The Moraira town council has put in place a law which means that bars have to close at 1am even though they have terraces full of paying customers .July and August tend to be the months of the year when these cafes and bars make enough money to see them through to the end of the year . Customers , residents and bar owners have not been very happy when the police have rolled up to put the law into force and there have been demonstrations on four consecutive nights . Bar owners say that many of their customers have then moved on to other towns where they are able to stay up until later . It is thought that next year the hours will be extended to 2.30 am but that entertainment clubs will have to close at 1am .There seems to be no logic in this law as restaurants will still be able to serve drinks to customers after 1 am but pubs will not .Many feel that this law requires some clarification and that the whole thing needs to be reviewed in the light of the fact that Moraira is a tourist resort .
