Electric Grounding of Fence Systems

Electric Grounding of Fence Systems

AMICO Security typically does not provide the grounding of our fence systems. End users such as electric utilities most often provide their own grounding systems following their own company specifications and local codes. AMICO Security fence systems are compatible with commonly available grounding systems such as mechanical connectors or clamping connectors (examples shown in top three pictures are available at www.hubbell.com/burndy/en ).

Grounding of Powder Coated Fence Systems

AMICO Security’s powder coated fence systems are designed to comply with IEEE grounding requirements. Every part of the fence system from fencing infill, rails, cover plates to posts are electrically connected which means the fence system is inherently grounded by design. Only grounding lugs at the posts are required to connect the fence system to the grounding grid. To attach grounding lugs to powder coated posts, AMICO Security recommends using Zinc Plated Grounding bolts (example shown in bottom picture available from McMaster-Carr www.mcmaster.com ).

Grounding of AMIGUARD 8000 Series gates

AMICO Security’s gates are designed to work with any gate grounding kit specified and supplied by the end user. However, upon request we are able to supply gate groundings kit as an optional accessory.
