This is the value of liberal

arts and sciences

6

AMBROSE UNIVERSITY

Why liberal arts and sciences? You have places to go and a world to contribute to. The liberal arts and sciences will get you there. In addition to building the academic foundation for your chosen career, you gain outstanding preparation for all careers. Most importantly, you have the ability to make a difference in the world. The world of work is changing rapidly. Many of today’s careers didn’t even exist decades ago. A liberal arts and sciences degree not only hones the knowledge and skills employers demand right now, it also gives you the foundation for emerging careers. Employers recognize the quick pace of change and seek out nimble, adaptable talents who can lead their organizations.

The very same abilities that your future employers seek are essential for life at Ambrose — navigating interactions with others, exploring what it means to be a caring, spiritual person, and becoming the engaged citizen who will improve the lives of others around you. You’ll be able to go farther, for the long term — and on many different career paths — when you can: • think critically and creatively • be a team player and effective collaborator • adapt to rapidly changing situations • analyze and interpret information • communicate well • strive for excellence

What a post-secondary education in the liberal arts offers is experience in critical thinking about messy, complicated concepts. It offers a platform for the generation and evolution of ideas, and a safe space to take risks and develop the kind of courage that defines our greatest innovators, entrepreneurs and world-changers.
