Southern Decadence To Present $18,931.08 to PFLAG/New Orleans & $6,600 to Belle Reve Nov. 7 Mark your calendars for a special Southern Decadence Presentation Show on Friday, Nov. 7, 8:30pm, at the Home of Southern Decadence: The Golden Lantern, 1239 Royal Street. Join Southern Decadence Grand Marshals XL Chad Boutte, Reba Douglas and Aubrey Synclaire as they present $18,931.08 to PFLAG/New Orleans, and Southern Decadence Grand Marshals XXXIX Tami Tarmac and Venus Santiago as they present $6,600.00 to Belle Reve. The 43rd Southern Decadence/2014 celebration raised a whopping $18,931.08 for PFLAG/New Orleans, the most raised for a charity in the history of Southern Decadence. Total revenues included $30,713.00 minus expenses of $11,781.92, leaving the balance to charity. Additionally, New Orleans Southern Decadence Inc. received a 2013 refund from the New Orleans Sanitation Department of $6,600.00 which when added to last year's $4,001.88 donation to 2013 charity Belle Reve brings the 2013 total to $10,601.88. The non-profit New Orleans Southern Decadence Inc. was formed in 2013 at the request of SDGMs XXXIX Tami Tarmac and Venus Santiago to ensure all funds raised going forward would be handled in a professional and credible manner. In two years, under the direction of Board of Directors James Garner, and Rip and Marsha Naquin-Delain, $29,532.96 has been raised for the grand marshals' chosen charities. 4th Winter Wonderland Nov. 30 benefits Food For Friends @ Café Istanbul Johnny Passion’s 4th Annual Winter Wonderland fundraiser benefiting Food For Friends is set for Sunday, Nov. 30 at Café Istanbul located at 2372 St. Claude Avenue in New Orleans. The Winter Wonderland is an annual event that is produced and directed by Misti Ates (Johnny Passion) along with her wife, Catherine Gaither. They consider this event their gift back to the New Orleans LGBT community. Each year they choose a charity to donate the proceeds (minus expenses) to from this event. NO/AIDS Task Force Food for Friends program is this year’s recipient. The VIP entrance will be set up as a movie premiere step and repeat complete with paparazzi, led by Hubert S. Monkeys. A photo booth has been donated by Show Time Rentals in Metairie to capture the memories of all who attend. Café Istanbul will be transformed into a beautiful Winter Wonderland. Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 and is catered by Chef Jerome Crosby. VIP guests will be entertained while they dine by pianist Ben Childress. Following Ben, Vanessa Carr and Derek Penton-Robicheaux of Esplanade Avenue will also entertain diners. Starting at 7pm the event will be opened for general admission and everyone will enjoy a concert with popular local band, AZ IF with lead vocalist Dana Lynn Dufrene. After the concert, there will be a presentation of the ICON Tribute Honor. This honor was created by Misti and Catherine to give recognition and thanks to the recipient for their many years of service to the LGBT community and will be presented as a surprise to the recipient. A*MED Ambulance, Inc. will be donating a vehicle in the memory of their family member, Donald Jaeger, to Food For Friends to help with their meal deliveries of those in need. A*MED has served the New Orleans area since 1996 and in addition to their donation they

The LGBT+ Archives Project of Louisiana is a new nonprofit which promotes and encourages the protection and preservation of materials chronicling the culture and history of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community in Louisiana. LGBT+APL supports its historical preservation mission through: EDUCATION on the crucial task of archiving LGBT cultural materials to ensure their availability for future generations; ASSISTANCE to potential donors through a descriptive directory of available archives appropriate for depositing those materials; ACCESS to available LGBT historical collections by publishing a comprehensive index of archived materials in institutions across Louisiana; and FUNDING to assist in the preservation of LGBT collections. 9th PhotoNOLA Dec. 4-7 The ninth annual PhotoNOLA takes place Dec.4 - 7 with a broad range of photography exhibitions on display throughout December.
