By Seth Halpern The Middle East is in chaos as the battle between Israel and Palestine is heating up. Thousands of South American children are showing up at the U.S. border being dropped off by traffickers at our “doorstep”. Another Malaysian Airlines plane crashed (this time shot down) killing 300 people. A typhoon in the Philippines has wreaked havoc on that tiny country once again. Day after day, newspapers and 24 hour news networks churn out tragedy after tragedy. Some are caused by human evil. Others by so called “acts of God”. Yet, the suffering continues and keeping up with the news can seem

hopeless. Isn’t there any Good News?? Fortunately, the answer is YES! There are occasional stories of heroism often preventing yet another tragedy. Some are stories of hope and inspiration about those who achieve the seemingly impossible in the midst of challenging circumstances. Best of all though is the Truth of the real “Good News”. Yes, that is the English translation of the Greek word Euangelion (or Evangel- where we get Evangelism, etc). It is truly good news because it is the “news” that someone (Jesus or Y’shua in Hebrew) had come to pay the price for the sins of people in the world. Instead of us having to appease God through works, hoping to be “good enough” to enter

Heaven and please God, anyone who would follow Y’shua would be cleansed before God! Wow, that certainly should have been Good News to the people in Israel to whom Y’shua-Jesus came. The same good news still applies to us today and we can have the hope of eternity with God AND the power to be free from sin today! Unfortunately, just like 2000 years earlier, most today do not take God up on His offer. Instead, we try to live their life without God and when difficulty comes (whether in the form of finances, health, relationships, addictions or anything else), we find ourselves without the peace, hope, and help that God provides. Those who choose an ongoing relationship with

our Creator, can read the newspaper and watch CNN with anticipation of God’s final plan. Instead of fear, we can see that these things were all written about long ago and we have the record of it in God’s Word- the Bible. If you would like more info on how to respond to this Good News, see the back page “Finding Freedom in God’s Perfect Peace”, then see page 3 for several partnering churches to help you with your decision or email us at editor@ambassadornewspaper and we’ll help you get started on your new journey with God!

INSPIRATION TO LISTEN OR NOT By April James

As I sit with pen in hand contemplating what to write, I think of the Lord’s wondrous ways. How his word is alive, still speaks to his children today and is always good, just as he is. I may not always like His words at first as it may mean I need to make a change in my life. Yet, even then, I know it is for the best. I know my heavenly Father loves me, that out of his vast love he corrects and disciplines, instead of letting me continue on in ways that are not good for me. Just as an earthly father who loves his children, knows what’s best for them, will give them guidance and correction. I want to be quick to listen and obey, though I do fall short in both areas more often than I care to admit. I even find myself arguing, trying to reason out why I should be allowed to do something that perhaps is not best, like having a big bowl of ice cream covered in sauce with all the toppings just before going to bed. It sounds good, I know it would taste good, unfortunately to do so would bring regret later when I step on the scale. We can laugh at such an illustration passing it off as it is only a bowl of ice cream, but there is a principle that can apply to other

areas in life. God knows the outcome of my choices and wants to help me avoid the consequences. As I listen, choosing to obey, my pouting often turns to a smile as I thank him for caring and loving me. I thank my Lord for the wisdom he imparts. Sometimes what He has to say takes me on a new course of adventure, charting out new territories with him. Like examining an exquisitely cut stone, you can turn and study it one way marveling in all its beauty and glory, then turn it again to find a new brilliance and depth; so it is with our Lord. When I see a facet in him, in his character, a side I had not known before, I take delight and joy in it. I am always marveling at my new discoveries as I dig deeper in his word and spend time in his presence. Life as a Christian should never be boring; just think, we get to have a personal relationship with a creative God and partake of Living Water. When I think of living water, thoughts of a bubbling flowing stream come to mind. When we enter that stream, going along

