A

rchitecture is my passion and what can be better then your passion being your

profession. The best part of this field is that there is nothing like worst or best, you keep creating. In professional life, an architectural layout is a collaborative effort of views and perspectives, which I take as an advantage to learn and explore. My dream is not to design the best structure on earth but to design best spaces for every Individual.

ABU DHABI

ERGONOMICS FOR CCR LAYOUT: The overall layout is designed considering the viewing angle possible from an lvs system and the cone of vision of human eye.

Project Client Responsibility Duration

:Central Control Room for traffic control at Abu Dhabi :Parsons :Design Concept, Architectural drawings, Presentation, Team leader :2012-13

Control Room oom View

An optimal angle for proper viewing on an lcd based display system is 40 from the normal to the screen.

Optimum Viewing angle in plan for proposed CCR

Viewing angle of LCD screen (Horizontal and Vertical) The Control Room Ergonomic Review helps companies create the right control room environment by examining and reporting on the factors that affect the performance of the operations team.

The importance of the control room operations team can never be over emphasized. this team needs to be alert, informed, supported and motivated at all times if dangerous, costly and reputation-damaging situations are to be avoided.

ACOUSTICS

-CCR is a sort of dead zone in acoustical terms where threshold is lower than the normal -its all about psycho acoustics and not just acoustics -no-t just maintaining db levels – its tuning the space -isolation to ensure 65db inside the control room -masking noise/anti phase noise solutions to ensure privacy to units -its not the materials which define acoustics, its the detailing which ensures controlled reverberations & resonances and reflections

•In case of emergency, there is sufficient space behind the Consoles for the movement of people and maintenance access of equipments located inside the Consoles. The entire working environment, both physical and professional, needs to be scrutinized. Every organization in the process industry needs to pay full attention to the human element, especially in control room functions.

•The centrally located revolving unit allows the shift in-charge to view the LCD SCREENS AT 360

Optimum Viewing angle OF Human eye

•The use of LCD screens within the console is within the zone of comfortable spin of the eyes, i.e. 30° starting from the direct horizontal vision of the eye to the bottom of the monitor. •The locations of the LCD screens are such that they do not require any movement of the head on the vertical axis thus resulting in no fatigue to the operator.

CONTROL ROOM

THE CCR GALLERIA : The close observation of the “Drawing Room” of the power plant in the form of a “CCR Art Gallery” is a unique concept for a visitor to experience the functionality of the plant. The CCR Galleria is a showcase of plant information, which educates a visitor using sources like models, posters and digital screens. To break the monotonous environmental image of a control room, the use of “Earthen Material” like natural stone and plants have been introduced in the CCR. On the other hand, the lattice creates a soothing effect in the CCR by destroying the mass with its minor transparency. In whole, the design comprises ergonomics with sense of aesthetics and bringing in the natural environment to create a comfort and healthy zone for all the operators.

Hence delivering from house to entertainment facilities at one roof of island, yet making it full of life at a place so far, created through the command of planning organising each part of land connected towards a epicentre and no boundaries inside the field, so giving a living place to rely on.

Life in nature and Urban spheres emerge at intersections. Man is a social animal and life concentrates to interact at these intersections. Biological hotspots (where most of the species are found), also evolve at intersections of two ecosystems. Chabutras, Chowks developed in the vernacular India have been the preferred place to have informal conversations in the community.

Initiative towards Educating and Learning:

Workshop 1

-

TUNING THE SPACE: A full day playful workshop on Control Room Design for 40 executives/engineers/architects of Tata power in Mumbai, not just design but insights into aspects of life were also discussed. It was all about tuning the space- the physical space what we design and the spiritual space what we actually are. The main theme was to have a synchronisation of different disciplines and designing from user and promoter's perspective, getting into the shoes of the stake holders of design and the delivering.

Being an Architect, not only entitles me to be responsible for creating suitable environment and spaces but also makes me realize some duties beyond that. A team of three Architects- Ar Sunil Ladha (Chief Architect), Ar. Neeru Pandey (Assistant Architect) and Myself Ar Amit Gaurav (Associate Architect), took an initiative to share our knowledge with the mass by conducting series of workshops. Conducting workshops is one of the source that has provided me with a platform, where I can interact with people from different fields and make them experience to go through a very different journey that they have never been through. It is programmed to touch people’s lives and heart unconditionally but yet it does with grasp.

Workshop 2

-

ASAP: An initiative to change the mindset of teachers at school levels, hereby contributing to the change in the next generation citizens of my country. ASAP simply means “As Soon As Possible“, know it and has to be done now is what is important. 50 teachers of seedling school participated in a 3 hr workshop.

Workshop 3

-

IN-SYNC: This was a 3 hr workshop for architects and civil engineers of Udaipur city. Mainly aiming towards creating a professional harmony and creation of a knowledge sharing platform, the workshop did trigger a balance of eccentricity in design and reference to context thereby creating spaces which gel with what we have rather than standing out and making a statement. The message conveyed and discussed was to flow with the surroundings rather than opposing or making a strong presence 40 consultants made it.

Testimonials The ever smiling Amit has been full of enthusiasm and passion. When it comes to professional attitude and dedication towards work he has been a major benefactor in redefining control rooms across the country and abroad. Other than architectural and interior design, an eccentric approach towards conceptualization and execution of three workshops has been commendable. Its been pleasure working with him Good luck Amit Be what you are forever An asset for people you work with and work for.

-Ar. Sunil S. Ladha (Principal Architect at Pyrotech Workspace Design Studio)

Amit completely believes in experiencing and exploring something new on everyday basis. He is a motivating leader and inspires other team members to do the same. He is a perfectionist when it comes to portraying his designs and detailing in 3D. This Positive and optimistic boy will be a shear loss to our team. We will miss you. Wish you all the best. -Kamal Puri (3D Simulator Head Pyrotech Workspace Design Studio)

A grant of forerunner of team , Amit have always been very fervent on new ideas and intense on implementing for project or office management. As he planned and organized for project so has always for office and precipitous projects with overwhelming requirements respectively. As he has been jewel as a designer, he was a spearhead whilst great companion in office, spreading a wide blissful act around. -Ar. Neeru Pandey (Assistant Architect Pyrotech Workspace Design Studio)
