DAY 1 Motorcoach departure from Chicago area. Lunch at Fried Green Tomatoes, Galena, Illinois. Explore the charms of historic Galena. Visit the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium in Dubuque, Iowa. Get acquainted with America’s major river that has contributed to our nation’s colorful history, legend and lore. Arrive at the Hampton Inn, Dubuque, Iowa. Dinner. DAY 2 Experience the magic of the Mississippi on a 100-mile river cruise aboard the Celebration Belle. Cruise from Dubuque to Moline while enjoying a breakfast, lunch, & prime rib dinner as well as narration by the captain, live entertainment, activities, travel through three locks & dams and views of wildlife and majestic bluffs. Arrive at the Radisson on John Deere Commons in Moline, IL located on the Mississippi River. DAY 3 Breakfast. Guided tour to discover the rich history of the Bishop Hill Colony as a “prairie utopia” established by industrious Swedish immigrants. This prosperous colony built 18 handmade brick buildings, farmed extensively and exported fine products. Swedish lunch at the PL Johnson, Bishop Hill. Explore the heritage shops featuring Swedish foods, handmade gifts, country crafts, quilts and more.
