There is no doubt that at sometime this autumn , we shall have rain and that rain could be torrential .Work to clean up and prepare for the downpour has started along the Costa Blanca .If it hasn´t then it should have started . In Elche they are clearing all the public ravines and watercourses .A job that they carry out every year .They have also asked the Jucar Water Authority to clean and clear those ravines and watercourses that fall under thir jurisdiction .Some areas have been pinpointed as critical because if they are not cleared then flooding could occur . Flood water drains have also been cleaned as have all the waste water pumping stations .In Cartagena ( Murcia ) the water company Hidrogea has been checking storm drains , pumping stations and urban sections of water courses . Work on the cleaning of sewers goes on all year round , around 1000 kilometres of piping but is intensified from mid July to mid September .In floodable areas up to 10000 drains are checked and cleared if needed .Trees that shed leaves cause many of the blockages .
