MUHARRAM 1437 – RABIUL AWWAL 1437 (NOVEMBER 2016 – JANUARY 2017)

Short Stories of the Prophets of Almighty Allah Hazrat Musa

Hazrat Musa and the old women.

Before the Bani Israel could cross the river, Hazrat Musa noticed that the animals they were using as transport began turning in retreat. So, he turned to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, asking, “O Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, what’s happening?” Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala replied, “You are near the qabr of Hazrat Yusuf . Take his body with you across the river.” Having not been to the qabr (grave/tomb) before, Hazrat Musa turned to the Bani Israel and asked them, “Does anyone know where the qabr of Hazrat Yusuf is?” An old woman replied, “Yes. I do.” “Where is it then?” “By Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala! I won’t tell you until you grant me what I wish.” “Then ask. What do you want?” “O Musa , I wish to be in Jannah, on the same level as you.” Hazrat Musa replied, “Ask for Jannah alone. That’s enough. Don’t request something so great.” The woman persisted, “By Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala! My request is only that I be with you!” When Hazrat Musa again tried to convince her otherwise, Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala resolved the disagreement by saying, “O Musa! Grant her what she requests. It is of no loss to you.”

to know then, that even Jannah is within the authority of the Prophets, and that they can give it to or forsake it from whoever they wish. How can people say then that the Greatest Prophet had no control over anything?!

The End Of Pharaoh

Hazrat Musa became extremely despondent over the ways of Firaun and his followers and finally turned to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala saying, “O Rubb! Destroy their wealth and stiffen their hearts so that they will not accept you until they witness a severe punishment.” In response, Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala ordered His prophet to leave the city at night with the entire Bani Israel. When the women were informed of the evacuation, they approached their Egyptian friends and took back the jewelry they’d loaned them, saying that they wished to use it in a fair they were soon attending. Finally, at nightfall, all of the men, women and children of the Bani Israel proceeded with Hazrat Musa out of the kingdom of Firaun in a procession that numbered 600,000 individuals. News of their departure reached the king soon afterwards, and before dawn, he too amassed an army roughly twice the size of the Bani Israel and departed to apprehend his foster-son and followers. The army reached them by morning. When the Bani Israel saw the forces behind them, coupled with a river blocking their path in front, they turned to Hazrat Musa in desperation.

In reply, the prophet struck the river with his staff and caused it to burst open, forming twelve paths before them that would allow the Bani Israel to So, Hazrat Musa assured the woman that she would proceed right to the other side! be his companion in Jannah, and in reply, the woman showed him where the qabr of Hazrat Yusuf was. The group quickly crossed the river as the water The prophet’s blessed body was then taken across the stood motionless beside them. When Firaun’s army river by the massive procession. arrived, they too attempted to cross it. This time, however, the water-walls broke away, and the men – Tibraani Sharif, al-Amn wal-Ulaa, Pg. 229 (along with Firaun himself) were immediately overcome and killed by the power of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala.

The ‘reward’ of disobedience to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala is only destruction, and this is sometimes reflected even in this world.

Lesson

To worship idols and to seek their assistance is the way of non-Muslims. This is unlike asking for help from the Prophets and Friends of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, since they have proven on many occasions that they are able to assist us.

When Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala talks about it being impermissible seeking help from anyone ‘besides Him’ in the Holy Qur’an, He is referring to idols, not the Prophets and Saints (Hadrat Ibrahim would Hadrat Ibrahim was born during the reign of Namrūd (i.e. Nimrod of Babylon) amidst a prevalence have never cursed them if they were included in its meaning). of idol-worship. He once asked the worshippers,

The Axe Of Ibrahim

“What do you people hope to gain by prostrating to these statues? They’re not deserving of your worship – only Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala is.” They replied, “We do what our ancestors did. Does someone as young as you think he knows better?!” Hadrat Ibrahim answered, “Your ancestors were astray! Your Lord and the Lord of the Earth is only Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, the Creator of everything. I take an oath on Him to deal with these idols of yours.” Nevertheless, the worshippers refused to listen to him and one day headed out to a fair held annually away from their homes. While they were gone, Hadrat Ibrahim entered the temple and smashed every idol except the largest, whose shoulder he hung his axe upon (intending to show the helplessness of these objects.)

