The Spanish police have broken a Georgian burglary gang that was based in Alicante and other provinces .The gang carried out burglaries all over Europe .There was a grand total of 95 people and 49 of these were arrested in Spain . The Director General of Police stated that their main targets were in Spain where they have been charged with 29 break-ins although the actual number is believed to be much higher . The gang had at least 60 ” safe houses ” in Spain and about 300 all over Europe .Several of these safe houses were in Alicante province .They worked in groups of 7 or 8 and their target was jewellery which they sent back to Georgia to sell .They never operated in one area for more than a year .As soon as they suspected that someone was on to them then they would leave the country for a while .The operation brought together police from eight Europeasn countries . Each member of the gang has a special skill which enabled them to break in more easily . The one good thing was that they were never violent and wanted to enter and leave homes as quickly and silently as possible .Some victims didn´t even realise that they had been burgled until several days later .
