Rotary Club of Alfreton donate thousands to support local organisations

It has been a busy year for the Rotary Club of Alfreton, despite lockdown the club have been active, making donations to local charities, helping those hardest hit by the pandemic. Before coronavirus hit a special event was held, where many of the beneficiaries were able to attend and receive checks in person and explain how the money would be used. Donations totalling £3,000 were handed out on the evening to the following organisations: Gears of Goodwill, Medical Detection Dogs, Alfreton Junior Football Team, Alfreton Scouts, Riddings St James’ Church, Alfreton Army Cadets, Alfreton Cricket Club, Ironville & Codnor Park School, Glebe Junior School, Westhouses Primary School, Blackwell Primary School, Alfreton Town Council charity fund. The club has been unable to meet in person in recent months but have been having regualr video meetings and have been able to help out the local community by making a number of further donations to struggling organisations who are often helping those who have suffered most through the pandemic. Donations include: Fare Share Food Bank £250, Alfreton Food Bank £750, Eradication of Polio £135 & Alzheimers Society £500.
