killdeer
I found a family of killdeer nesting between the beach and the campsites in the Grand Marais Rec Park. Their nests are just small areas scratched out from among the small stones. As soon as their feathers dry, the babies leave the nest. There are four babies squeezed under mom in this photo. It was starting to rain and they were looking for protection.—Paul Sundberg
