Lori Bille has been the manager of Scott & Sons Fine Jewelry since October 2012. Originally from northern Virginia, she and her husband moved to Amelia Island in 1991. “My husband’s family has owned property here since the 1950s,” says Lori. “We live north of Atlantic Avenue and we love that we can either walk to the beach, walk downtown, or just meander through our neighborhood.”
She says what she loves most about working at Scott & Sons Fine Jewelry are the customers, the staff, and the fact that she learns something new every day. “The most satisfying part of the job for me is helping a customer design a piece of custom jewelry or helping someone pick out a fabulous piece of jewelry for a special occasion.” Scott & Sons Fine Jewelry has some of the finest jewelry in the area, as well as jewelry repair and custom jewelry. They strive to be the best jewelry store in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia by providing quality merchandise in a refined yet family-friendly atmosphere with honest personal service. Their goal is to make customers feel like a part of their family.
When Lori isn’t working, she likes to visit local resale stores, antiques stores, and support local restaurants. Her favorites? “Wicked Bao, Carolyn’s, Coastal Pizza, Moon River —too many favorites to mention!” Scott & Sons Fine Jewelry is located at 9900 Amelia Island Parkway at the corner of State Road 200 and Amelia Island Parkway. Gateway Mortgage
Paul Moerman, manager of Gateway Mortgage, has been with the Fernandina Beach branch since its opening in November 2017. He is originally from St. Simons Island, Georgia, but he moved to Atlanta and then North Carolina before traveling to the Northeast and Tennessee for work. One summer on a visit home to St. Simons, Paul met his spouse. Both of their families had vacation homes in Fernandina Beach, and of course, they loved coming to Amelia Island. Eventually, they bought their first home here from Paul’s grandfather in 2009.
“I love driving over the bridge and feeling like I’m home. So many outdoor activities and special events are at our doorstep, as well as the great shops and restaurants on Centre Street and the beautiful waterfront,” says Paul. “We’re big fans of First Love Brewery, Pajama Dave’s, and Café Karibo. Steak night at the Plantation is another favorite. And I can’t forget DeNucci’s and Villa Villekulla Toys—we have two girls! We always try to support all local businesses.”
The team at Gateway Mortgage is here to help you. They weave the knowledge and expertise of our local mortgage professionals together with state-of-the-art technology and the powerful resources of a national company to make your home buying experience easy, reliable, and fast. “What I love most about my job is helping to build the community one family at a time through home ownership, especially first-time homeowners and folks moving here to retire,” says Paul.