After some time, the people arrived and were shocked to see the outrageous condition of their statues. Even Namrūd and his ministers were informed of it, and after an official investigation was carried out, some people suggested that Hadrat Ibrahim may have been the culprit, since he was always known to have spoken out against idol-worship. So, Hadrat Ibrahim was summoned and questioned about what had happened. He answered, “Ask the big idol who it was. After all, it is his purpose to be the judge in such matters.” The people responded, “But he can’t speak!” Hadrat Ibrahim then angrily said, “Then if even you know it doesn’t speak, I curse both you and those you worship!”

MUHARRAM 1437 – RABIUL AWWAL 1437 (NOVEMBER 2016 – JANUARY 2017)

Hazrat Ayub

Nabi Ayub Alaihis Salaam’s patience Hadrat Ayub (Alaihis Salaam) was granted great favours by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala (to the extent that even his children were extremely wealthy). Once, when he was told that his sons passed away after the roof of their house collapsed, and that all that belonged to him (including his farms, gardens and thousands of livestock) were now no more, he still uttered not a single word in anger or regret, but instead praised Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala and said, “All of that wasn’t mine in the first place. Rather, it was the One Who owned them that decided He wanted them back. I could’ve never shown enough gratitude for everything I had anyway, and even though it’s all gone, I’m still pleased with the desires of my Lord.” The prophet then underwent severe pain after his body became entirely covered with blisters, and except for his wife (who continued to serve and assist him), noone else wanted to have anything to do with him. After showing great patience throughout all of it, Hadrat Ayub (Alaihis Salaam) finally made dua to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, and Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala immediately responded, saying,

“O Ayub (Alaihis Salaam), strike your foot on the ground. A fountain will emerge from the earth which you may use to drink from and wash yourself with.” Hadrat Ayub (Alaihis Salaam) did just that, and as promised, a cool fountain then began to gush outward from the ground! After drinking and bathing himself in it, he also found his skin return to normal soon afterwards! – Holy Qur’an, Chapter 23, Ruku 12 & Khazaainul-Irfaan, Pg. 464 Lesson The people of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala do not complain during calamities. On the contrary, they remain steadfast to the commands and wishes of their Lord. We also see that the Prophets are so blessed by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala that their feet are used by Him to bring out fountains from the Earth (that too, which

drive away diseases)! How foolish then are those who say that these individuals were nothing more than common people?!

Hazrat Nuh

The Ship of Hadrat Nuh

The people of Hadrat Nuh (Alaihis Salaam) were infamous for their tenacity. After even 900 years of continuous preaching, not many of them chose to follow the Prophet, which prompted him to finally lift up his hands in dua and say, “O Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala! Remove these people from the Earth!” This supplication of his was naturally accepted in the Divine Court, and so Almighty Allah ordered, “O Nuh (Alaihis Salaam), I will send a great flood that will soon wipe out these people. Build a ship for you and your followers in preparation for it.” Obediently, Hadrat Nuh (Alaihis Salaam) began to do just that. During the construction, whenever any of the disbelievers came to know what it was he was building, they’d laugh and publicly insult the Prophet. Nevertheless, an enormous ship was eventually built in 2 years. Its length was 300 meters, its breadth 50 meters, and its height 30 meters. It had three decks, the lower for carnivores, the middle for cattle and the upper for Hadrat Nuh (Alaihis Salaam), his followers, birds and food-stock. When Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala’s promised flood finally appeared, no disbeliever on land survived. Even Kan’aan (the son of Hadrat Nuh (Alaihis Salaam) who had not accepted his father’s words) was overtaken by it. – Holy Quran, Surah Hud & Khazaainul-Irfaan, Pg. 330

of Sayyidah Maryam (radi Allahu anha) (his wife was her maternal aunt). In his care, he built a special room for his little niece which no-one else was allowed to enter but him – locking its doors whenever When Hadrat Esa (Alaihis Salaam) began to walk, his he left and opening it himself whenever he arrived. mother took him to a teacher of the area and said, Witness the miracle of Sayyidah Maryam (Radiallahu “Please be the teacher of my child.” Anha), that even though no-one else went in the room, Hadrat Zacharia (Alaihis Salaam) would sometimes The teacher accepted her request and began,“Esa, enter it and see different types of fruit inside. (Not read ‘Bismillah’.” Hadrat Esa (Alaihis Salaam) replied, only that…the type of fruit would also always be the “Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Raheem.” one that’s not in season!) .

