Gone , it seems , are the days when it was a natural thing to have jellyfish in the sea during the summer months .If there were lots then you didn´t swim and if there were but a few than you took pot luck and swam . Not so now .Tourists it seems don´t like jellyfish and the tourists must be obeyed .Benidorm is going to pioneer a new scheme to eradicate these creatures if they can get funding from the EU .It is no wonder that our sea life is becoming depleted . The companies involved are using space age technology to detect the banks of jellyfish before they actually reach the beaches .They use satellite images to find them .As well as Benidorm being used for the research , so has Biarritz on the west coast of France . All that these systems do , but more accurately than the present system ,is inform the local councils of the position of these swarms and predict if and where they may come close to the shore .It is just an earlier early warning system . Lifeguards will be able to warn bathers and prospective bathers of the imminent dager of getting stung .Being stung by a jellyfish is no joking matter , the stings are extremely painful .Let us hope that the EU sees sense and allows nature to just get on with things , it is much cheaper .
