christianity for Weaklings,” and some will find it intolerable. “Give up? Surrender is for cowards and quitters!” Such objections ignore the fact that there are some things that cannot be changed by brute strength. Further, such objections belittle the way of the cross. Read again those familiar crucifixion accounts of Jesus, and there you will see that letting go requires more than a noble struggle, more than hanging on – infinitely more. It requires everything. Let go, or be dragged. Ronnie McBrayer is a syndicated columnist, pastor, and author. You can read more at www.ronniemcbrayer.me.
Season Check By April James Summer is quickly coming to a close, autumn will soon be upon us in our part of the world. The colors of summer will begin to fade, leaves will fall and daylight shorten as nature prepares for a winter slumber. Yet in other parts of the world there is continual life and growth, where winter is only a date on the calendar. There is lush vegetation full of life year round, where temperatures only vary by a few degrees through the seasons. Then other places go into a hard winter nap when even the sun does not shine. Do we recognize in nature a similarity to our spiritual life? Are we continually thriving in our walk and relationship? Growing and producing life, changing the scenery in the world around us? Or, is there a slipping into fall or entry into winter? Nature is influenced by its geographic location, how close it is the equator, the closest place to the sun. Likewise, our spiritual life is also influenced by how close we are to the Son or the distance we have moved from him? Unlike nature we can choose our location, even if we cannot change our physical location, we can change where our heart abides and mind dwells. It’s important to step back occasionally to do a season check, an honest look at
where we are spiritually. It is easy to slip into complacency, to become comfortable when life is going well. In the spiritual realm if we are not moving forward, growing, we begin to decline – the glory begins to fade. If we find ourselves fading, losing fervor for the things of God, entering into dormancy, we need to stop, reposition our thoughts and desires back upon the Lord, drawing back into closeness with him before we slip further into a winter of the soul - lifelessness. We can cry out to him to visit us once more, to refresh us, to restore us; we can take steps to return to our first Love. God tells us in Jeremiah 29:12-13 TLB “In those days when you pray, I will listen. You will find me when you seek me, if you look for me in earnest.” Let us not slip, fall asleep, or grow weary in well doing. Seek to keep Jesus, the Son, at the center of our universe, the One who gives us life abundantly, who nourishes and calls us his own.

24th Annual Praise In The Mountains By Dennis Hulbert Not many outreach musical ministries can humbly state: “Wow, after 24 years of outreach, God says, Do it Again”. Are we really getting ready to host the 24th Annual Praise In The Mountains? Praise In the Mountains is hosted by the musical group Machaira (muh-kai-ruh), a non-denominational Christian band with its roots in the foothills of California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains. Playing and singing together in Northern California for the past 25 years we have recorded and released five albums, appeared in the feature-length film: Something in the Dark, and toured Russia by invitation which produced the filmed documentary: 151 Hours, The Russia Tour. Our latest album release is Play Loud Preach Hard. Hosting Praise in the Mountains has been the backbone of Machaira’s ministry. God has used this one event to mold us. We sold tickets the first couple of years, but we grew to understand that if we were going to have something that reached out to those who don’t know Christ and the fact the Gospel is a free gift, we were to do away with the practice of charging. We stepped out in faith for expenses to be covered. It was then we started to experience the abundance of God’s grace and provision, allowing the event to grow
to a day of ministry to whole families. We were able to add Jump houses and give away thousands of dollars in prizes. Winning a free guitar signed by the band became a signature part of the Machaira presentation. I can recall countless times these free guitars ended up in the hands of someone in need of such an instrument and now is ministering on a church worship team. The free give away also has come to include giving away $1,000 at the end of the night with the free raffle. Not only did this one
addition to the program keep most of the attendees through the altar call, each year God used this one act to bless someone in need. One year a Food Ministry that was facing a $1,000 debt won. One year a mission trip that was about to give up that needed exactly $1,000 to undertake the trip won. One year a person that needed the funds to visit a dying mother on the east coast won. One year a person that was getting their home electricity turned off won, I could go on and on. We’ve also been having a baptism pool at Praise In the Mountains. As years passed, we continued to struggle to find willing servants to help serve at this event. Finding folks to park cars, staff jump houses and pack band gear to and from the site was always difficult. Then one year God truly blessed us. That particular year we turned to the Teen Challenge group ho had come to enjoy the event. They saved the day and it proved to be a win-win. Since then, we focus on using recovery groups and special program ministries to come and serve. We have even been blessed with having youth from Juvenile Hall programs assist in parking cars
then get ministered to as they enjoy the concert. This has also taught us to keep the focus on a “Servants heart” attitude. Each person who helps gets a Servant tee shirt Also, no one performs without being anointed with oil and prayed over. We encourage each band member to stay the entire day and when not ministering from the stage to be out in front encouraging the other bands or ministering from their tables or within the audience. We discourage groups from just showing up, performing and leaving. We have no VIP area. The other day I was in Walmart and a man I did not recognize came up to me and said “You’re the guy from Praise In The Mountains.” He shook my hand and went on to say, “Over the years I have had four members of my family come to know Christ through this event and they are all now serving the Lord in Church. We have also had several family and friends get baptized at this event, thanks for having Praise In The Mountains”. Yes, this is confirmation. It’s time again for the longest running free gospel Concert and yes God told me so.