Teacher or student?

The teacher then said, “Now repeat after me: Alif. Baa. Jeem. Daal.” The Prophet politely asked, “Do you know the meanings of these words?” The teacher replied, “No, I don’t.” Hadrat Esa (Alaihis Salaam) then said, “See, Alif stands for Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala. Baa stands for His Bahjat (joy). Jeem stands for His Jalaal (majesty), and Daal stands for his Deen (religion).” The teacher then turned to Sayyidah Maryam (Radiallahu Anha) and said, “Take your son. He’s not in need of any teacher. What can I possibly teach him when I myself am his student?”

Both puzzled and astonished, the prophet once questioned her about this, asking, “Maryam! Who brings these fruits to you in a locked room?!” Sayyidah Maryam (Radiallahu Anha) replied, “They come from Allah Ta’ala, the One Who gives as much as He pleases.” At the time, Hadrat Zacharia (Alaihis Salaam) was over 75 years of age. His hair had already turned white and his blessed voice was now weak. Having no children, he witnessed this miracle of Sayyidah Maryam (Radiallahu Anha) and thought, “If Allah Ta’ala can provide Maryam (Radiallahu Anha) with fruit that’s not in season, surely He can grant my wife children even though she cannot give birth any longer.”

He then proceeded to where Sayyidah Maryam – Nuzhatul-Majaalis, Vol. 2, Pg. 432 (Radiallahu Anha) was, sat beside her, and said, “O Allah Ta’ala! Grant me pure children, for truly You are the One Who hears our duas.”

Fruit grown out of season.

When the mother of Sayyidah Maryam (Radiallahu Anha) was pregnant with her, she took a vow and said, “O Allah Ta’ala, for Your sake, I ask that the child in my womb remains absolute in Your service. Accept this from me.”

After her baby was born, her mother kept her name ‘Maryam’, proceeded to Baitul-Muqaddas, and handed her over to Hadrat Zacharia (Alaihis Salaam) (one of the trustees of the Masjid) to oversee in her upbringing. Hadrat Zacharia (Alaihis Salaam) was also a relative

After saying this, Hadrat Jibrael (Alaihis Salaam) appeared before Hadrat Zacharia (Alaihis Salaam) and said, “Allah Ta’ala gives to you the good news that you will soon be given a son whose name will be Yahya (Alaihis Salaam).” Holy Quran, Chapter 3, R uku 12 & Roohul-Bayaan, Vol. 1, Pg. 324 Lesson: The miracles of not just the Prophets, but even the Friends of Allah Ta’ala, are true. Sayyidah Maryam (Radiallahu Anha) was not a prophet, yet she received fruits that simply could not have come to her by ordinary means. We also see that blessed areas, such as those that have been visited by the close servants of Allah Ta’ala, allow one’s duas to be answered quicker. This is why Hadrat Zacharia (Alaihis Salaam) proceeded to where Sayyidah Maryam (Radiallahu Anha) was before he asked for anything. Lastly, we come to know that Allah Ta’ala discloses to others the knowledge of whether an unborn baby will be a boy or a girl: Hadrat Jibrael (Alaihis Salaam) told Hadrat Zacharia (Alaihis Salaam) that the baby’s name would be Yahya (Alaihis Salaam), meaning both of them knew that the child was going to be a boy.