FORMER EDITOR OF ‘YOUNG GAY AMERICAN’ TURNED CHRISTIAN CELEBRATES MARRIAGE TO WIFE Heather Clark/Christian News Network A former founding editor for a prominent homosexual magazine is celebrating his recent marriage to his wife, and is addressing the critics who have blasted him for turning his back on the homosexual lifestyle. Michael Glatze says that he left homosexuality six years ago by the prompting of the Lord after working as the editor of Young Gay America for over a decade. The change began in 2005 as a he watched a video of a forum that he had participated in with Judy Shepard, the mother of Matthew Shepard. As Glatze watched the footage, he saw himself in a different light and began to question that path that he had been traveling. “Knowing no one who I could approach with my questions and my doubts, I turned to God,” he told WND after his conversion. “I’d developed a growing relationship with God, thanks to a debilitating bout with intestinal cramps caused by the upset stomach-inducing behaviors I’d been engaged in.” Glatze eventually walked away from the magazine as he continued to pursue God, and left a note on his computer

that ended with “Homosexuality is death, and I choose life.” In October of this year, Glatze married his girlfriend Rebekah at an outdoor ceremony in Bluffton, South Carolina. In a letter written last week and published by WND, Glatze gave thanks to God for his wife and addressed homosexual critics who have called his bride Glatze’s “prop” and “victim.” “I have been married now for a little over a month—and it has been the greatest month of my life thus far!” he wrote. “I am so grateful for Rebekah, for God, for His provision, for my new inlaws, for my family that traveled from far and wide to join in our special day, and for the prayers and support that have flooded our way since October.” Glatze explained that he views homosexuality differently than in his youth and now believes that there is freedom in Christ. “I do believe that homosexuality is a flaw, a mistake, a distortion and something from which one can be completely restored,” he stated. “I do know that this viewpoint flies in the face

INSPIRATION GOOD MORNING WORLD

THIS MONTH:

Elizabeth Hexberg

What Am I Supposed To Do?

Often, we feel inadequate in our spiritual progress and wonder if we are “doing it right”. We worry if God is truly happy with how ‘spiritual’ we are. Too many times we are so focused on what we are supposed to be doing that we miss the quality of why we are doing it (Luke 2:1-4). God is more concerned with the quality of what we do than the quantity or frequency with which we do it. If we read our Bible slowly and ask God to reveal things to us, we are far better off than someone who can simply say, “I read 25 pages today.” We should ask ourselves not only WHAT we should do but WHY we should do it? If we spend time in prayer and then in silence, waiting on God to speak, are we not better off than the person who continually prays request after request to God? (Psalm 46:10). God wants a relationship with us, not a bunch of robots that read, worship and pray. So, if you are having a tough time and wondering “Am I doing it right?”, then spend some time with God and evaluate the quality of what you are doing.

Good Morning world. A brand new day. Dust off the dirt from yesterday. Refreshed renewed, anticipating, the many blessings God has waiting. The sky, the sun, the rain, the Light. Ever glowing, Golden ,Bright. Honeyed cherries scent the breeze as birds sing praises in the trees. Love unfolding all around. Heaven’s sprinkles dust the ground. Breathe it in, and fill your heart. Give thanks to God, How Great Thou Art. Pull on those jeans, so faded blue. Go dance a while in morning dew. Smell the flowers, drift away. Good Morning World A brand new day

Allow Him, through your relationship, to show you what He wants from you. What He wants is different for each person. We are all called to worship and minister, but we are called to different ministries.

“KIDS’ NOTES TO GOD!” Dear God - I bet it is very hard for you to love all of everybody in the world. There are only four people in our family and I'm having a hard time loving all of them.

Then, when God shows you what to do, do it wholeheartedly. (Ephesians 6:7) Rev. Elaine Briefman, Licensed Marriage Family Therapist is on staff at Hope Point Church of the Nazarene in Yuba City, www.hopepointnaz.org.

Dear God In school they told us what you do. who does it when you are on vacation?

