Big Changes at Headquarters 2011 has started with a bang at ABBI Headquarters. By now, most people know that there have been changes in positions and leadership. But what does all this mean, really? It means that American Bucking Bull is growing. Growing bigger, growing better, and growing up. Already, ABBI has new employees, m ore
positions, added events, and increasing numbers of fans. This new year has brought a chance for ABBI to take a good hard look existing policies and procedures. The policies are good, but procedure can always be improved. Changes have been made in an effort to work smarter, not harder. These changes will be outlined throughout the newsletter for your benefit. Because, like Brad Boyd says, ―What‘s good for our members is good for us.‖ It also means that ABBI can use your help. We want to be sure our breeders understand these new

There’s a new system in town—EID Tag Update This year marks the beginning of a new process for electronic ID tags. The new regulations affect 2010 born animals and will help keep costs low for our breeders. Instead of having a veterinarian place every ear tag, you can now place them yourself. Here are some key facts about the new system to keep in mind.
The process currently in place for bulls born in 2009 and earlier will remain the same Breeders will purchase EID tags directly from ABBI EID Tags will have each animal‘s brand number on the tag
2010 bulls that are currently registered will have a grace period through July 2011 to order tags
New cost of EID Tag = $15.00 + s&h
New cost of Re-Tags = $40.00 + s&h
EID tags requested from the ABBI office at the time of birth year registration (or within grace period) will not need to be
Find EID Order Form at www.abbinow.com
Re-tags will require tail hair for animal verification
After grace period, 2010 bulls that did not order an EID tag when registered in birth-year must be age verified by a certified veterinarian
Bulls submitted for age certification must be mouthed between 18 and 34 months of age

Teddy Bear, The Story of a Bucking Bull Teddy Bear is a little bull that has stolen our hearts. “When we started Born into a talking to other people competition in our rodeo community family, he is determined they all said the same to become a thing. Their kids were champion bucking not interested in the bull, just like usual books about zoo his dad. animals and dinosaurs.” But Teddy Bear has to -Shelly Schellenberg overcome his soft
sounding name in order to be taken seriously. Dwayne and Shelly Schellenberg are ABBI members from Alberta, Canada. Their family has been in the rodeo business since the early 1980‘s. It didn‘t take the Schellenberg‘s long to realize the industry was lacking in children‘s books. Says Shelly, ―Dwayne came up with the idea to write our own rodeo children's books. Working at a small coun-
try school I also found that there were not many books out there for farm kids interested in rodeo. Not many "boy books" for kids who would rather be at home working on the farm or at a bull riding.‖ The vibrant story is illustrated by Ash Cooper, better known as Crash Cooper in the rodeo circuit. Ash is the host of Cowboy Country and has earned CPRA

This children's‘ book is fun for the whole family, and when everyone at Headquarters had to have one, we wanted our members to have the chance to love Teddy Bear too.
Winstar American Heritage in Ardmore The Winstar American Heritage event in Ardmore, Oklahoma has always been near and dear to the USBBA. Maybe because it is the single largest event of the season; or because it benefits a non-profit organization; or simply because we like seeing so many of our favorite bulls in one place. Whatever the reason, we look forward to

June. The Futurity event consistently boasts over 150 entries each year. Even now, there are over 175 active bulls for 2011 Futurity pool. Last year‘s winner, 849 Messy Mossy of the Torres Brothers, took home over $100,000. Another reason we love the Winstar American Heritage is because our Junior Breeders have a
chance to flank their bulls. Twelve year old Tyler Terrell won over $5,000 with Terrell 834 in 2010. This year‘s Derby Event has already gone through some changes. It will be part of the PBR Touring Pro Division. T his wi ll benefit all involved because it includes added money
of $10,000 for riders and $5,000 for bulls. There‘s something for everyone in Ardmore, and with all this action the Hardy Murphy Coliseum Winners of will be dizzy once 2010 Derby we‘re through.

New Employee: Rebecca Flores ABBI welcomed Rebecca to the team in February as our new office assistant. Rebecca will be here to answer phones, process mail, and fulfill blood kit and EID tag orders from members and vets. She can also answer general registration or membership questions, and process new and renewal memberships. Says Rebecca: I am excited to be working here because bull riding is one of my favorite sports. I really enjoy the people that I work with – each has been extremely nice and helpful. When I‘m not at work, I love spending time with my three children Dylan 9, Jace 8, and Peyton 16 months. I love being outdoors – camping, fishing, water sports. Rebecca can be reached at rebecca@abbinow.com

Reader Poll: How do you name your bull? There‘s no denying it—bulls these days have some pretty strange names. And while ABBI stands behind its members and let‘s them name an animal almost whatever they want, we often wonder, ―Where did THAT come from?‖ So, we asked. Here‘s what our facebook readers had to say when we asked how they choose a name for their bull. “Bloodlines, his attitude, the way he looks, and how he bucks, if he doesn't buck he doesn't get a name! “ -Dustin Kruger
“Our whole family discusses bull names on our way to rodeos or sales they range from town names random road signs peoples nicknames their attitudes bloodlines we've even got some named after gas stations .” -Lex Russell
“Since our gkids match calves to bull riders maybe this year it can be Been Jonesing????” -Donna Baker “First name of my favorite movie character, followed by my favorite food. ‘rooster bacon’.” -Zach Page © Allen Glanville