After even locusts, frogs, floods and insects, the people of Firaun remained resolute against the commands of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala and continued to serve and worship a man they took as the lord of the worlds! Hadrat Musa (Alaihis Salaam) nevertheless appealed to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala one last time to punish them in this world as a warning of what awaits disbelievers in the Hereafter. So, Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala turned the entire water supply of Egypt into blood. Whether it came from wells, streams, fountains, or the River Nile, if anyone took any water for himself, he’d find that it wasn’t water anymore! Marvel at the power of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala however, that once again, this occurred only for the followers of Firaun and not for members of the Bani Israel. When the Egyptians tried extracting water out of the Bani Israel’s vessels, still too did it make no difference. If water was spat out from the mouths of the Bani Israel into their mouths, it turned to blood immediately! Thirst became so severe for the Egyptians that they even (unsuccessfully) tried to suck the moisture out of trees! Alas, when they could take no more of it, the Egyptians approached Hadrat Musa a fifth time and requested him to bring an end to the punishment, absolutely guaranteeing that they would believe in him once it was over. The prophet accepted their plea and made dua to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala one final time to grant the

followers of Firaun a chance to redeem themselves. As soon as the difficulty was over, however, people astonishingly returned to disbeliveing in him again. Holy Quran, Chapter 9, Ruku 6, Khazaainul-Irfaan, Pg. 240 & Roohul-Bayaan, Vol. 1, Pg. 760 Lesson Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala occasionally punishes the disobedient in this world as a warning of what awaits them in the Hereafter should they continue disbelieving in Him, yet only the arrogant and stubborn reject these signs of His. Think of how we react upon difficulties and then return to our normal lives forgetting the difficulties which came upon us and all the promises of change we made.

it is a deceit and misleads the servants of Allah Ta’ala. The Shari’ah dislikes this therefore, it is confirmed by the Hadith Sharif: “He is not from amongst us who cheats” (Sahih Muslim).

Q“

>Is this a Hadith Sharif? O beloved Habib, if it had not been for you, I would have not exposed My Divinity” I have not seen this in the Hadith Sharif but I read it in the books of the Mashaaikh and Sufiyyah. The above saying has more or less the same meaning of this Sahih Hadith Sharif: “O my beloved Habib, I have created the creation so that they may know and understand the adoration and love I have for you, and O my beloved! If it had not been for you, I would have not created the Duniyah” (Tarikh Ad-Dimashk, Vol 3, pg 260). That is not even the Aakhirah. Duniya is Daar Al-Amal (Place of Deeds) and Aakhirah is Daar AlAjar (Place of Rewards). If there is no Daar Al-Amal then where will Daar Al-Ajar come from? So the latter depends on the former. Therefore, the correct meaning of this will be, “If you were not created, I would not have created the Duniyah and Aakhirah.” So this will give us a clear and correct meaning of, “O my Habib! If you were not created, I would have not revealed My Majesty as Creator and My Divinity.”

[By Imam Ahmad Rida]

Q

>Respected Imam! What is the Kursi like? (Throne of Allah Ta’ala) The Hadith Sharif and the Shari’ah have not given a clear description of the Kursi.

However, with the assistance of the Hadith Sharif (i.e. with the many Ahaadith of various fields and categories and from the statements of the Sahaaba and their successors) the Kursi encompasses the entire earths and skies. It has legs made of Ruby. Presently, four Angels are carrying it on their shoulders and eight Angels will carry it on the Day of Qiyaamah. This is clearly proclaimed in the Holy Qur’an: “And the Angels will be on its sides, and 8 will carry the Throne of your Lord above them on that Day” (Surah Haaqa, 17). The distance between the thighs and feet of these Angels is equivalent to 500 years of journey. The reason why the Aayah is called “Ayat Al-Kursi” is because the Surah speaks about the Kursi: “His Throne encompasses the earth and skies” (Surah Baqarah, 255). One cannot fathom the vastness of the skies. The centre sky (4th) has the sun. The area of half the diameter of this sky is the distance of 93 million miles. The fifth sky is even greater. The smallest sector of the 5th sky is called Tadweer. This sector alone is greater than the entire 4th sky. The same vastness will apply as you go upwards to the 6th and 7th skies. Each one is relatively greater and larger than the other. It is stated in the Sahih Hadith Sharif, “And all the skies and earth in comparison to the Kursi is like a little ring or spot lying in a vast ground.” The vastness of all these, that is, skies, earths, and Kursi is of no comparison to the magnitude of the sacred heart of Sayyiduna Rasulullah (sallAllahu alaihi wasallam). The magnitude of the sacred heart of the Beloved Nabi (sallAllahu alaihi wasallam)