••• SAINTS IN NEED •••

Sharon Little and Lisa Ringelberg Pastor Sharon Little has been pastoring East Linda Pentecostal Church of God in Marysville for ten years. She is a true servant. She has lived on the church property in a 5th wheel travel trailer for most of that time. It is a very simple dwelling and she has been grateful to have it. This past February, Pastor Sharon was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer. She came through that bout of hospitalization and tests and began serving once again. Though she sometimes had to preach sitting, she continued in her calling hardly missing a service, and she grew stronger each day. On June 27th, having been admitted to the hospital because of what appeared to be a mild stroke, she endured brain surgery to remove a tumor. Post-surgery, she wasn’t able to walk or move her left

side. Two days later, she took 20 steps. On July 11th, she was released from the hospital to her daughter Lisa’s home. Through it all, the Lord has been with her. Her progress has astounded the doctors. She has already returned to teaching Bible Study and is looking forward to getting back in the pulpit on Sundays. Her greatest desire is to be able to return home. However, her travel trailer cannot accommodate a wheelchair or a walker. It is no longer accessible for her. The church has an area to set up a room for her. All facilities are there, except for a shower. The room is plumbed; however an in-ground drain will be needed, as well as some modifications to the room. A heater core is also needed for the hot water heater. What is really needed is some plumbing expertise. While the church she pastors is poor financially, the Lord has directed the congregation to give sacrificially. He has also promised that the needed resources will come from the Body of Christ. Can you be a part of the solution? This is an opportunity for area congregations to exhibit the characteristics of an Acts church. What if it were your pastor? Are you able to help financially or with labor or expertise? I’d like to introduce you to my nephew Andrew who has been battling stage 3 cancer. He is 10 years old and has had several surgeries. Andrew is a new believer in Christ. He has been leaning on Jesus to give him strength and peace as he is having to walk this difficult time out in his little life. During this time Andrew and his family have been experiencing Gods unconditional love and goodness through other believers.

the awesome power of God’s goodness and faithfulness through His people. They are needing more prayers and financial help that will go towards paying bills and other financial hardship that they are experiencing. If you feel lead to help out in prayer and with a financial blessing in this families time of need, Andrew’s family and myself are grateful for your willing hearts. DON’T MISREPRESENT HIM! By Dave Kugelman

If you owned a business would you want an employee who sells drugs as a side business? What about someone who was arrested for either spousal or child abuse? I’ll assume that you would not want this person working for you because they represent your business and that is a direct reflection on you! I wonder how Jesus feels about the number of (so-called) Christians who misrepresent Him on a regular basis. Romans 2:23-24 is an indictment for those who deliberately disobey Christ. “You are so proud of knowing the law, but you dishonor God by breaking it. No wonder the Scriptures say, “The Gentiles blaspheme the name of God because of you.” We have major Christian denominations who have disregarded the Word of God as it pertains to God’s design for marriage. One particular denomination

(which I won’t mention here but should) consider themselves pro-choice! I could cite other examples but I won’t. Fortunately many solid followers of Jesus have walked away from these churches because of their unbiblical positions. We are called to live a life that honors Jesus Christ and His Word. Luke 14:34 Salt is good for seasoning. But if it loses its flavor, how do you make it salty again? Commentary on this verse states: Salt can lose its flavor. When it gets wet and then dries, nothing is left but a tasteless residue. Many Christians blend into the world and avoid the cost of standing up for Christ. But Jesus says if Christians lose their distinctive saltiness, they become worthless. Just as salt flavors and preserves food, we are to preserve the good in the world and bring new flavor to life. This requires careful planning, willing sacrifice, and unswerving commitment to Christ's Kingdom. But if a Christian fails to be "salty," he or she fails to represent Christ in the world. How salty are you?

