01

Elements At the beginning of the semester we started to explore the different types of joints that we could define and visually create. We led ourselves from our creativity as we combined the built joints. Continuing with combinations we expended our simple joints into big structures.

Externally | Folding Externally - Indication that something occurs on the outside Folding - Something that is able to bend into a more appropiate

Internally | Overlapping

LINEARLLY INTERSECTING

EXTERNALLY FOLDING

Internally - Reference to the inside Overlapping - Cover pat of the same area that is intended

Linearlly | Intersecting Linearlly - In a straight or nearly straight line Intersecting - Pass across something

Out of a list of words. You had to pair 2 in order to create 2D diagram drawings of possible joints 03

INTERNALLY OVERLAPPING

The 2D diagrams were translated in 3D 6x6 physical joint models 04

LINEARLLY INTERSECTING & EXTERNALLY FOLDING

I further more had to combine the developed word joints that we then had to make a complex joint. In rhino we had to show the model a whole and the disjointed.

CHOREOGRAPHY

MODEL VIEW 2 The next step was to choose one of the combined joints and make it out of carboard, wood and/or foam. 11

Then develop a choreography in which I will take the model apart while taking pictures of each part coming out. 12

3D SECTION VIEW

Then I had to choose 3 out of joints that highlighted the model.

13

Next I had to expand my joint in a 12had to as well make section and elevation of the joint to see the inside of it and how it looked around. I decided to incorporate the artic views of the joint to see all expanded 14

Enclosure As we move into the second part of the semester we began to work on enclosed spaces. As well as how the body moves within a space and the structure. We also began to understnd the flow.

The first step of the second part of the project was to make 2 or 3 body sequences to then make it go into the structure.

RESTING RITUAL

The space above show in the pictures is a working space in which the person is shown usingthe space as a palce to sit and work. The space below is just a space used for sitting

WORKING RITUAL

The space above is a mix of laying in a space and also providing extra space to allow people to sit. SITTING RITUAL

RITUAL HIGHLIGHT Next was to expand the structurre more and accomodate the structure to how I will believe it will be best to fit the person. Then we had to lebel where the spaces wil be located.

23

Next was to make clipping sections of the structure to give more of a clear view on the inside about where the persons space will fit in.

AUTUMN

SOUTH We could understand how the light will work and move t different times of the day. This helped me decide that I wanted to make my working space in the top to give more lgith to that space. The resting space will go in the bottom to give it less light.

I added shadows to the structure to sows how to sun shines on the strcture and help us indicte which spaces I want that have more/less light. 25

Passage We move into the final part of the semester where we begin to learn about surfaces and stairs. We see how these allow for more circulation within the structure and how we beging to move part and modify them into giving each space a purpose.

STAIR HIGHLIGHT

STAIR DIAGRAM Moving foward I had to develop a series of stairs each with a different design and see where they will go in the structure and where each will lead to. I also had to develop thresholds for the stairs or certain spaces in the building.

THRESHOLD, SURFACE, AND STAIRS

In the drawing above I decided to take out the surfaces, thresholds and stairs to point out where they are located in the structure and show how many they are. Also I decide to make elevation drawing and clippings to shows the structure more in detail.

Next I made the floor plan of each floor and how each floor looks. I also did clipping cuts to the model to show the inside of the floors. As well I decided to add texture to the walla and floors to the spaces in the building, and people to shows how big or small the spaces are.
