For centuries, fine furniture enthusiasts have known that the best desks, cabinets and hutches perfectly combine utility with beauty.
Pieces designed for reading, writing and organizing papers have long been made to fulfill those dual requirements.
In comparatively recent times, the advent of television and computers has created a need for entertainment furniture, which also must be both functional and beautiful.
It is in this tradition of blending form with function that we at Dutchcreek create our entire product line, from home office pieces for working to home entertainment units for relaxing. And while we design furniture of classic beauty, we also keep a keen eye on changing consumer needs and tastes, to add the best in exciting new looks at the right time.
It all began in 2002, when Dutchcreek was established by James and Linda Weaver. A master craftsman with 27 years experience, James had a passion for creating and
building original designs, and a desire to create jobs for his family and members of his local community.
For the next eight years the company grew. So much so, that in 2010, Dutchcreek erected a brand new structure with four times the room. Today, in this spacious work area, we focus on only one thing: designing and building the very best furniture we can. The second generation of the Weaver family works sideby-side with like-minded craftsmen from our local community to maintain our tradition of excellence.
Located in the gorgeous rolling hills of Wayne County, Ohio, Dutchcreek is surrounded by the idyllic natural beauty of fertile farms and oxygen-producing woodlands—a forest that has increased in size by some 3,000 trees in the last five years. The company planted the new trees as part of our ongoing reforestation efforts. That’s because we believe in giving back to the environment what we're taking from it. Respect for nature is part of our nature. It's just how we look at things.
Great furniture starts with great wood. There's simply no substitute. We use only the finest quality North American hardwoods. No particleboard or MDF will see the inside of our manufacturing plant.
We select the best oak, cherry, brown maple, hickory, walnut, and tiger maple. We accept only wood that's free of knots, with the grain pattern expected of each variety. And our wood comes only from trees that grew straight, strong, and healthy.
But the best wood is of no use in the wrong hands. So we hire only the finest craftsmen. Then we individually train each one in the Dutchcreek method. The result is fine furniture you'll be thrilled to own—and to pass down from generation to generation.
So what makes up the Dutchcreek method of manufacturing?
Solid construction. In every piece, we use the best connection technique for the purpose—drawers are sturdy and durable due to dovetail joints, for example. Other types of time-proven joints include mortise and tenon, tongue and groove, and mitered.
Taking our time. We never rush. Slapping
furniture together isn't compatible with creating heirlooms.
Sanding, sanding, sanding. Our special three-step sanding process ensures the silkiest, smoothest surface possible for applying stain.
Hand-rubbed finishing. When it's time to apply stain, it's all done by hand to ensure the even coat that only a master craftsman can achieve. We use a pre-catalyzed varnish to make a surface that's lustrous and tough, resisting any damage from water spills.
Meticulous inspection. When a piece is finished, it's not necessarily ready to go out the door. First it must pass a rigorous up-close inspection for any imperfections in the wood or the finish, and to make sure the hardware works flawlessly. If the slightest defect is found, the piece goes back for fixing and is then put through the entire inspection process again.
The final result is a perfectly crafted piece of furniture that will last for generations. And one that's unique, due to the natural variations in real wood. Your piece will be like none other on earth.
At Dutchcreek, we know you want choices in stain colors. So we provide a nearly endless range. You can choose from any FinishWorks, Woodwright, or OCS stain. Shown here is an example of Dutch Tavern stain with standard light distressing. Note: Due to the nature of the printing process, as well as variations in natural wood tones, colors shown may vary from those pictured. Below is a sampling of the most commonly used stains.
Of course all our furniture comes in standard sizes and configurations. But those might not suit your exact needs. So we're happy to modify overall dimensions to fit your space, or re-arrange shelving, doors, or drawers to accommodate TVs, computer monitors, or printers. We'll work closely with you to make sure the customization produces exactly what you want. And we’ll help, too, by thinking carefully about how your requests will affect appearance, so that changing the design doesn't downgrade the beauty of the piece. If we see that it will, we'll make suggestions about how to accomplish what you want while still creating furniture with the beauty of proper proportions.

If you're looking for timeless beauty that defies trends, look to the clean lines and lustrous finishes of the Buckingham Series. The fluted corner posts are classic design elements used by ancient Greek artisans, who may have been inspired by the look of natural tree trunks.
''When love and skill work together, expect a materpiece.'' -John Ruskin
Pure, simple elegance finds its expression in the Homestead Series. Unadorned corners, straight lines, and inset panels all serve to showcase the rich cherry wood with its naturally contrasting grain. Cherry has always been prized for strength and beauty. ''Fine
art is that in which the hand, the head, and the heart of man go together.''
-John Ruskin
Every Dutch Creek style has unique design touches that raise it far above ordinary furniture. In the Lexington Series they are found in the vertical braided columns at each corner post, repeated on a much smaller scale in the base molding.

Is it a stretch to be reminded of skyscrapers in the corner posts of this furniture, leading to this collection's name? Perhaps. But there's no denying that this sturdy and timeless style would feel right at home in the City That Never Sleeps. Or wherever the height of beauty is desired.
This collection bearing the name of our sixteenth president rests on sturdy feet, rises with authority using grooved columns, then tops off with highly ornamented crown molding. It combines an air of dignity with the grace and elegance so prevalent in the mid-19th century.
''Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.'' -Edgar Degas
Classically-inspired corner columns, similar to the ones prominent at Monticello, make this series aptly named. We hope our third president would be pleased with the symmetry and attention to detail, along with the two-tone finish reminiscent of the famous mansion he designed.
The Jefferson Premier Series features the same stunning style as the Jefferson Series, but on a larger, grander, scale. Choose either collection, depending on the size of your room and your personal preference. Both are a stately reminder of our founding father's extraordinary talent.
Using metal accents to wrap a sturdy and robust framework, the Georgetown series takes a classic approach to desk sets.
With sliding door panels and optional wire brushed oak and a luxurious chocolate brown top, this set communicates personality in bold but simple language.

We design our collections to touch people at the deepest level. Then we craft them to last for generations—to be handed down again and again, changeless in a changing world. Because we believe that if a piece does not endure, then we have fallen short of the standards of true master craftsmen.
At Dutch Creek we have decided to create furniture that not only endures, but furniture that can truly be called art. And so we put our minds, our hearts and our hands into everything we do. As Leonardo Da Vinci so eloquently put it more than five centuries ago, “Where the spirit does not work with the hand, there is no art.”