If you would like to experience the peace and transformed life that God can provide through Jesus Christ and you are willing to commit your life to the only one who can truly set you free from your sin, you can pray to the Lord right now and ask Him to forgive you of your sins. Because of what His Son, Jesus, did by dying on the cross, your sins will not be held against you by God anymore. You can experience freedom for the rest of your life on earth and then have a life in Heaven with God for eternity. God’s part of the deal is already done. Your part is to confess your sins, repent (or change your ways) and believe that He is Lord. If your life is out of control, let Him take over control. AB 775 Update By Travis Dodds Earlier this year, the National Abortion Rights Action League (or as they now refer to themselves, NARAL Pro-Choice America), published an update to a 2010 report that claimed that crisis pregnancy centers (CPC’s) use deceptive tactics to lure women through their doors. The update contained unsubstantiated and inadequately documented “research” done by an individual. This led NARAL to claim that 91% of pregnancy resource centers lie to their patients. This report is not based on any clear evidence, but rather hearsay. Yet, hearsay gave traction to Assemblyman David Chiu of San Francisco and Assemblywoman Autumn Burke of Los Angeles, and they ran with it. Two months ago, the California State Assembly allowed for the first step of an aggressive assault on our free speech when they stamped their approval on Chiu’s and Burke’s, Assembly Bill 775. Though the authors of AB 775 insist that it simply holds everyone to the same public health standards, the bill, in fact, targets privately-funded pregnancy resource clinics, , including A Woman’s Friend in Marysville, by exempting government-funded clinics who provide Medical and Family PACT (the key difference being that these clinics provide
birth control). This bill that not only puts government words in non-government mouths, but in so doing, also forces religious non-profits to violate their core values. Why should a clinic that receives no government funding be forced to do a job that the government is apparently not doing well enough. Luckily for the prolife remnant of California, the CPCs did not let a moment go by before organizing an offensive against AB 775. There has undoubtedly been much pro-choice “weeping and gnashing of teeth” thanks to the tireless work of representatives from several local CPCs who have practically lived at the capitol building, up to and beyond May 26th , the day that AB 775 was finally brought to a vote in the Assembly. Kudos to the office of James Gallagher for their incredible help and coordination with these clinics. However, despite the impassioned, thought-provoking and clearly logical speeches given by many assembly members, including Shannon Grove, Donald Wagner and our very own Mr. Gallagher, forty-nine assembly members voted to approve this atrocious bill, opposed by only twenty-six lifeaffirming votes against it. Here’s the good news: though the Senate Health Committee approved AB775, the Senate itself has yet to bring
the bill to its final vote. The Senate is currently on recess for the summer, and they only have until the 11th of September to vote on the bill. There is still time for YOU to make a difference. Can it be simple coincidence that, just last week, a video was released (and went viral) of Planned Parenthood’s senior medical director marketing aborted fetal body parts? Can it be coincidence that this video inspired several national figures, including Dr. Ben Carson, to campaign for the defunding of the pro-choice organization? It certainly provided some much-needed encouragement for the voice of the pro-life movement.
The next Senate floor session is August 17th. The time that remains before that session is critical for pro-life California to make its voice heard. Similar bills have already been drafted and defeated in Montana, Oregon and Washington state. Our time is NOW. We must spread the word. We must contact our districts’ state senators and voice our concerns over this bill. Above all, we must pray without ceasing. (Ed. Note: For more on this and other important legislation, read our exclusive update by Ambassador sponsor, Assemblyman James Gallagher on p. 13)