SAMARITAN VILLAGE

SAMARITAN VILLAGE Ministry Fact Sheet What makes Samaritan Village special to our Yuba/Sutter community? Although our Orphanage is across the world in Africa, those in our own community began the great work to dream about, pray about and do the hard work to develop the plans and finances to save these abandoned children in the early 1990’s. In 1994, the Orphanage opened with 2 children and a nurse in a small, rented home. Today, that work continues, and God has greatly blessed this mission. Samaritan Village now nurtures and cares for 30 children who were abandoned and have no one else. We are connected to our children in Tanzania personally as the founder of the mission, Elizabeth Mwalozi Mswia continues to live here in Yuba City along with a group of volunteers who raise funds to sustain the needs of the children. Many of the volunteers here have made personal mission trips to see and care for the children in the Orphanage. In 2012, we were blessed when a donor made it possible for the Director of the Orphanage, Josephat Mmanyi, to make a personal trip to Yuba City. He was able to share first hand with our community the exciting opportunities and blessings taking place at Samaritan Village. Ministry Name: Samaritan Village, Inc. What Does Christian Love Look Like? • Have you ever wanted a concrete mental picture of what Christian love looks like? We see many examples in Christ’s life and teachings in the Bible. St. Augustine defined Christian love like this: “It has hands to help others; it has feet to hasten to the poor and needy; it has eyes to see the misery and want; it has ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of man.” • In truth, we love God by loving other people. This truth embodies all men and women of all ages, races, social economic states and nations. The children of Africa (all children) were created in God’s image. These children are like our own, and we know them by name. God knows every hair on their head and has a great plan for their lives. Their faces are filled with hope and dreams, smiles and tears as they look to their future as children of God. • It is Christ who calls us to respond in “love” to needs of others. Our response is an expression of love and thanksgiving to God for loving us. We are to love the orphans for all they are worth. Being made in the image of God and having Christ die for them indicates that they have tremendous worth. We know that

Christian love is not based on the merit of its object, nor does it grow in anticipation of any return benefits for the love. We see others as inherently valuable and we want to nourish and cherish them. That is what we have been doing in Arusha, Tanzania. • Your love and giving has been the hands that help the orphans; the feet that have hastened to their poverty; the eyes that see their needs and the ears that hear their sighs and sorrows. Your love has abounded 100% on God/our children in Africa. On behalf of the Samaritan Village children, Thank You! In Christ’s love, Tara Clark Yuba City Board Samaritan Village, Inc. P.O. Anchored in God by: Branson Indelicato A “flood” has hit the masses in the past few years. Few notice it, and those who do sit idly by while it consumes everything. Nowadays, if you concentrate, you can see its results. The unchecked embrace of worldly values is ruining us, especially the younger generation. When I was in elementary school, for example, I never heard any of my classmates curse. This may just be a fluke, but everyone I remember was mortified of just saying “H-E-double hockey stick,” much less something worse. Now, my 5th grader brother will tell stories of how a kid he knows curses like a sailor. That’s just one of many possible examples. Violence and sexual impurity are rampant as well. How has our society become so corrupted? Is it that we have no respect for one another anymore, or worse, have we no respect for ourselves? Have we no respect even

for the Lord? It’s hard to be above it; I fall prey as well, but it is possible to find high ground. Oftentimes, I personally, can find an escape from worldly temptation by talking with friends rooted in Christ, or a godly person such as a pastor. By communicating with other Christians, one can find that they aren’t alone in being tempted. Being brothers and sisters with people in Christ should, and usually does, come with a sense of trust, which is truly awesome. Not only can that, but having friends in God help one see God in everyday life. More than once, I’ve seen God in the encouragement of a brother or sister in Christ. Just relaying a hard time in life with someone who cares is a way to anchor yourself in a more Christ-centered life. Of course, this isn’t to say that one should reside in a “Christ bubble.” For, as others are anchors for us, we must be anchors for others. And sometimes that isn’t easy. Speaking from experience, not everyone is open to the Lord’s help, but that’s where humans come in. We can relate and help people by pointing them in the right direction. And if each of us can be an anchor for another, with what can we be tempted? The best way to survive the “flood” is to have a firm foundation, to be anchored to the strongest source. I thank God that He is our source and He is on our team.

Ron Edmondson I have had an online ministry for over 15 years. God has humbled me with the way He has chosen to use this influence He has given me. I try not to take it for granted. One thing that has changed since I began ministering online…and it’s changed for all of us…is the rise of social media. Whether you believe it’s a good addition or not, we cannot deny it’s impact on culture or even on the church. Personally, I have chosen to use it for good as much as possible. Still, it disturbs me some of the ways I see Christians respond on social media. I can post one thing… whether serious or not…and I do use humor intentionally as a part of my online presence…and it never amazes me how someone might respond. I have referred to the practice as a slam and run. I just have to thank God at times for the delete option. :) But, it’s an example of a bigger problem. Christians aren’t always behaving well online. What we’d never say offline we have no problem saying online.

