MEDIA RELATIONS ASSOCIATE (Unpaid Internship) National Civilian Community Corps -ATLANTIC REGION POSITION SUMMARY: The Media Relations Associate works on media and public relations related projects for the National Civilian Community Corps campus in Perry Point, MD. The Media Relations Associate will report to the Community Relations Specialist (CRS) with additional support from the Community Relations Support Team Leader.
MEDIA RELATED DUTIES Write and edit media materials Distribute press releases Prepare and send follow up communications Assist with the production of various newsletters Draft and prepare social media content Compile data for media and marketing reports Create and prepare standard press kits Obtain and store copies of newspaper clippings and other printed media Research, develop and maintain media lists Monitor news for NCCC Atlantic Region related stories Monitor and organize the photo libraries Attend events and projects to gather photos and stories Assist in developing communication strategies Other communications-related administrative tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS: This internship is open to college students. College students studying communications, visual or graphic design, marketing or public relations are encouraged to apply. Other: Must have a current driver's license and be at least 18 years of age, a US citizen, US National, or lawful permanent resident. Skills and Knowledge: Excellent written and verbal skills, an ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Experience with media or marketing through previous job or internship a plus. Experience with computer software: Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher and Abode preferred. Familiarity with Google applications is necessary.

COMPENSATION: This is an unpaid internship with great opportunities for professional development and hands-on experience at a government agency. This internship should appeal to those with an interest in marketing, design, communications, volunteerism and service. Exceptional interns can obtain letters of recommendation upon completion of internship.
PROVISIONS: The intern will have a designated workspace with access to office equipment and supplies such as a computer, phone, fax, etc. The intern will be set up with a generic email account for internal and external communications.

TIME FRAME: Start date is open to begin as soon as possible. Total duration not to exceed 4 consecutive months total. Up to 20 hours per week. Monday – 12PM – 4:30PM, Wednesday 12PM – 4:30 PM, Friday – 12PM – 4:30PM
