Alicante | Coastal Conservation Will Be Funded

The Spanish National government has just announced that it will spend around a million euros on maintenance work along Alicante province coastline by the end of 2014 . The government delegate in the region has stated that the coast department within the Ministry of the Environment has invested 355,000 euros in a series of projects in Denia , Benitaxell , Benissa , Alicante , Santa Pola , Guardamar del Segura , Torrevieja , Orihuela and Pilar de la Horadada . They have reconstructed and also installed access ways to beaches , replaced sand , demolished unsafe structures , cleaned and refurbished embankments and removed rubble left behind when old buildings had been demolished . Now there will be additional money put on the table before the end of the year for conservation programmes in Elche , Guardamar and Alicante . In Elche it will involve the restoration of sand dunes at Playa del Carabassi and the south end of Arenales del Sol beach .The access routes through the dunes in Guardamar will be renovated at El Moncayo / Campomar , Les Ortigues and El Campo / Salidero beaches .These projects are waiting a report fr4om the ministry and will be completed this year . Lastly the coast department will start restoring a pedestrian pathway and Roman archaeological remains between Playa de la Albufereta and Costablanca port in Alicante .That will not be completed until the end of 2015 .