Legislative Update from Assemblyman James Gallagher With the Legislature’s summer recess upon us in Sacramento, there is no shortage of bills still winding through the legislative process that will impact our communities. Despite vigorous opposition from myself and several my colleagues, Assembly Bill 775, the so-called “Reproductive Fact Act,” has passed through the Assembly and on to the Senate, where it was recently approved by the Senate Health Committee. This bill targets the invaluable pregnancy resource centers in our state by requiring them to post a notice at their clinics that advertises the services of publicly funded clinics. Hundreds of concerned citizens, many of whom have dedicated their lives to offer hope and counsel to women in need, poured into the Capitol in recent weeks to object to this bill because it would force a violation of their conscience by providing a referral for abortion services. The suggestion that our crises pregnancy resource centers would offer anything but the utmost heart-felt care to those in need questions the integrity and motivation of some of the true pillars of our community, and I am proud to stand with the countless Californians who oppose this measure.
Fortunately, there is some good news to report from the Legislature. Senate Bill 128, the “End of Life Option Act,” was recently pulled from the Assembly Health Committee because it lacked the sufficient number of votes required for passage. This bill would have allowed doctors to prescribe medication that would assist terminally ill Californians in ending their life. The failure of this bill to receive approval in the Assembly is a significant victory for the dignity and sanctity of human life. My own legislation, Assembly Bill 517, recently passed through the Senate Education Committee on a 7-0 vote. This bill provides parents with easier access to materials that will be distributed to their children during sexual education instruction. It will also require, if a school elects to bring in outside consultants to provide this instruction, that the training of these instructors be listed on the notification that is sent to parents. This bill will empower parents with the tools they need to participate in this important conversation with their children. It now moves on to the Senate Appropriations Committee. As we move forward in the legislative session, I look forward to the opportunity

Pro-Life Matters presented by Yuba-Sutter Right to Life Obama Administration Revives “Death Panels” Targeting Elderly and Disabled Patients By Steven Ertelt LifeNews.com The Obama administration is reviving the controversial “death panels” that former vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin famously lambasted and that have been condemned by pro-life groups as targeting disabled and elderly patients. After years of debate about whether the government should be paying doctors to encourage so-called end of life planning, which could involve pushing patients to seeking assisted suicide or give up basic medical care or lifesaving medical treatment, the Obama administration is reviving the idea. The Obama administration is pushing a proposal to pay doctors for “advance care planning” in Medicare. The National Right to Life Committee, a top pro-life organization that is holding its annual convention in New Orleans, Louisiana this week, has already condemned the idea. The group told LifeNews.com that the Obama administration should instead provide
for balanced, neutral materials to assist patients in implementing their own values. The pro-life group is worried that the advanced care planning “death panels” the Obama administration is pushing will push patients to reject lifepreserving medical treatment and compel them to craft legal documents embodying premature death. “Although advance care planning proponents give lip service to honoring individual references,” said Burke Balch, J.D., director of the National Right to Life Committee’s Powell Center for Medical Ethics., “in practice its pervasive focus is

