FutureSoft, a psychiatric health company, provides patients with software to help with medical information, prescriptions, and regulation. The Rorschach is the concept for this design. The test is a procedure in the psychologist profession used to diagnose patients. The test is a series of ink blots that allow someone to interpret it as they please. The Ink blot is a mirroring image that has over time changed from black and white to colorful renditions. FutureSoft is an open workplace that motivates employees to collaborate, promote a positive attitude amongst colleagues, and remain approachable for guests by using the Steelcase furniture and systems. The mirroring aspect is used loosely throughout the design. A positive color scheme can be seen throughout the space in the furniture, and the watercolor wall covering also helping motivate employees. Glass storefronts separate the oďŹƒce space from the workstations, to help with privacy but still allow employees to see outside and remain approachable.

Research Steelcase to better understand their products and how the company uses the furniture in spaces. Determine the industry and branding for a software company’s corporate headquarters and training center, named FutureSoft. Given an existing building use the Steelcase furniture and systems to design and drive the concept into an work space.

Research the design philosophy of steelcase. Given an existing building use this philosophy and Steelcase furniture and systems to design and drive a concept into an interesting work space. A strike of lighting can hit at any moment. It is first created by collected energy in the clouds. Once the strike happens, the energy forms into jolts and branches out until it hits something solid. The aftermath from the strike reverberates in the form of thunder. This is similar to how an idea pops in your head. Ideas cultivate in the brain until the ideas strike sending nerves across the brain in electric waves like a jolt of lighting to form into something physical like thunder. At Next the firm works as a brain where nexters can strike their ideas and jolt into the best direction to something real and thunderous.

Part of the culture, is the tradition of painting elaborate eggs on Easter. The aspects of a decorative Faberge egg, drove the concept of this project. The country was originally Czechoslovakia and divided into two nations. Chez Republic is represented by the trinket found in a faberge egg or the yolk of an Easter egg. Chez Republic is the new life or surprise found when the eggs break apart. Using the ornate detail of the faberge egg and implementing the aspects of old Czechoslovakia architecture into the design represents the country’s rich history.

Select a state and develop branding for a boutique hotel to include: a restaurant, bar, spa, and rooftop bar and grill space, each with their own branding. The Ramsey hotel is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The area is known for its many waterfalls, one of which is called The Ramsey. The concept of a waterfall is implemented through out the entire hotel. As a waterfall starts, water rushes to the overhang and forms a retreat that then falls into the gorge pool and creates a cloud of mist. The branding relates these parts to the specific areas with the building functioning as a waterfall.

elene

Design and brand a high end retail space for Jewelry. Space should be visually appealing to all ages, and display products to the public from the exterior. The name Selene is derived from Selenite. These selenite crystals are found in caves. The space mirrors a cavern with stalagtite shapes. High priced items are rhythmically displayed. Chandleries imitate selenite crystals piercing through the caves walls. The physical representation of the selenite crystals is shown through the design in the floor plan as well as design features showing symmetrical geometry with ridged angles. The finishes in the design also reflect the concept behind the selenite crystals. Use of colors, textures, and natural stones are seen in flooring, ceiling, walls, and furniture pieces.

Sync Counseling Center was designed to mimic a natural environment inspired by nature to promote stability. A neutral color palette corresponds with the colors found in nature using textiles such as wood and stone to enhance the nature concept. Curvilinear lines are prominent in the counseling center design allowing the patient to progress with gradual improvement, growth, and/or development. Harsh lines could be perceived as a negative atmosphere. Sync Counseling Center welcomes visitors with natural aspects allowing the patients and sta to feel more tranquil. Curvilinear lines allow the users to feel relaxed and at ease while visiting. Sync Counseling Center allows the patients to sync ones’ mind into nature.

Select a cityy within the US, research the city and d design an optometrist office, to include branding. Helix, inspired d by the nautilus shell shell, affords affords patients and staff privacy, comfort, and a need for exploration. The nautilus shell is a prime example of the Fibonacci sequence, where geometry meets nature. The spiraling effect in the shell creates a perfect geometric shape. Imulating this effect with its curve helps patients clearly see their own path to healing. Doctor visits can be very intrusive for some, but Helix provides comfort, and helps to refresh the mind and relax. Often patients feel the need for privacy and a quieter area for medical procedures and gathering information. Patients can also feel the need to explore, and can easily become intrigued by motion. Helix focuses on the wellbeing of patients by providing privacy, supporting comfort, and invoking exploration. Patients follow the spiraling details to their perfect vision where they can feel relaxed, empowered, and confidant.

Enchant is meant for a regal and sophisticated aesthetic. Modeled from the American Classical style, the chair makes a stance that is bold and masculine but with ornate femininity. Using pieces from the given chairs, the chair now speaks of romance.

Julie is designed for public settings and lobby spaces, and to provide a slightly curved posture. Julie is essentially a side chair for conversational groupings. The Fabric specified is a crushed velvet in two colorways, of lilac and navy. With her regal stance, Julie sits in waiting for delightful conversation.

Encompass / Gresham Smith / 2018 Software Revit / Enscape / AutoCAD

79

One of the first projects I began at Gresham Smith was an Encompass Healthcare Rehabilitation facility in Dayton Ohio. Dayton, is full of history. Case in point the Wright Brothers were born there, and many musems pay omage to the history of flight and the brothers. Dayton also is one of the most prosperous citys and was given the nickname “Gem City” due to the citys location amongst the Miami Valley Rivers’ bend and canals. Keeping in mind those aspects of the city our design team developed the project to reflect Dayton’s roots and stayed true to Encompass design standards. The facility was in relation to the sites neighbor Miami Valley Hospital to relocate patients to the new facility. After review of this hospital we chosse to incorporate the same and similar elements into Dayton. Seeing the project through from March to September and all phases of schematic design, design development, and construction documents our design team created something unique for our client and is to become a new standard and staple for future projects.
