JAVIER SPEAKS It has been two years and nine months since the LOC started shop. Remember the good old days of the walks on the beautiful streets of Dwarka, from the hotel to Football House, and all the stress for the setup of the two small rooms in the CWG Office. The initial days when Keshab was not so stressed and only had three people to give tea on a daily basis, which meant that a fresh cup would be there every 10 minutes. The excitement of buying the cutlery and the cups for the office, setting up the whiteboards and then creating temporary letterheads because no Government Agency accepted our signed letters on a blank pape paper. Now we have more than 100 people working in the LOC, our office is spanking, but we can never forget that we started small and humble and we should remain humble until we deliver the Event. All the best for the next 90 days!

The last few weeks have easily been the most stressful in the LOC. Relentless pressure from one central and six state governments, managing three very demanding National Supporters and also coping with the flood of job and ticket requests. There are times when I just want to get away from the pressure cooker of expectations. And then I realize that the only reason that we are under so much pressure is because this FIFA U-17 World Cup has become a huge event. Everyone wants a share of the action and the credit, and many more will join the bandwagon. So when I struggle through, trying to walk the tightrope, I always think of the alternative. All of us working away anonymously, trying to conjure some public interest in a low profile tournament. lo
