Parents in schools along the Costa Blanca have been complaining that the temperatures in classrooms since the beginning of term have been too high and the students have not been able to concentrate and learn . So last week schools in Calpe , Benidorm and Alfaz del Pi closed earlier .The opposition party in Calpe claimed that in some schools youngsters were being taught in hallways and corridors .This claim has been disputed by the respective schools and they say that all students are being taught in classrooms . One wonders if these classrooms do not have air conditioning because it is too costly to run .The mayor of Calpe has supplied fans for some classrooms .They are also concerned about the high temperatures .Classes are still finishing as early as 12 noon . Other towns have been lodging similar complaints with town halls and in Altea classes have been reduced by 10 minutes to ensure that youngsters are not at school between 13.30 and 15.00 .A Benidorm school is finishing two hours earlier that usual .Maybe schools need to start earlier in the morning eg 8am and work through until 1pm . Parents in Alfaz del Pi have contemplated not sending their children to school because they have been dizzy and nauseous .The temperatures in a classroom ought not be above 27 degrees and recently they have been 30 .Students in Altea also staged protests about being in school in such hot weather .
