Century Club Inductees

Congratulations to Ray Mansur and his 28 year old gelding, Manfred (5245-93) for his induction into the American Driving Society’s Centennial Club. The Centennial Club is modeled after The Dressage Foundation Century Club which is awarded for ridden dressage. The criteria for this award is that the driver must be a member of the American Driving Society (ADS), the combined age of the driver and equine must total 100 years or more, and the driven dressage test of the driver’s choice Haflinger Horse Bits | September 2021

must be performed for and scored by an American Driving Society licensed judge. Ray and Manfred accomplished this on August 16, 2021 at a schooling event sponsored by the Aiken Driving Club. The award ribbon was presented to Ray, who is the first male ADS member to be recognized for this accomplishment, by ADS President, Dan Rosenthal. Also pictured is the dressage judge, Muffy Seaton.

June 16, 2021 Board of Directors Meeting All Board members present except Chuck Hendershot.

Discussion of virtual inspections was held per a member request. By consensus AHR is not in a position to offer virtual inspection at this time. Adding an inspection option to the National Showcase weekend was discussed if there is enough interest. Despite low participation numbers at this point, the Board agreed that the National Showcase will go on. Classes may be cancelled due to lack of entries. The schedule may be altered to ensure exhibitors would have time between classes for tack changes as necessary. A two-year old Futurity driving class was inadvertently omitted from the schedule. It will be added. Based on the number of entries, it may be split pleasure and draft. Bio questions with a brief article will be in the next newsletter. There are five seats (i.e., Eastern region, East Central region, and three at large seats. Page 5

Meetings, Minutes & Miscellaneous Request from Robert Eicher: He would like $200 to co-sponsor a Haflinger booth at Horse Progress Days with the Haflinger Breeders Co-Op and OHA. Dave moved approval. Erwin seconded. Motion carried seven to one. Missy will share with Robert and offer brochures.

July 28, 2021 Board of Directors Meeting All Board members present except Chuck Hendershot with advance notice. The AHR logo is taken care of through February, 2026. A lengthy discussion regarding entries and how to best host a show with minimal interest was held. The consensus is that the show will happen for those entered. Many classes will be cancelled and potentially a judge may not be needed. The entry deadline will be extended to August 13. One bio has been received to date for an At-Large seat.
