The Andaluz Workers ´Union in Andalucia a socialist trades union , has announced its plans to stage a one day ” occupation ” of ” the rock ” .They are planning the action for August 29th . It appears that the idea has been approved at a meeting of its 20,000 members in Osuna and the reasons given were a) to denounce tax havens b)to dismantle the British military base on Gib . c) to protect the small scale fishing sector in the area d)and finally to reclain Gibraltar for Andalucia ! There is just one small point and that is how they will get around border security .However they say that the protest will be peaceful . The tax issues were one of the main protest issues .They feel that such places as Gib. allow some people to avoid paying their taxes .This man is saying that the taxes that might be collected if Gibraltar was part of Andalucia , would pay for many social services that are being cut in the region . This is the union boss who stole exercise books , pencils , pens etc from Carrefour in Sevilla and never paid for them .He andthe mayor of Marinaleda are said to have distributed them all to children .In 2012 another supermarket was raided and food was stolen for poor families .This group has also occupied land and turned them into cooperatives .