Seriously, this isn’t a personal plea. This is a Kingdom plea. Just as the world is watching how Christians respond in public they are watching how we respond online. We must be careful then with what we post. All of us will be misunderstood. But, we shouldn’t be blatantly offensive. Here are 7 ways Christians should behave online: • No soapbox -We are told to “do everything without arguing or complaining.” (Philippians 2:14) That doesn’t mean we can’t support causes we believe in, but they should be moral and Biblical issues, not personal agendas. • No public bashing – Unless you’ve practiced Matthew 18 principles, and even then it would be rare, don’t address your problems with others online. It’s not helpful and never promotes peace. (Romans 12:18, Hebrews 12:14) • No little jabs – We shouldn’t say things about others that may be misinterpreted as a stab against them. Guard your online tongue. (James 3). I see this especially as a passive aggressive tactic. We feel “safe”

THOUSANDS OF CHRISTIANS FLEE IRAQ AFTER ISIS ULTIMATUM Iraq’s Christians are escaping from the northern city of Mosul after the extremist group Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) issued a public statement requiring Christians to convert to Islam, pay a tax or be killed. The ISIS ultimatum gave Iraqi non-Muslims until Saturday, July 18 to comply, saying they offered three choices: conversion to Islam, a contract involving payment of jizya, (a protection fee), or “the sword.” Thousands of Christians, some who have lived for generations in their communities, are fleeing to surrounding areas, many of them to Kurdistan.

Refugees told The National Post they left everything behind. Patriarch Louis Sako told the AFP news agency, “For the first time in the history of Iraq, Mosul is now empty of Christians.” “In my opinion this is a very grave situation. No Western leader is moving to stop such a tragedy but they offer only empty words with no actions,” Dr. Munir S. Kakish, Chairman Council of Local Evangelical Churches in the Holy Land, told The Christian Post in an email on Sunday. “ISIS must be stopped before it wipes out Christians from other areas.”

AN ARAB PASTOR SPEAKS OUT ON GAZA David Lazarus Israel Today The following is an open letter from Shmuel Aweida to all those “peace activists” rising up against Israel. Listen carefully, Awieda is an Israeli Arab Christian pastor who knows of what he speaks! ------------------------------------------------ Dear so-called “peace-seeking people”, “pro-ceasefire people” and “peace and reconciliation activists”, Forgive me for not taking your nice dreams and peace demonstrations and wishes so seriously... People who didn’t care about the suffering people in Gaza under the Hamas regime for years can’t really be considered morally superior to any IDF soldier that’s on the ground there now. You might seem to be better and kinder, but not really... Sorry... If you really care, then free Gaza from Hamas and other Islamic jihadist organizations! How can you feel sorry for the innocent children hurt accidentally by Israel when you don’t care that the same children grow up to learn to hate intentionally? You claim to feel sorry for the hungry children while ignoring the poison they are fed every single day at Hamas and Fatah schools and on TV.

How can you feel sorry for the women crying now when you didn’t care that they’ve been humiliated, discriminated and even raped and killed regularly for years? Here’s another thing I don’t get: These kind, sympathetic, peace-loving people who automatically want and pray for a ceasefire in Israel’s war(s) against the evil, anti-Semitic, anti-human, bloodthirsty terrorist organizations like Hamas (not against the Palestinians) - they make Israel never finish “the job” and then on the top of it all, their governments and

West! I’m not saying that Israel is without any fault here, but sometimes I really wonder if the Palestinians’ best friends are in reality the ones that maintain their oppression under this Islamic regime? I simply don’t get it! Someone here needs to get a better grasp of reality! As much as I hate this war and the price that’s being paid by our dear soldiers and the innocent civilians on both sides, I hate the fact that it’s necessary! May the needed pain of war bear good fruit of peace for all! May the Lord of Hosts and Armies give us His Shalom! There has been quite a lot of activity in the social media in the past month. I was disappointed and frustrated of some my Facebook friends and the level of naiveté and blindness with regard to the real situation and the roots of the conflicting the Middle East. Do they really not see what the Hamas is all about or what Islam really is? Are they all so blind to what’s happening around us in Syria, Iraq and all over? Don’t they see what Hamas is doing to the poor population that lives under this terror daily? I don’t know why I keep