is of no comparison to the sublimity of Almighty Allah. Allah’s Majesty is infinite and eternal and the rest of His creation is finite and non-eternal. Hence, comparison between eternal and non-eternal is impossible. Shaykh Abd Al-Aziz Dabbagh AlMaghribi (d.1106 A.H) said: “The seven skies and seven earths in the eyes of a perfect Mu’min (Wali) is a like a little spot lying in a vast ground” (Al-Ibriz Fi Kalaam Sayyidi Abd Al-Aziz)

Q

>Is it permissible to talk while eating?

To make a Niyyah (intention) not to talk at all while eating is Makrooh (disliked) and a practice of the Majus (fire worshipper). To speak vulgar and nonsensical things is forbidden at all times. To speak of Deen and virtuous things is permissible.

Q

> How far is the boundary of Duniyah?

The seven skies and seven earths are Duniyah. Besides this the Sidratul Muntah (The Furthest Lote Tree), Arsh and Kursi (Divine Throne) is Dar Al-Aakhirah (Abode of Hereafter). Dar Al-Duniyah (Abode of the world) is Shahaadah (can be witnessed) and Dar Al-Aakhirah is Ghayb (hidden). The keys of Ghayb are called Mafaatih and the keys of Shahaadah are Maqaalid. The Qur’an testifies: “It is Allah who has the Mafaatih (keys) of Ghayb, besides Allah no one (personally) has the knowledge of it” (Surah An’aam, 59) Another Ayah states: “And for Allah are the Maqaalid (keys) of the skies and earth” (Surah Zumar, 63) The 1st letter of Mafaatih is Meem and the last is Ha (greater Ha of Arabic). The first letter of Maqaalid is Meem and the last is Daal. When all four letters are joined we get the word – Muhammad – .

This can only point out to two things. Either all the secret keys of Shahaadah and Ghayb were given to him and are under the Beloved’s (sallAllahu Alaihi wasallam) supreme control or the mysteries of Shahaadah and Ghayb were locked in the Arcane Chambers. The keys to open these secret chambers and bring them from non-existence to existence is the personality of Sayyiduna Rasulullah (sallAllahu alaihi wasallam). Had the Lord of Power not created him, then all the Treasures of Allah would have been still concealed in the Arcane Chambers and unknown to the world.

Q

> Is this a Hadith Sharif?

“If Nabi Musa and Esa were alive in my era they would have no option but to follow me?” Answer (By Imam Ahmad Rida) This is a fabrication of the wicked Qaadiyani cult. They tampered with the original Hadith by adding Nabi Esa’s name in it. The original Hadith Sharif reads: “If Musa was alive and lived in my time, he would have no option but to follow me” (Mishkaat AlMasaabih). The Dajjaal of Qadiyan (d.1883) deceitfully tried to establish that there will be no re-advent of Nabi Esa (alaihis salaam). Hence, he says that the readvent mentioned in numerous Ahaadith Sharif refers to himself. However, it is an agreed fact that all Prophets of Allah Ta’ala are in reality physically alive. The Sahih Hadith Sharif says: “Indeed Allah has made it

Haraam on the earth to consume the bodies of the Prophets, for the Prophets of Allah are alive and Allah provides them sustenance” (Tahzib Al-Kamaal).

Another Hadith Sharif substantiates further: “The Prophets are alive in their graves and perform Salaah” (Majmaa’ah Al-Zawaaid). For arguments sake, if we accept the death of Nabi Esa (alaihis salaam), then too in reality all Prophets experience death for a moment and they are then given life again as normal. Such belief is absolute and a necessity of the Madhab of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jam’ah.

No one will reject this besides the misled. It is an established fact that Nabi Esa (alaihis salaam) is alive then why should we not await his readvent? In whatever way you look at it, the impostor of Qadiyaan is a kafir and out of the folds of Islam. [By Imam Ahmad Rida]