to ‘nudge’ patients to agree to forego lifesaving treatment and even assisted feeding through the use of unbalanced, distorted, and even inaccurate information.” Balch told LifeNews: “Advance care planning is openly promoted as a means of slashing health care spending. Far from opposing the concept of advance
directives concerning treatment, the National Right to Life Committee provides a ‘Will to Live’ version on www.nrlc.org and supports alternatives that provide truly informed consent to decisions about medical treatment. But we must fight the tax funding and promotion of advance care planning counseling that cannot be adequately monitored for bias and that typically is less about discovering and applying patients’ own wishes than about pushing them to accept premature deaths.” The Powell Center at National Right to Life recently released a report entitled “The Bias Against Life-Preserving Treatment in Advance Care Planning,” available at http://www.nrlc.org /uploads /communications/ advanceplanningbias2015.pdf.

Believe It or Not! Continued From Page 1 in secret at night at a cheap motel. Now it is a big business! We’ve come a long way baby! The only headline that hasn’t evolved but is still exactly the same is about the teacher who rose from the dead. His name is Jesus. He dealt with people 2000 years ago. One of those people was in an adulterous relationship. He told her that she is forgiven but needs to stop sinning and live right according to God’s commands. He was a Jewish teacher, yes, but he was also the one predicted thousands of years before by holy men of God. They said that one would come as a man, but was truly God and would take all of the sin of the world and put it on his shoulders and bear the judgement and punishment for all. He taught for 3 years and spoke much truth. He died at the hands of people mocking him. But it was part of his plan, because if he didn’t die, he wouldn’t be able to sacrifice himself for the penalty of all of our sin. He proved himself when he rose from the grave and ascended to Heaven. He is preparing a place in Heaven for every person who receives his gift of forgiveness through his sacrifice. This is not a truth that has evolved but has stayed the same since God planned it from the beginning. Culture will change. Headlines will become even
CBA MARKETPLACE MONTHLY Christianity
more shocking and depraved. Yet, the truth of Jesus Christ will not change. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. People will be fooled into believing that we need to “evolve” and “go with the flow”. Jesus said “I am the way, the Truth and the Life. No one can see the Father (God) except through Me (Jesus the Son). The prophet Isaiah said “And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness; it will be for those who walk on that Way. The unclean will not journey on it; wicked fools will not go about on it.” (Isa. 35:8) and Jesus said “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it” (Matt 7:13) If you would like to learn about this road with Jesus and turn to him to receive forgiveness, please turn to the invitation on page 11. We suggest that you contact us at The Ambassador or one of the churches listed on page 3 for more information on how to walk with Jesus.
• Christianity = Pro-life • Christianity = God’s Design for Marriage • Christianity = Sharing your Faith • Christianity = Forgiveness • Christianity = Overlooking offenses • Christianity = Speaking the Truth in Love • Christianity = Living what we claim we believe • Christianity = Loving our enemies • Christianity = Sacrifice Okay, I know my headline is a bit long but hopefully it captured your attention. I, of course could go on and list dozens of other qualities that should be evident in the life of a genuine follower of Jesus Christ. There is something significant missing from that list which is the foundation of our Christian lives yet somehow can find its way to the back burner. Christianity = A committed intentional investment into our relationship with
Jesus Christ! I know what you are thinking. Your saying to yourself, duh, that is obvious. It may be, yet many genuine Christians lose their way because they neglect time spent with Jesus. Jesus commended Mary for spending time with Him while Martha was busy with other details. Jesus spent three years investing into the lives of his disciples before He launched them into ministry. So let me wrap up with this. Feeling dry, empty, depresses or discouraged? Maybe it’s time to evaluate how much time you actually spend in Prayer, how much time you spend in the Word, how much time you spend in intimate fellowship with other believers and how much time you spend in worship and weekly church attendance? Why am I addressing this topic? Because currently I am evaluating my own relationship with Christ as well and need to do some of those things that I did earlier in my Christian walk when I was more passionate and fired up for Him. What about you?