NGOs send billions of dollars of “aid” to this corrupt evil system. And guess what happens time and again - instead of feeding the hungry with food, they feed themselves with weapons. Instead of teaching the children math, they teach them hate and jihad against the Jews. Instead of building houses and hospitals above the ground, they build terror-tunnels under the ground. The tunnels found in the past days have cost hundreds of millions of US dollars to build! The IDF blew up millions of your money, dear nice people in the naive

I NOW PRONOUCE YOU SPOUSE & SPOUSE Michael Brown askdrbrown.org In keeping with its reputation of pioneering social madness, California has now passed legislation which eliminates the words “husband” and “wife” from state laws. As reported in the Huffington Post, “California’s same-sex couples may now be pronounced spouse and spouse after Gov. Jerry Brown (D) signed a bill [last] Monday eliminating outdated ‘husband and wife’ references from state laws.” The Post also explained that, “Senate Bill 1306 was introduced by state Sen. Mark Leno (D-San Francisco) to eliminate confusion and correct discriminatory phrasing in the California Constitution that contradicts state law.” Seriously? Referring to “spouse and spouse” rather than “husband and wife” is a way “to eliminate confusion”? And the terms of “husband and wife” are “discriminatory”? In “A Queer Thing Happened to America”, I pointed out that, “In Ontario, Canada, as a result of the legalization of same-sex marriage, all references to terms like husband, wife and widow were removed from the law books in 2005. In

Spain, birth certificates were changed from ‘Father’ and ‘Mother’ to ‘Progenitor A’ and ‘Progenitor B.’” Back in America, on January 7, 2011, the State Department announced that “The words ‘mother’ and ‘father’ will be removed from U.S. passport applications and replaced with gender-neutral terminology,” further explaining that, “These improvements are being made to provide a gender-neutral description of a child’s parents and in recognition of different types of families.” Improvements? Well, not to be outdone, California legislators have introduced a further “improvement.” According to a bill passed in the Assembly May 2014 (and by a vote of 51-13, at that; it is AB 1951), a woman could be designated as the “father” on birth certificates while a man could be designated as “mother.” What was the reason for such an insane piece of legislation? It was done to “modernize” the “definition of the family to reflect same-sex unions,” also removing “discriminatory” language. And note again that this bill passed through the Assembly with overwhelming

THE BORDER CRISIS: WHY ARE THE CHILDREN COMING? Jim Denison Denison Forum on Truth and Culture | www.denisonforum.org I don’t know a more divisive issue in America today than the border crisis. More than 57,000 unaccompanied children have come to the Rio Grande border in the last nine months. The number arriving from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras has increased tenfold in the last three years. How do we enforce our immigration laws while extending compassion to immigrants? Scripture requires us to “be subject to the governing authorities” (Romans 13:1; cf. 1 Peter 2:13). The Lord of the nations has “determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place” (Acts 17:26). Border security is clearly a biblical priority. At the same time, God warns us: “Do not mistreat an alien or oppress him, for you were aliens in Egypt. Do not take advantage of a widow or an orphan. If you do and they cry out to me, I will certainly hear their cry” (Exodus 22:2123). Making the situation more complex is the 2008 Feinstein Amendment, signed by President George W. Bush.

The law requires unaccompanied minors from countries other than Mexico and Canada to be housed in shelters and then released to family members or sponsors where possible while their cases are being resolved. Many of the children now coming to the U.S. are legally eligible for such treatment. Why are they coming in such numbers today? Honduras has the highest murder rate in the world, while El Salvador and Guatemala are in the top five. A civilian in these three countries is twice as likely to be killed as in Iraq during the height of the war. Boys are forced into gangs or killed; girls are raped and forced into prostitution. So families pay a human trafficker 18 months of salary to take their children on a 45-day, 2,000-mile journey to the U.S., where they hope for political asylum. One mother explained: “I would rather see my child die on the way to the United States than die on my doorstep.” One of our ministry team members just returned from two weeks in Guatemala. At night she heard gunshots as she went to sleep. She drove past a governmentrun orphanage, which is trying to care

