The ceramic is culturally very close to us. Humans have been using this material for thousands of years. We can control the shape of pottery by our hands simply; on the other hand, we can build our house by ourself with it. But the accuracy is also impotant for architecure. By parametric mould, I strike a balance between them.

Parametric moulds Compare with other building materials, ceramic is more ecofriendly and has acidproof, weatherability and long life cycle. The most important thing is that ceramic has good formability. People can form easily by themself; on the other hand, ceramic is a good choice for comprehensive community development. Ceramic has many advantages, but it lacks for structural property and accuracy. To solve those problems, the main structure should rely on other material and ceramic should be formed with small units. By parametric mould, people can manufacture many kinds of ceramic units which have self-similarity. At the same time, people can build more easily by themself in their communities.

I choose parks to be the site for this design.In my opinion, park is one of the center in communities. Residents can go there and do something to make their environment more better.

The unit, A-2, is a surface controled by lines. Rotate a array of lines by the same axis, we can get a unit which look like a plan twised. Using those units, we can combination a facade and control the holes on it. By controling the holes, we can create a space with good ventilation and visual transparency we want. The facade also can block the sunlight we don't want.

B-2_Lanscape on Parcking Space

The unit, B-2, is a surface controled by points. It is divided in many small plans. By the parametric mould, we can create all surfaces that we need. The facade composed of the B-2 units can be any surface that we want. We can also create a hole on the facade, so the sunlight or any other things can enter the space under it.

C-2_Ceramics Workshop

Diffirent from unit A and B, unit C become a part of main structure. The unit is arranged in grid. Gravity force is endured by ceramic units and steel. The lateral force between the units is endured by steel component. By the facade composed of C-2 units, we can control how much sunlight and wind we want entrance the space. At the same time, the facade can provide poeple for activity and cool down the space.

D-2_Bus Shelter

The space inside it can provide for pipeline or any other thing that need a long and continuous space. The opening of the unit can put things like potted plants or light bulbs.

The unit, D-2, is Schoen's Batwing surface, a kind of minimal surface. Mirrow the unit 24 times, we can get a prototype which can creat a continuous space inside.

Snakes are distributed all over the world. It can move on many kinds of terrain. The near-decade, GPI is decreasing. It means that the world is more dangerous than before.Bared “Feet”, the machine learned from snakes will become a new city under the war.

Snakes are distributed all over the world. It can move on many kinds terrain, wheather the surface is smmoth or rough. The skin of snakes is dry and smooth, their bodies are a strip wuthout any hands or legs. They use their muscles to control thier bones for perpendicular force and scales for parallel force moving on different terrains. 12

Use pneumatic cylinder to let the unit change its shape and control the distance of fulcrum between two units. Just like snakes use their miscle to control their bones and scales.

Pneumatic cylinders are lengthened and shortened by the air which is gathered by the air compressor. Using arduino mega, we can control the pneumatic cylinder which we want lengthen or shorten.

The machine learned from snakes not only can move by itself but also turns the linear shape into planar and stereoscopic shape. By elongating the x and y pneumatic cylinder, machine can control the coefficient of friction moving on rough surface. When the surface is smooth, the machine can elongate the z pneumatic cylinder so it can move well just like the snake living in desert.

The near-decade, GPI is decreasing. It means that the world is more dangerous than before. The machine Bared “Feet� can protect people from the attack and be a pavillion when people need. The space inside the machine can provide for hiding. The skeleton of machine can also be a temporary support of bulding or other space that will collapse. It will become a new city under the war.

Since when did our relationship become so distant and strange? In the past, people lived in the same hamlet are close. But the space bocome lacking bacause of the increasing of population. "Vertical hamlet" is a new living style that pepole can be closer in intensive city.

North side of Datong district is an edge city. Most of it is residential area. Not few of people lived there is poor. In the past, the population was sparse and lived discretely but closely. With the increase population, the area people can get was decreaing, vacancies were filled and the high apartments were

Courtyard, the vacancy in the middle of houses, is the extension of home space. Neiborhoods gather there and take part in activities. On both sides of the streets are low builings, people inside can still say hello to other on the street. But the space becomed short. Lots of high builings were built, as a result, people becomed strange. The concept is to creat a vertical hamlet. People can lived closely like before and have enogh space to live.

The growth of trees is the gift of water. It's the evidence that the time is here. The sun is shining, and the time is elapsing. What is left is the trace of time.

Trace of Time Tamsui Cultural Park was Former British Merchant Warehouse in the past. By the observation of sketch, I found lots of trace of time there, but monument wasn't the reason of it. The sunlight passed through the leaves and sprinkled on the ground. The water permeated into the bricks because of capillary, so the bricks get dark and even let the moss gather. The vegetation grew up and created lots of space by their leaves, branches, aerial roots and trunks. All of them is formed over a very long period of time. They are the trace of time. The pavilion I design is a steel frame with lots of chairs, and the program is a break fast shop. Every morning, people come here and take down the chairs to have breakfasts. There becomes more blanks on the frame, and the shadow of the pavilion change. The chairs are distributed more widely because of the increasing number of users.

Location: Qidong Street,Taipei,Taiwan Project: House+Gallery +Architecure Design +atmosphere of light

Qidong street is a old street. People used to transport the goods by this road, but now, only residents will be there. Different from grid plan of Taipei, Qidong street is a slanting line in the map just like a scotch. Contrast with noise Taipei, it's a quiet place that people can calm down there.

Inwardness of Light Light is a important element to the atmosphere of spaces. Fragmentary light can creat a quiet space, and integrated light cancreat a restlessness space. Direct light can creat a lively space, and inderect light can creat a stilly space.

By controling the light, I tried to creat a house that can let people feel quiet in the mind. The stair in the gallery let the light fragmentary. The light reflected by the water of the house let the space feel stilly and the refracted light borken by ripple can creat a lively space at the same time. fragmentary
