The healthcare service has reported that in Elche on the Spanish Costa Blanca , which is renowned for its firework display known as the Nit de L Alba , there were 63 minor accidents reported and which required medical attention.Most were slight burns .Only three of the cases were classified as serious , including a 46 year old woman with an eye injury and a perforated eyelid caused by a falling stick from a firework . Of the total 21 were treated at Elche General Hospitaland the Vinolopo hospital .Two children were amongst these .A baby aged one had a slight burn on the hand .All of the others were treated by the Red Cross or other voluntary services . This even has recently been named as an event of regional tourist interest .There were at least 100,000 rockets set off plus the culmination which is the gigantic Palmera de la Virgen which was launched from the bell tower of the Basilica de Santa Maria . They also put on in a special enclosure , The War of the Catherine Wheels � and almost 100 people participated in this in a special enclosure .Local police confiscated fireworks from people setting them off outside the enclosure .Four people were arrested for throwing fireworks outside the permitted area . People in the town turn off their lights for this event and were thanked for their cooperation by the council .This was requested of the people of Elche as the electricity supplier Iberdrola would not comply with a request from the council .