THE BORDER CRISS CONTINUED FROM PAGE 15 for some of the 350,000 orphans in the country. International adoptions closed several years ago, since so many of the children were bought, coerced or kidnapped. This crisis shows no signs of resolution. A variety of proposals have been made, from repealing the Feinstein Amendment and forcing deportations to expediting the existing process, creating a pathway for political asylum within the affected countries, and forging “safe zones” for children. What would Jesus do? Please share your thoughts in our comments section. And know what Jesus is doing. He loves every child (Matthew 19:13-15), and

grieves for every family in crisis (John 13:35). He leads every official who is willing to seek his wisdom (Jeremiah 33:3), and uses his people as his hands of ministry to those in need (1 Corinthians 12:27). To join Jesus at work, we need solutions that are both legal and compassionate. President George H. W. Bush once stated, “Ours should be a nation characterized by conspicuous compassion, generosity that is overflowing and abundant.” And he added, “Any definition of a successful life must include serving others.” How successful will you be today?

7 WAY TO BEHAVE ONLINE CONTINUED FROM PAGE 14 evoking insults or cuts to another person online that we would never say to their face. Encouragement – Social media can be a great way to encourage others. We shouldn’t spam with massive amounts of posts. Few appreciate the person who reshares everything they see, but most everyone likes to read an encouraging word pointed especially to them. (Ephesians 4:29) Do to others – As we’d have them do to us. We should always think before we post. Pause. Breathe. Think. Post. Ask yourself how you would be impacted by the post before you post it. (Luke 6:31) Guard against pride – We have to be careful with self-promotion and bragging about

ourselves online. Granted, this is coming from one who has built an online platform online and I frequently encourage other pastors to do the same. It’s one of the best ways currently to engage people for Kingdom building. But, this is a reminder for me too. We must check our motives, guard our hearts and never allow our egos to rob glory from what God wants to do through our online presence. (Proverbs 11:2, 13:10) Not allow it to be a replacement for community – It’s easy to post “Happy birthday” or reply “Praying for you” without really doing so. We shouldn’t trade the functions of the Body for an online presence. (Acts 2:42-47, Hebrews 10:24)

I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU CONTINUED FROM PAGE 14 approval. In an equally absurd ruling in England last year, the Daily Telegraph reported that, “The word ‘husband’ will in future be applied to women and the word ‘wife’ will refer to men, the Government has decided.” According to John Bingham, “Civil servants have overruled the Oxford English Dictionary and hundreds years

of common usage effectively abolishing the traditional meaning of the words for spouses.” In the government’s proposed guidelines, “’husband’ here will include a man or a woman in a same-sex marriage, as well as a man married to a woman. In a similar way, ‘wife’ will include a woman married to another woman or a man married to a man.”

AN ARAB PASTOR CONTINUED FROM PAGE 14 being surprised... To my anti-Arab friends: But what really surprised me was that, with regard to this operation in Gaza, the hatred, revenge and racism that filled the [Facebook] statuses of those who support Israel. They expressed such joy over going to war and causing destruction (a joy I’m glad our leadership doesn’t have). The fact they quoted Bible verses didn’t make it any less stinking. So I threw those people out of my Facebook just like I did

with others that posted pornography and other disgusting stuff. Trash is trash is trash. Praying that God may protect our soldiers who are serving us and giving their lives for us - proud of the moral code of the IDF and the legitimacy of this necessary operation. Praying for those making the tough decisions - but with much more humility. I guess we need to pray that we’ll all guard our hearts from hatred, revenge, racism, pride and other destructive things that do not honor us, nor the God of Israel.

EDITORIAL THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE UGLY by Jon Skillman THE GOOD: The Supreme Court finally got one right. The court ruled that Hobby Lobby and other Christian owned businesses do not have to provide certain contraception methods in their employee’s health-care coverage if it violates their religious beliefs. But I fear this is a temporary victory. Democrats are already busy introducing legislation to circumvent the court’s ruling. These are the same folks (Congress) who, although not technically exempt from Obama Care, are offered a much sweeter package than the lemon being squeezed on John Q Public. Another troubling aspect of the ruling is found in the dissent written by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She writes; the ruling will open a Pandora’s box. Correct me if I’m wrong but, isn’t the court supposed to rule on constitutionality, not what the ramifications may be? It seems to me the court’s main precedent has become ideology rather than constitutionality. THE BAD: The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church USA voted to define same sex marriage as Christian. Wow! I wonder what Bible translation they found that? This is nothing more than appeasement...a move to bring the church in line with a fallen culture. This is unbiblical doctrine and false teaching? PCUSA members…it’s time to fight or flee. AND THE UGLY: Renown theologian and Bible scholar, Sir Elton John said, “If Jesus Christ were around today, he would support same sex marriage. In an interview, Elton said: “Things have changed. We live in a different

