ifi Queen’s story is as colorful as the summer dresses for sale in her boutique. She is a self-taught pianist, a graduate of the Barbizon School of Modeling, and she was once ranked the 6th best female amateur golfer in North Florida by the North Florida Golf Journal. It’s no surprise she’s been included in Who’s Who Among Young People in America and in Who’s Who in Business America. Fifi was just recently awarded another Who’s Who in America for 2021-2022! “I was born in the small town of Waynesville, North Carolina. The oldest of five children, I was my mother’s helper and worked hard to help raise my younger siblings. There wasn’t extra money to buy the clothes I longed for in the fashion magazines, but it didn’t stop me from window shopping,” says Fifi. She first came to Amelia Island as a piano bar entertainer at the Admiral’s Lounge on Amelia Island Plantation, but her love of fashion inspired her to open her first Fifi’s Fine Resale Apparel Boutique in Jacksonville in 1986. In 1992, she opened Fifi’s on Amelia Island. “The Island has a strong sense of community with a real down-home feel. It lures you back time and time again.” You’ll find a large selection of name brands such as Lilly, Chico, J McLaughlin, Eileen Fisher, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Coco Chanel at pocket-friendly prices. You can stop by Fifi’s Fine Resale Apparel’s Amelia Island location at 4802 First Coast Highway, call (904) 310-3773, or visit their website at fifisfineresale.com.
laine and Dave Lynch of Outer Banks Boil Company of Amelia Island have been visiting Amelia Island’s golf courses for years, but last year they made the island their permanent home. “As the pandemic continued into 2021, we thought that since we both work from home, why not move to an area that we really love,” says Elaine. “We wanted to do more than just move to a new place; we wanted to involve ourselves in the community. The best way to do that was to open a business, hire from the community, and contribute to the local economy.” “We enjoyed the hiring process for our new General Manager and meeting the candidates who applied. We recently announced the hiring of Shannon Mayhan. She’ll be playing a vital role in our operation, and she comes with many years of experience here in the community both in hospitality/ restaurant management and catering operations. Although our doors are not open quite yet, Shannon is busy designing and preparing the day-to-day operations and opening day!” When Elaine and Dave aren’t busy getting ready for the opening of Outer Banks Boil Company, they love to spend time outdoors. “We also love taking our dog, Clancy, to the beach. He is a complete beach bum! If he had his way, he would be renting surfboards and beach umbrellas, and playing hacky sack behind Sliders!” For more information, call (904) 6012272 or visit www.ameliaisland.outerbanksboilcompany.com to see all the great catering options they offer. They are located at 820 Sadler Road.
