“A fascinator is an extravagant accessory adorning the head/hair and is becoming the popular alternative to wearing hats to formal occasions. These elaborate headpieces can be found in a variety of shapes and colours and are generally made out of a combination of feathers, beads, flowers and netting. Not surprisingly, Fascinators evolved as an alternative to hats in the 18th Century when women began to style and decorate their hair with flowers, bows and feathers. The natural progression from hat to fascinator was evident along with the changing attitudes of women in society. However, change did not come about quickly. It wasn’t until 1957 when the death of Christian Dior, a highly respected and influential designer in conjunction with the occurrence of the feminist movement, women were prepared to forgo the hat. Taken from designer Fascinators.com follow link above for more info!

I Love ETSY. I guess I found out about it a little over a year ago when a friend of mine opened a store front there! But I slowly let it fade to the back of my mind until recently. Never again I can promise you that. I love DIY and ETSY is exactly that with a touch of elegance and class. I recently purchased a The Gilded Diva Fascinator from Sweet Grass Mill . Bio I have been designing jewelry since the late 90's. My beginnings were typical enough. I made a few pieces and showed them to my friends. When they made requests, I was hooked. I was persuaded to make hair accessories a few years ago and I must say it has been enjoyable. The demand for headbands in particular has been unexpectedly great, and that has been exciting. Jewelry will always be my first love, though, and I hope that shows through my pieces! All of her pieces are absolutely divine and she makes use of wonderfully vibrant colors. She will even do custom pieces. I have included the piece I purchased as well as a couple of others on her site that I think are marvelously fantastic!