time. If Jesus Christ was alive today I cannot see him as the Christian person that he was and the great person that he was, saying ‘this could not happen.’ He was all about love and compassion and forgiveness and trying to bring people together. And that’s what the church should be about.” Wow! Well first and foremost, Jesus IS alive. An indeed, He is not the Christian man he was because…HE IS CHRIST THE LORD! GOD HIMSELF. And even though we may live in a different time, and things have changed, some things remain the same…and God is one of them. God’s Word doesn’t change. Not for Sir Elton and not for the Presbyterian Church! And it is not true that Jesus is ALL about love, compassion and forgiveness, He is also about obedience, repentance and judgment. But liberals simply hate a double-edged sword…it dulls their argument. Besides, wisdom does not comes from ignorance, “The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom…”Proverbs 9:10. AND FINALLY, THE REALLY, REALLY UGLY: The San Francisco Gay Pride Parade…the city’s annual celebration of perversion, sexual immorality and depravity…a celebration complete with city, state, and federal dignitaries. How much farther can we fall before incurring God’s wrath? “Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders…will inherit the kingdom of God.” 1 Corinthians 6:9-10.

Is The Ambassador For YOU? I’ve heard of some confusion among certain area Christians/churches over the purpose of The Ambassador ministry. They seemed to think that “The Ambassador wasn’t for THEM”. I thought it would be good to take an opportunity to clarify our mission statement. I felt the need recently, to revise our mission statement to the following: “The Ambassador communicates the truth of the Gospel which brings hope and peace to the discouraged and conviction leading to repentance for the compromising. Secondly, The Ambassador provides the Christian community with information on significant issues and events in order to promote unity/solidarity, prayer, and action” So, let me take a moment to explain. I believe there are three types of readers or potential readers: Unbelievers, nominal or compromising believers, and committed followers of Christ. I desire to reach all 3 groups with The Ambassador. Here’s how: First, the “wrap” or the front and back cover is designed to engage or pique the curiosity of unbelievers. If the cover headline is too “Christian” they will walk right by it so we try to make it relevant to them. Second, there are many, many, people who identify (or previously identified) as a Christian either because of growing up in church or a past religious experience, but for whatever reason they are not currently following the Lord. These people are not

Seth Halpern - Editor in church but they are in the marketplace (stores, offices, schools, etc). Our prayer is that some of the challenging, engaging cover stories, testimonies, or other stories would challenge them to seek God once again. We have received a lot of correspondence from people in that “group” particularly from the jails where we deliver. Many of you reading this column would fall into our third group of readers: committed followers of Christ. These readers will always find information on issues not generally found in the mainstream media. Issues of life, family and religious liberty. Also, local ministries and ways to serve, support, and pray are featured in every issue. Whichever reader group you fall into, rest assured, The Ambassador is for YOU! However, it is this third group, committed followers, who we rely upon to bring this ministry to the community. If you are a committed follower of Christ, I ask you to pray about helping to bring this vehicle to others in our community who need to know the Truth that will Set them Free!

If you would like to experience the peace and transformed life that God can provide through Jesus Christ and you are willing to commit your life to the only one who can truly set you free from your sin, you can pray to the Lord right now and ask Him to forgive you of your sins. Because of what His Son, Jesus, did by dying on the cross, your sins will not be held against you by God anymore. You can experience freedom for the rest of your life on earth and then have a life in Heaven with God for eternity. God’s part of the deal is already done. Your part is to confess your sins, repent (or change your ways) and believe that He is Lord. If your life is out of control, let Him take over control. For help, questions, or more information, contact us at The Ambassador or any of the churches listed on page 3.
