How did you hear about AmeriCorps NCCC? While participating in an Alternative Spring Break service project at D.C. Central Kitchen, I heard about AmeriCorps from VISTA members. I then researched NCCC and it seemed like the right fit.
Why did you want to be a Team Leader? I have always been a believer in servant leadership; the idea that, as a leader, your main role is to empower others to develop their skills and grow as an individuals in the process. Being an NCCC Team Leader embodies the concept of servant leadership and allows me to play a critical role in the development of my team members. My role also allows me the privilege of seeing how service, friendship, and leadership can inspire young adults to succeed.
What do you like most about AmeriCorps NCCC so far? I personally enjoy the development process that the team goes through and genuinely appreciate the way in which service can unite a group of diverse individuals to achieve goals and make a difference.
Why is AmeriCorps NCCC ideal for APO members? At a base level, APO and NCCC connect. Leadership, friendship and service are the aspects of APO. APO members can find these three aspects in NCCC. Both organizations also have a commitment to diversity.
What do you plan to do after serving with AmeriCorps NCCC? I am planning on pursuing my Master's Degree in Student Affairs and Higher Education Administration.