Georgia School District Forced To Pay Atheist Group $22,500 For Coach-Led Prayers

Carrie Dedrick, Editor, ChristianHeadlines.com A Georgia school district will be forced to pay the American Humanist Association $22,500 over allegations that local high school coaches led their teams in prayer before practices and games. The Christian Post reports that the Hall County School District of Gainesville, Georgia will use its insurance to foot the bill. According to the lawsuit, coaches at Chestatee High School and North Hall High School prayed with student athletes and used scripture verses in team materials. North Hall football coaches allowed a banner with scripture on it to be used at a game, while the Chestatee marching band director allowed students to elect student chaplains.
The American Humanist Association (AHA) sent letters of warning, then filed suit against the district. The case was reportedly settled out of court, but the district is now responsible for the payment of the AHA’s legal fees. District Superintendent William Schofield said that the district did not violate any state or federal laws, but would by training its employees regarding religion in the public school setting. AHA Executive Director Roy Speckhardt celebrated the settlement, saying it was a major “victory for the separation of church and state.” “When public schools remain secular, they uphold the rights of all students to learn, free from unnecessary religious intrusion,” Speckhardt said.

Adultery Website Ashley Madison Hacked Jim Denison Denisonforum.org Ashley Madison has made famous the byline, “Life is short. Have an affair.” The social-networking site promised “discreet encounters” for married people who used it to arrange affairs. It turns out, their encounters were not so “discreet.” A group of computer hackers has begun leaking large amounts of user data obtained from the Ashley Madison site. The hackers are demanding that the website be taken down immediately, or they will release “all customer records, including profiles with all the customers’ secret sexual fantasies.” Ashley Madison has now suspended its fee for users who want to delete their accounts. But what about information the hackers already possess? Will Ashley Madison users who delete their accounts spend the rest of their lives wondering if they were too late? I was recently reading through Joshua, and came to this cryptic statement: “the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the people of Judah could not drive out, so the Jebusites dwell with the people of Judah at Jerusalem to this day” (Joshua 15:63). God had repeatedly warned his people against allowing Canaanites to
live among them, lest they corrupt the nation with their immorality and idolatry. His concern became the people’s reality when they were led into Baalism and other heresies. What appeared to be inconsequential turned out to be
being tempted to do, no matter what the culture says. For instance, you’ll hear that Christians divorce at the same rate as non-Christians. In fact, evangelicals who attend worship regularly are half as likely to become separated or divorced as
catastrophic. Whatever the temptation, we can count on the tempter to make two deceitful claims. One: “everyone is doing it,” as though popularity makes sin less sinful. When you’re tempted, don’t assume that everyone else does what you’re
evangelicals who never attend worship. Just because our culture magnifies a lie doesn’t make it true. And don’t believe that popularity is propriety, which leads to the second lie: “no one will get hurt.” Few who enrolled on the Ashley Madison site would have
done so if they knew what we know now. God warned his people to “learn not the way of the nations” (Jeremiah 10:1), for “many are the sorrows of the wicked” (Psalm 32:10). The enemy hates us, so we can know that every temptation is intended to result in our hurt. What seems pleasant and popular today will be ruinous tomorrow. If you continue in a sin because it hasn’t yet been discovered, know that you’re being set up. The longer you persist, the greater the damage when your sin is revealed. Cancer untreated only gets worse. As you read these words, does a particular sin come to mind? If it does, repent of it now and claim “the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit” (Titus 3:5). And ask Jesus to help you be the holy person he wants you to be. Oswald Chambers assures us, “the Redemption means that Jesus Christ can put into any man the disposition that ruled his own life, and all the standards God gives are based on that disposition.” Ashley Madison is a parable for all temptation: “Be sure your sin will find you out” (Numbers 32:23). When it comes to sin, St. Augustine was right: “Thou must be emptied of that wherewith thou art full, that thou mayest be filled with that whereof thou art empty.”

EDITORIAL “WHO LET THE DOGS OUT?” By Jon Skillman Well they done did it! The Supreme Court has unleashed the beast and set free the hounds of hell. Some of you are probably thinking; ‘Ole Jon has gone off the rails again’. Well maybe a little, but I don’t think the court or the nation realizes the ramifications of this same-sex marriage ruling.
Prior to the court’s decision, the Beast’s was pretty much held in check, but now he’s free to harass anyone who speaks ill of his protected class. And it appears that anyone who doesn’t worship the beast and take on his mark will not be allowed to conduct business in our once free marketplace. Hmm...this sounds kinda familiar...kinda like a revelation or something. You all may be wondering what this mark of the beast may be. Well you’ve seen it! It illuminated The White House on the evening the court’s decision was announced. It’s emblazoned on placards, flags and dyed hair... the mark of the beast today is...the rainbow. God’s rainbow... His symbolic reminder to never flood the earth again. But now every rainbow Christophobe, every rainbow faithist bigot will be descending on the church like a
herd of rabid gerbils demanding the church not only except their unrepentant lifestyle, but to be complicit as well. Hey! Not to worry, says the court, this will have no bearing on the church or your Constitutional Right to freely express your religious beliefs. Well maybe when the court starts ruling on constitutionality rather than ideology and quits legislating from the bench I could take some comfort in that, but? In the meantime, if I were a pastor, and a same-sex couple came to the church demanding I married them, I would cordially invite them to attend our mandatory premarital counseling session. At that session I would explain the biblical definition of marriage. After they calmed down, I would go on to read Leviticus 18:22, Romans 1:26,27 and especially 1 Corintians 6:9,10. If they were still there when I came to, I’d inform them that, when in God’s house, house rules apply. Then before my eyes swelled shut I’d look them in the eye and say, “And for these reasons... I’m out!” Before they could get the ACLU on the phone, I’d say, “But here’s the Good News!” and present the Gospel of Jesus Christ...never miss an opportunity to witness...who knows what will happen. I do know all things are possible with God and no one is beyond His saving Grace. As the LGBT community celebrate their apparent victory, we should be praying for their salvation. That is the only thing that will save them from The Supreme-supreme court’s judgment.
9. Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men. 10. nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 9-10

BELIEVE IT OR NOT! No doubt you saw (and hopefully read) our cover story. If it took you by surprise, that was my intent. For quite a while, I have been pondering, praying about, and discussing with others how to boost readership. One of my closest mentors has been encouraging me to do something more “eye-catching” on the cover. In fact, this was pretty much his idea (so, if you don’t like it, I’ll give you his contact info!). The goal of any print media is to get people to pick it up. However, I never want to “cross the line” or run something that is “sensational” (in the bad sense). The classic example of that is The National Enquirer. So, I thought I would do something that looks like it along with the Ripley’s Believe it or Not idea. Interestingly, this past month had some news items that were practically “unbelievable”! Take a look at the headlines and ask yourself if you would see them a few decades ago. Not likely. But we have become as the “frog in the kettle” and now these headlines are true. I’m certainly hoping that every reader (including you) but especially those who find a copy of this issue in the marketplace (that is salons, restaurants, medical offices, etc) particularly those who don’t know the Lord will read the entire article and
Seth Halpern - Editor see the last of the headlines regarding the “Controversial Teacher”. Of course, this refers to Jesus. That headline is one that shocked people 2000 years ago and needs to still shock people today. Unfortunately, most people are unfazed by that, so they may also be unfazed by the other stories that would have shocked us a few years ago. Often our culture prides itself on being accepting and tolerant. We always hear that Christians are intolerant and judgmental. We do need to be accepting of the person but with the encouragement to repent and seek God’s forgiveness and power over sin. No, we shouldn’t be judgmental, but we should not go along with the world’s thinking and embrace every rebellious behavior. Let’s unite as the church and be alert and active in our world and maybe we will stop seeing headlines like these in our generation!
